Prelude: From Me to You
from the dark to the light
in the dead of night
a seed of the below world
sprouting through the soil
one last hope for the wishing
one last star for the sailing
from the sky to the land
a downpour, liquid cold
icy needles threading a new fate
one last call for the lonely
one last wish for the Holy
from the light to the dark
a bedtime story, an escape
from looming duties and looming goals
one last chapter for the dreaming
one more chapter for the greedy
from the land to the sky
ripe fruits filled with sunlight
not quite liquor yet but too ripe for nectar
one last bite for the hungry
one first kiss through the grapevines
from the ice to the fire
steam and snow, seething storm
jagged hearts do the killing
of what used to be, what failed to be
one last flame for the sinning
one last lie for the grieving
from the ashes to the blood
thicker than water as it runs down a blade
a traveler, pilgrim in his own life
one last sigh for the weary
one last letter for the halved
from the fire to the ice
returning, promising in a glass
that this time he will stay
he will stay
he will stay
one last plea for the god-kissed
one last prayer for the heretic
from the blood to the ashes
a masked enemy, foe and friend
forged in grief and too-soon loss
bringing the justice he was denied
one last duty for the night
one last excuse to the knight
from one life to another
spent loving, spent tying
the loose threads of what used to be
to make something better, something lasting
something wrought in a matching gold
one last vow for the better
one last promise for the worse
from the sea to the stars
and the moon to the sun
cyclical, intrinsic
sure as the sun rises in the east
but never sets, never truly
one last lattice to a new beginning
one last road for the never-ending
from the old to the new
and the new to the old
scars like a map to trace
of every universe to cross together
death is no end, I found
not when you’re with me
from me to you
in any form, in every form
through time and fate and all the stars in the universe
I will find you
I will love you
Everything leads me back to you
Postlude: From You to Me
Isn’t it funny how it works?
One, two.
One, two.
I close my eyes on ‘Three’, weary and old, my finger wrought in a gold that matches yours
Then,
I wake up
Too similar to be called new yet too different not to
Once the muse to your charcoal
Or the hunter tasked to kill you
Once the spell, Once the witch
The song and the singer and the angel falling for the devil
Once a Prince, Once a pauper
The writer and the story and the blood on your teeth
I remember, now
A tale as old as time, woven in the same twenty-six letters
From the dark to the light, the ashes to the blood, the sea to the stars and the sky and the land in between
My world is in your palm
My heart between your lips
You called me
And I answered
From you,
To me
