Work Text:
One and Three made an unlucky pair. Everywhere they went, they went together, leaving messes in their wake.
Together, they were trouble.
They both knew this, but Three did not care.
“Three, I love you, but I’m getting so tired! Everything goes wrong with us. It’s becoming a problem, and I think the only solution is to separate.” One solemnly told Three one day.
Three was heartbroken about this decision of hers. “But One, that doesn’t mean we can’t still talk, right?”
“It does mean that. Three, we can’t be together anymore. It’s time to leave.”
She walked away, but after a moment, he followed. “Wait,”
One quickly turned around to cut him off. “Did you not hear me? We’re through!”
Three’s grief turned to anger in a snap.
He barked, “Are you kidding me?! After everything?! One, you’re the only person that KNOWS me!”
“...and you’re just going to leave me here?” Three muttered.
“I’m done arguing.” One’s voice was quiet now.
Three took a deep breath, trying to regain his composure to little avail.
“Fine. I can make other friends. If you’re going to be like this, I don’t need you anyway.”
The two stormed off, in their separate ways.
Three sits on his own against a tree for hours, until an unfortunately familiar digit approaches him.
“X wants to play with you again, get over here!” Four chirped, the variable not far behind.
“...You know what? Sure.”
