Chapter Text
This short story takes place between the events of the series finale and my fic's very first episode.
FLASHBACK (Takes place in the bay).... [1]
"Hold on!" Wasabi said as he drove his car to the boat, which is sinking fast. As he and the others, sans Hiro and Baymax, arrived, they got off the car.
"Everyone, stay calm!" Honey Lemon said as she got off.
"We are here to save you-" Fred said, before he spun uncontrollably. "Uh oh! Guys, I'm getting seasick now."
As he said that, a helicopter approaches, spotlighting the heroes.
"It's a trap!" Gogo exclaimed.
"Oh no.." Wasabi muttered.
"What are we going to do?!" Honey Lemon said. "Now that Flame Jumper is feeling sick!"
Just then, a couple of buddy guardians fall off the sky, while the police officers that were on standby aimed their respective tasers at the group.
"It's over, Big Heroes.." Chief Cruz said as he got off the helicopter using a ladder. "Or maybe I should say "Big Hero 4" since that big red guy and the purple guy are nowhere to be found.."
"Oh this is bad!" Fred said.
"Yeah, obviously..." Wasabi muttered.
"No, not!" Fred said, before clutching his stomach. "Sorry, I just need to-" He said as he ran off in order to, y'know, throw up....
"Aha! Sinking boat!" Chief Cruz exclaimed. "I knew you couldn't stay away."
"You know we could help." Wasabi said.
"But you still think we're bad guys but-" Gogo added.
"More like dangereous in the illusion." Chief Cruz said, before Fred returned after throwing up.
"Uh. Is that better?" He asked.
"Yeah.." Honey Lemon muttered.
"Maybe.." Wasabi said.
"Doesn't matter." Chief Cruz said, getting the heroes' attention. "If you four come quietly off, put a good word with the D.A." [2]
"Welp, that's gonna be a hard pass." Gogo said.
"We're sorry, Chief Cruz. But the city is in danger. We need to go." Honey Lemon said, before activating the Machine-Gun mode of her purse, aiming it at one of the officers, causing a battle.
As the battle unfolded, Fred starts to feel weak and stood near Wasabi's car.
"I can't take this anymore- Aah!" He exclaimed, before seeing a buddy guardian in front of him. As he dodged the attack, the buddy guardian ends up throwing Wasabi's car off the ship and into the sea.
End of Flashback /The Streets of San Fransokyo....
"Well, look at that.." Hiro said as he and Chief Cruz watch the sunset at the bay. "I wished Tadashi was here.."
"Who's Tadashi?" Chief Cruz asked.
"He's my brother." Hiro answered.
"Huh?"
"He passed away because of the fire at-" Hiro added.
"SFIT? I know.." Chief Cruz said. "I'm very sorry.." He added, before pulling him for a hug.
"It's okay, Chief." Hiro said, before letting go of the hug.. "Besides, you're not the reason why he died. It was because of an accident that happened right after my demo during the exhibit.." He added. "That was the time before I got to know Megan."
"And that's not all. I'm apologizing because of what I did to you and your friends last spring.." Chief Cruz said as he and Hiro stood up. "I thought that heroes couldn't save anyone. But I was wrong."
"Told you, Chief. But apology accepted."
"And could you please tell Wasabi that I'm very sorry about throwing his car off the bay..?" Chief Cruz asked as he and Hiro walked back to the latter's scooter "I know It's a little late, but I didn't have the time to do so recently."
"Well, good timing." Hiro said as he wore his helmet. "He's also coming to the cafe for dinner. Same is with the others and Megan." He added as he hopped onto his scooter. "I can take you there if you want."
"Umm. Sure I guess." Chief Cruz replied as he took the helmet and got onto the scooter.
"I wonder what Aunt Cass has for us-" Hiro said, before he hears a voice call out his name.
"Hiro!"The girl, who appears to be sporting light purple long hair and wears a pink t-shirt and a light denim jacket, said. "How's internship? You know that I'm going to do well for my very first shift!"
"It went fine. Me and Chief Cruz just watched the sunset." Hiro replied. "Also-"
"Chief Cruz?! ISN'T HE THE CHIEF OF POLICE FORCE?" The girl exclaimed in shock, fearing that Hiro might be in trouble. "Cause everytime I see police, I sense trouble."
"There's no trouble at all. And your right, I'am the chief." Chief Cruz said. "And I know Hiro because of his Aunt." He added, before turning to Hiro. "Who is she by the way..?"
"Oh. She's Rich." Hiro answered. "Rachelle Roberts."
"Who prefers being called "Rich" because, I'm rich, basically." Rich added, before her phone rang. "I better go now. You guys should go too. Staying at the bay late at night is dangereous."
"Staying at the bay is not that dangereous." Hiro said as he starts the scooter. "But I guess we should go then."
"Yeah. Don't want Cass to worry." Chief Cruz added as he and Hiro sped off.
As the two rode near the bay, Chief Cruz realizes something.
"From what I said earlier...." He muttered.
"About Wasabi's car..?" Hiro said.
"Yeah. I'm thinking of something.. I will tell you later when we get to the cafe."
"Agree."
Lucky Cat Cafe....
The sun has fully set, and at that time, Big Hero 6, joined by the Curzes, were all having dinner.
"So. How's your application going?" Megan asked, looking at Wasabi.
"Well, I just submitted it and.." He answered.
"And?" Hiro asked.
"I JUST GOT ACCEPTED FOR AN INTERVIEW!" Wasabi answered, excitedly.
"Wait, really?" Fred asked, to which Wasabi nodded.
"What did you apply for?" Hiro asked.
"We already know you decided to let go of Bragg Tech."
"It's a surprise. Which I will show you guys this fall!" Wasabi announced as everyone celebrated. However, that celebration was interrupted when..
"Guys, you know it's been a month since..." Chief Cruz said, prompting everyone else to stare at him.
"Since what?" Honey Lemon wondered.
"Since the day I tried arresting you." He added. "And there is this one thing I wanted to say sorry about."
"What is it?"
"I'm very sorry.." Chief Cruz muttered. "For getting your car tossed at the bay, Wasabi."
As Chief Cruz apologized, Wasabi pulls him for a hug.
"It's okay, Chief. Apology accepted." Wasabi said. "But honestly, I think that's Trina's fault since she programmed the buddy guardians."
"Thanks." Chief Cruz said.
"But quick question.. What took you so long to admit it?"
"Well-"
"It's a long story!" Megan said.
"Yeah. A very long story indeed." Chief Cruz said as the table went into complete silent. "But I can pay for the repairs." He offered, before the table went in complete silence.
"Speaking of repairs..." Mini-Max said, breaking the silence. "Maybe we should..."
"Go car fishing!" Gogo exclaimed.
"Great idea Mini-Max!" Fred said. "But how?"
"It is up to me." Hiro responded. "Megan, Chief, meet me at the base tomorrow morning."
"Okie dokie!" Megan said. "At least school doesn't start until the next few weeks."
"That's what I came up during the ride to the cafe.." Chief Cruz muttered.
Somewhere in San Fransokyo....
"According to Hiro, the base should be right there." Chief Cruz muttered as he and Megan drove around.
"Dad. I know where it is." Megan said. "Not to mention Hiro taking me there."
"Oh." Chief Cruz said, before he hears a sound from the GPS. "Well, it looks like we're here. Let's go."
Big Hero 6 Base....
"So, Hiro told me to meet him at the hangars." Megan said as she and Chief Cruz entered the base. "But where is it?"
"Oh, it's on the left side." Fred said as he passed by. "And thanks for coming, by the way!"
"Oh thanks, what's your name again?" Chief Cruz asked.
"For the fortieth time, It's Frederick Flamarion Fredrickson the fourth." Fred answered. "I already introduced myself when we saved Megan.. Not to mention her calling me Fred."
"Oh."
"And Hiro is waiting for you two, right there." Fred added as he brought the father and daughter into the hangar, where Hiro and Baymax are waiting.
"Hello." Baymax greeted.
"Hiro! Sorry if it took us so long to get here." Megan greeted as she ran into him. "We kept getting lost and..."
"It's okay Megan. And welcome to our Hangar!" Hiro exclaimed as he introduced the Cruzes to the base's hangar. "We were supposed to have an A.I but it's still a work in-progress." He added, before leading the two into his hangar.
"To start off, do you know where exactly was the car thrown?" Hiro asked as he readied his underwater gear.
"As in the part of the bay?" Chief Cruz asked. "I don't know where exactly but maybe somewhere in the middle of the ocean.."
"Only one way to find out.."
The Bay/San Fransokyo Bay....
"I'm at the bay." Hiro, donning his underwater armor, said on his intercom. "It's time..." He muttered as he pressed a button on his scooter's control panel.
As Hiro drove the scooter straight into the ocean, he held onto the handle as it starts to transform into a seascooter. After plunging into the sea, he turns on his metal detector in an attempt to locate the car.
"Interesting.." Megan muttered on the other line. "So, how will you be able to find the car?"
"You'll see." Hiro replied. "If it beeps suddenly, then that means-"
His words were interrupted when the metal detector starts to beep, rapidly.
"I'm almost there." He completed his statement. "Hold on, Hiro.. You can do this..." He told himself before he sped up until reaching the car.
"Oh my..!" He muttered in shock as he slowed the scooter down. "It's much worse than before..."
"Wasabi told me that the car has been underwater last year," Chief Cruz said on the other line. "but when Fall came."
"Yup. Me and the others retrieved it for his birthday."
"So, how are we going to get it back?" Megan asked.
"As I said, your scooter is not big enough to pull that car into the shore..." Chief Cruz added.
"I know." Hiro said as he drove the scooter back to the shore, disabling underwater mode and transforming the scooter back to it's original state. "Need more time to get used to this new feature. But there's no way I'm using it to tow Wasabi's car!"
"Oh I see.."
"Well, wait for me at the hangar entrance." Hiro said as he drove. "I'm on my way! Tell the others to meet me there."
"Okie dokie Hiro Hamada!" Megan chorused as the call ended.
"Why does she have to call me that.."
Big Hero 6 Base....
Minutes later, Hiro finally arrives at the base, parking his scooter at his hangar.
"Hey guys! Sorry for the wait." Hiro greeted as he ran to his teamates and the Cruzes. "Also, where's Wasabi?"
"He's busy this afternoon." Gogo said.
"He's making his own resume and getting ready for his interview." Baymax added.
"So, what do we have for today...." Fred muttered.
"Where's the car?" Honey asked.
"I was about to say that..." Gogo deadpanned.
"I know. But let me introduce to you.." Hiro announced as he opens the door to a bigger hangar. "Aqua-Max!"
The heroes' and the Cruzes' faces turned into shock as they all saw the new vehicle. It looks very similar to Mega-Max but..
"Why does it look like Mega-Max for me?" Fred wondered, before Roddy appears on his and the others' view.
"That is not Mega-Max! But another version of him that can travel on sea!" Roddy explained as he and the team entered Aqua-Max.
"Cool!"
"That's so amazing..." Megan said.
"What's the plan?" Chief Cruz asked.
"Well, I found the car and, it is very deeper than I expected.." Hiro answered. "So here's the plan: Me and Chief Cruz will swim to the car."
"I have my own gear." Chief Cruz said. "I used to go scuba diving with my old friends."
"Honey and Gogo will join us in order to protect the car from incoming creatures."
"Does this mean I will be getting underwater gear?" Honey asked. "You, Baymax and Gogo has one."
"Yes. Here it is." Hiro replied as a portion on Aqua-Max revealed the team, including Wasabi and Fred's underwater gear. "Here you go."
"Oh yeah!"
"The others will stay onboard because we will need the hook ready." Hiro told the team. "Is everyone ready?"
"Well I'am!" Fred exclaimed.
"Let's do this!" Megan excitedly exclaimed. "My first time at the middle of the ocean!"
San Fransokyo Bay....
Monents later, the heroes (sans Wasabi) and the Cruzes were already onboard Aqua-Max, traveling on the waters. Hiro, Baymax, Chief Cruz, Gogo, and Honey Lemon were all donning underwater gear.
"This looks so cool, Hiro!" Honey exclaimed as she tests out her new Aqua-Purse. "Thanks!"
"You're welcome." Hiro replied. "Plus, it works much better if it's used underwater."
After some time, the heroes stopped on the middle of the ocean.
"We're here." Roddy said as he stopped the ship.
"Ready guys." Hiro asked as he, Baymax, Gogo, Honey, and Chief Cruz were all standing on the hatch.
"Born ready!" Chief Cruz replied, before the hatch opened.
As the five swam through the water, they passed by loads of coral reefs and shipwrecked boats.
"Cute fish incoming!" Honey Lemon said as she sees a cute school of fishes pass by.
"Aah!" Hiro exclaimed as he is scared by an octopus. "Sorry."
As the five finally got to the car, everyone was dismayed on how it looks. Especially..
"So that's the car." Chief Cruz muttered.
"Yes." Baymax said, before Chief Cruz went close to the car.
"Roddy, we need Aqua-Max over here, now!"
"Okie dokie teen genius!" Roddy replied as he steered the ship.
"I'm still not okay with this name, just like Megan calling me with my full name." Hiro deadpanned, before his eyes turned to a dismayed Chief Cruz.
"What have I done.." Chief Cruz muttered. "It wouldn't be here today if I wasn't so me.."
"It's okay, Chief." Honey said as she comforted him. "Mistakes happen most of the time. We couldn't stop it. But we can fix it, which is what you're doing!"
"R-really..?" Chief Cruz muttered, before seeing a couple of eels head straight to the car.
"Yes Chief." Gogo said. "You can do this. Atleast you never give up as a chief."
"I can do this. A chief never gies up!" Chief Cruz vowed, until he and the team's eyes turned to a school of eels heading to the car.
"Eels!" Hiro warned. "Honey, Gogo! Use your new gear to stop them from heading to the car!"
"On it!" The two girls replied, heading straight for the eels in order to overwhelm them.
Gogo uses her suit's jet engines to distract the eels, while Honey uses her Aqua-Purse to trap the eels in a sphere. She then notices an eel headed straight for Gogo.
"Gogo!" Honey called out as Gogo looked at her back. Luckily, Baymax striked the eel using his sonic blaster while Chief Cruz uses his knife to stab one of the eels. Hiro covered his eyes because of that.
"Sorry, I had to do this." Chief Cruz said before he kept his knife into his pocket. Just then, the five all looked up as Roddy slows down the ship.
"Just in time!" Hiro exclaimed. "Lower the towline!"
"I gotchu, Hiro!" Fred said as he and Megan pressed a button on the ship's control panel, lowering the ropes. However...
"Hiro! The ropes too short!" Megan said.
"What are we going to do?" Honey said, until Chief Cruz pulled out a spare rope from his pocket. It was already equiped with an anchor. As the others watch, he then hooks it onto the car and ties the rope on Aqua-Max's hook. He then tests it out by pulling it.
"It works!" He exclaimed. "Pull us up!"
"We better get out of here. It's getting late." Roddy said as he looked at his watch.
"I agree." Hiro replied. "My friend Rich told me about the seas being dangereous at night.." He added as his team swam up to Aqua-Max, before departing.
Big Hero 6 Base....
It was already evening, and the heroes and the Cruzes have spent the entire afternoon repairing the car. The repair was very easy compared to Wasabi's birthday, where they had to buy or make a new passenger's door since it was destroyed during the time they were being chased by Yokai.
Nevertheless, after a few tests, the car was ready.
"Good to go." Gogo said.
"Should we call him-" Megan asked, only for Hiro to interrupt.
"Maybe we should surprise him." He replied.
"Good idea!" Honey said.
"Just like how we surprised him during his birthday!" Fred guessed. But Hiro nodded his head sideways.
"I'm thinking of another way to surprise him.." Hiro muttered. "Let's all stay here and make sure to be quiet." He added. "I mean, it worked when Chief Cruz's birthday surprise went very well back in the Police Station."
"That was weeks ago." Chief Cruz added, until he hears Wasabi's footsteps.
"He's coming!" Megan whispered.
"Quick! Open the hangar doors, turn off the lights and stay put!" Hiro whispered as he and the others squeezed tightly at the back.
"On it!" Mini-Max exclaimed as he opened the hangar's doors with a button while Baymax switched off the lights.
"And try to stay quiet." Chief Cruz whispered, and the hangars were all quiet.
Just then, Wasabi arrives at the base.
"It seems quiet.." He muttered as he looked around. "Very quiet. No one's in the conference room." He said as he reached the conference room. "Let me check the hangars.."
As he approached the hangars, everyone else's hearts were beating.
"He's coming..!" Gogo muttered.
"I can feel his footsteps coming closer." Megan added as Wasabi entered the hangars.
"Strange.. The lights in here never go off.." Wasabi muttered.
"This is it guys.." Hiro said. "Turn on the lights!" He commanded as Fred turned on the light switch.
"Oh! The power's back!" Wasabi exclimed, and at the same time, the others exited Wasabi's hangar.
"Surprise!" Everyone exclaimed as a confused Wasabi approaches them.
"Guys! What were you all doing here?" He asked, until his eyes turned to his gray car. "And, oh boy! Why does that look like my car?"
"That's because it is your car, Wasabi." Chief Cruz exclaimed.
"Fresh from the deep sea. But now, dry!" Hiro added.
"We upgraded it." Gogo said. "Little by little."
"By a couple. We mean everything and almost every single thing!"
"And guess what.." Honey said as she pulled out a water chemball from her purse. "It's fully waterproof!"
"And if it ever goes into the bay, underwater mode is turned on automatically." Baymax added.
"You guys!" Wasabi cried as he hugged the car. "You're giving me all the feels!" He added. "Is it real?"
"Yes." Everyone replied as Wasabi kept crying.
