Chapter 1: Sand, Ray and Sandrea

Chapter Text

In a quiet neighborhood in Bangkok, far from the bustling nightlife they once knew, Sand and Ray had built a life together. Their story was unconventional, filled with trials and triumphs, but they had managed to find their balance. That balance was solidified with the birth of their daughter, Sandrea, a spirited little girl who brought sunshine into their lives.

Sandrea was five years old, her big brown eyes curious and her laughter contagious. She had inherited Sand’s love for music and Ray’s fiery determination. She loved strumming on Sand’s old guitar, the same one that had seen countless gigs and late-night jam sessions, and dancing around the living room to Ray’s eclectic playlists.

One sunny afternoon, the family decided to spend the day at Lumpini Park. Sand packed a picnic basket with Ray’s favorite snacks, and Sandrea insisted on bringing her tiny ukulele, a gift from her dad. The park was alive with the chatter of families, joggers, and vendors selling ice cream.

“Papa, look! I can play like you!” Sandrea exclaimed, her little fingers clumsily plucking the strings of her ukulele.

Sand chuckled, kneeling beside her. “You’re getting there, sweetheart. Let me show you a chord.”

Ray watched them with a soft smile, leaning back on the picnic blanket. He’d never imagined himself in this role, as a parent, but Sandrea had changed everything. She was a reminder of how far he’d come and how much he had to look forward to.

“Hey, Sand,” Ray called out. “Do you think she’ll form a band one day?”

Sand looked up, grinning. “With her talent? Absolutely. But she might need a manager. You up for the job?”

Ray laughed. “Only if I get a cut of the profits.”

Their banter was interrupted by Sandrea’s delighted squeal. A squirrel had darted past, and she was now chasing after it.

“Careful, Sandrea!” Ray called, standing up. He glanced at Sand. “She’s got your energy, you know.”

Sand shrugged. “And your impulsiveness. It’s a dangerous combination.”

The day unfolded in moments like these—Sand teaching Sandrea a new song, Ray playfully chasing her around the park, and the three of them lying under a tree, staring at the clouds. They made up silly stories about the shapes they saw, their laughter echoing around them.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, Sand and Ray packed up their things. Sandrea had fallen asleep in Ray’s arms, her ukulele clutched tightly.

Walking back to their car, Ray glanced at Sand. “You ever think about how we got here?”

Sand nodded, his eyes soft. “Every day. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

Ray smiled, shifting Sandrea gently in his arms. “Me neither.”

Their journey hadn’t been easy, but moments like these made everything worth it. Together, they had created a world where love, music, and laughter were the foundation. And with Sandrea in their lives, their story was just beginning.
