Fuegoleon and one of his most trusted friends infiltrate an illegal auction and end up doing one of the most passionate dances in the world; the tango.

Chapter 1: The Tango (Fuegoleon)

Chapter Text

Fuegoleon sighed softly as he watched a group of nobles dance, laugh, and drink merrily as they celebrated the end of another ‘successful’ underground auction.

When he was first told about the underground auction Fuegoleon couldn’t believe that something like that was going on in the Capitol, and right under their noses at that! So he decided to infiltrate the auction house, gather as much evidence as he could, and then let his squad swoop in and take them down.

But he couldn’t do it alone. He needed someone to help him gather evidence and avoid suspicion. So he enlisted the help of one of his most trusted people.

“ Captain, I’ve gathered more evidence sir.” The young woman said softly as she walked up to him and wrapped her arm around his.

He had asked the young woman in his squad for help with taking down the auction, although he had to admit he was a bit reluctant to do so at first. He had been worried about her possibly getting injured during the raid or possibly getting harassed by the other patrons, but firmly reminded himself that she was a strong and capable woman who could handle herself.

“ Good work,” Fuegoleon said with a small smile. “ Now all we have to do is wait for the squad and Randall to get here. You put all of the evidence where it could be found correct?”

“ Of course, this isn’t my first time doing something like this, you know.” The woman said with a knowing smile, and Fuegoleon nodded in agreement.

She was known for going undercover many, many times. It was where she shined, and he had to admit, she almost shined brighter here than when she was on the battlefield.

“ We should leave before the others arrive.” Fuegoleon said but the woman untangled her arm from his and shook her head.

“ You can leave if you’d like, Captain, but I’m going to stay for another minute or two.” The woman said as she stepped away and Fuegoleon frowned.

“ Why?”

“ Because my favorite dance is about to begin,” the woman told him with a mysterious grin as she moved toward the dance floor. Fuegoleon frowned, her favorite dance? He didn’t know she liked to dance.

Suddenly he heard the recognizable strings and cords of the Tango begin to echo throughout the room, ah, so this was her favorite dance. He almost chuckled, he couldn’t imagine a more perfect dance for her.

Fuegoleon turned to walk away, their part of the mission was over now. But as he looked back over his shoulder to see her trying to dance by herself he sighed.

He took his suit jacket off and threw it over a chair before rolling up his shirt sleeves. He had only briefly learned how to tango as part of his royal duties, so he was far from an expert, but he knew most of the steps.

“ Captain…?” The woman asked in confusion as Fuegoleon walked up to her, placed her hand in his, and his other hand moved to the small of her back.

“ You said we had a few minutes right? And that this was your favorite dance? So I thought maybe it would be alright to have a little bit of fun, since our part of the mission is complete.” Fuegoleon said with a small shrug, the woman smiled a bit and nodded. It was rare for the Captain to say they should have a little fun, so she decided to take advantage of it.

The two danced and moved sensually across the dance floor, the romantic tension between them palpable. Everyone could see that the two had feelings for each other even if they didn’t recognize it themselves. The way Fuegoleon’s hand gently held and caressed her, but was still firm. The way the woman let him lead at one point, before taking the lead herself again. As Fuegoleon moved forward with a burning passion in his eyes people couldn’t help but compare it to a lion stalking its prey, but when the woman took a step forward with the same look she turned into the lion.

The way the two just…stared into each other’s eyes, and the fiery passion that burned in them, made everyone feel like these two were destined to be together. That they were the perfect couple whose souls burned for each other.

Suddenly the doors to the auction house burst open and in came the Crimson Lions led by Randall. Fuegoleon and the woman stopped and watched as the Nobles were rounded up and the two quietly snuck away through the back door.

“ Ah, that was a great way to end the mission don’t you think?” The woman asked as she inhaled the cool air outside. Fuegoleon smiled and nodded in agreement.

“ I agree, it truly was a good ending to a job well done.” He turned as she suddenly began to walk away and his heart leapt in his chest.

Fuegoleon had had feelings for the young woman for many months now, but had been too afraid to admit it. The way she smiled, the way she laughed, and the way she helped him relax and enjoy the simple things in life. She was smart, brave, and passionate about everything she set her mind to. She was protective and loving, she was everything that was good in this world.

“ Would you,” Fuegoleon shouted loudly as he watched her continue to walk away. “ Would you like to have a meal with me?” He asked quickly and the woman stopped dead in her tracks and turned to look at him.

“ Are you…asking me out on a date, Captain?” The woman asked curiously as she crossed her arms and walked towards him, Fuegoleon coughed a bit as he suddenly became self conscious.

“ Well, I guess, one could say that it’s a date. If both parties feel a…certain way about one another.” Fuegoleon said as his cheeks turned red and he cleared his throat for the second time. The woman with bright eyes walked up to him and smiled as she stared directly into his purple eyes.

“ And do you feel a…certain way about me?” She asked softly, and she watched him swallow a lump in his throat nervously.

“ I do,” he said softly as he stared back into her eyes. “ and you? Do you feel a-?” He began but was quickly cut off.

“ I do, Captain, I do feel a certain way about you. I have for a long time.” She told him softly, and the two smiled warmly at each other before she grabbed his hand.

“ Now that that’s out of the way, let’s go eat.” She said before leading him down the cobblestone street. Fuegoleon felt his cheeks burn brighter as she held his hand firmly in hers, but he had to admit, he couldn’t be happier than he was right now at this moment.
