Work Text:
sungchan was never a fan of love. the very idea of being too attached to one person that you could not even let go despite them hurting you kind of scares, and at the same time, annoys him.
he has nothing against people who are madly in love with their partners—do what you want, it's your life.
but you won't not catch his hands turning into fists the moment he hears his friend's rants about a particular guy—an asshole—his friend is dating for months now.
"how 'bout you reconsider my offer of, you know, punching him?" sungchan showed him his fists, "they're itching to land on his face, baby."
shotaro chuckled a bit as he shakes his head, "no to violence, chanchan." the other has always been protective of him since they were kids, so, he understands where he's coming from. "but i appreciate it. so much."
the smile shotaro flashed at him made his ears feel red that he had to clear his throat and look away. at times like this when the both of them are only inches apart, sungchan could not help but have his heart beat faster than usual.
the older is just so warm and genuine and tiny that he's constantly having the urge to take care of him, protect him, and god, he'd gladly do his best to make him feel loved as that's what he deserves.
and the fact that shotaro is dating an asshole who can't even make time for him—no, who's not even willing to—makes the whole concept of attachment and dating and love so irritating to sungchan.
"taro hyung," he called, now staring at the older in the eye, "date someone else."
shotaro only smiled at him, so he continued.
"date whoever you want, it's your life, i know. but please, choose them wisely 'cause i.." sungchan heaved a deep sigh, "i hate seeing you hurt like this."
shotaro was slightly taken aback. he'd never heard sungchan sound like this—like he was desperately begging shotaro to do it. the younger's expression was stern, but somehow, shotaro rather felt warmth because of those words.
shotaro blinked multiple times before he could finally break their eye contact that was as if pulling him. those eyes felt like they were urging him to move closer and just go for a hug, which he (un)fortunately successfully resisted to.
"soon, sungchan," shotaro sighed as he plays with the bracelet his boyfriend gave him on their first month in the relationship, "i'll be able to let this go. soon."
he can't wait for that time to come.
and so does sungchan.
