Malter’s scheme began with another unique ‘gift’. He hacked into the military’s central systems to create a dazzling light show across the skies above the ocean stretching near Lumina Square. Holographic displays lit up with the message: “I Love You, You Deserve More, Darling!”
Soon after, another message popped up on Wise’s phone: “My Muse, your courage inspires me every day. Meet me at the Coff Café’s roof in Lumina Square.” The encrypted message bore Malter’s unique signature—a code only Wise could decipher, better known as their ‘love code’.
Wise, reluctantly intrigued, found his way to the quiet rooftop of Coff Café*, where he was met with the sight of Malter grinning mischievously. Behind Malter, the sky was a blaze with fireworks and vibrant drones. “I wanted to show you that your bravery deserves more than just words,” probably to praise what Wise had done recently. [ After main story : chapter 5 ]
Malter declared, gesturing to the shimmering skyline. It was in rhythm with a custom symphony of music, release from a masterpiece of Dobberboo’s gun-like features in its hand. Who knew what dangerous modifications Malter had added to this Bangboo this time?
Of course, the military didn’t see this as a romantic gesture. Alarms blared as drones swarmed the heart of the city. People who had been enjoying a leisurely evening were thrown into chaos. Some were awestruck by the spectacle, while others panicked in fear.
This wasn’t the first time something like this had happened—and it was certainly not something anyone could excuse.
Wise scowled, clearly unimpressed. "This is how you show you care? By putting me on a wanted list?"
"Yes and No," Malter grinned, pointing at one of the drones blasting a stun shot. "Because I’d take whatever punishment comes my way just to show you how much you matter, and don't you worry, i already handle them too! You will be safe, My Love!""
Instead of being met with admiration, Wise crossed his arms and gave Malter a pissed-off look.
Wise didn’t say a word, but Malter could feel his grin fading fast. If he were a big dog, his ears would’ve been drooping in shame. After all, this wasn’t just some scolding he deserved—it probably should’ve been reported to the authority, and Pubsec wasn’t far from where they stood.
But of course, that wasn’t really an option for Wise. He was also trying to stay under the radar and didn’t want to draw Pubsec’s attention. Definitely not if it meant exposing his messy connection to this troublemaker.
Malter let out a deep sigh. “Alright, I’ll shut it down.”
The Pubsec officers were pretty shocked when they showed up. All the chaos—the drones and explosions that had lit up the sky over Lumina—suddenly disappeared. A few drones crashed into the ocean, and the flames just vanished like they’d been blown out by a strong wind. The once-crazy skyline was now peaceful again.
Malter tucked away his control device–a sleek projector screen–and with just a few code entry, the whole mess he’d caused disappeared without a trace.
Wise wasn’t really surprised by Malter’s hacking skills. Honestly, he’d rather have Malter teach him how to use that super advanced tech, instead of getting these dramatic ‘gifts’
Malter slumped his shoulders, letting out a pouting lips and tilting his head in clear disappointment. What he hated the most was when all his effort went unnoticed.
Wise sighed, giving in. "Alright, let’s grab some coffee. Then we can take a drive around Lumina in my car." He turned to Dobberboo. "Hey, Dobber, can you put the weapon away and head to the car?”
“Ehnn-na!” Dobberboo chirped happily, bouncing around as Wise gave him a pat on the head. The little Bangboo quickly tucked his weapon away, zipped up, and dashed off to follow the order.
Malter, still processing Wise’s unexpected offer, blinked in disbelief. His expression lit up with surprise. “Wait—are we going on a date?!”
Wise could only sigh. “Yes—a date. But I can’t stay too long. I have a commissi–HEY!”
Before he could finish, Malter had already scooped him up in a bridal carry, grinning like a mischievous fox. “Come on! Let’s go have a car se—”
“Dobberboo is right there!” Wise protested, smacking Malter on the head with a firm hand. Dobberboo was still nearby, looking confused by the sudden distraction.
Malter flinched but didn’t let go. “Ugh, I guess next time, I’ll just leave Dobberboo behind.” He shot a childish glare at the Bangboo.
Dobberboo responded with a mechanical chirp of protest, clearly offended by its master's look. The two always seemed to compete for Wise's attention.
Wise rubbed his temples, muttering softly, "I don't know what's worse—your childish behavior or your perverted antics..."
Malter smirked. "I'll take that as a 'let's go.'"

On the other side of the city, Kou was cooking up his own little scheme. Knowing how seriously Seth took his job, he dropped an anonymous tip about a “big illegal operation.” Kou had set up a series of decoys—fake smugglers, counterfeit packages, and suspicious cargo.
Seth found himself leaving the Pubsec to track down the troublemaker who seemed to get a kick out of messing with him. For hours, Seth ran around, his frustration building as he tried to piece it all together. He asked people, jotted down notes, and followed the tiniest of leads. Even the people who knew him best and were used to his constant questions just shook their heads when asked about the guy he was hunting.
“Let it go, Seth,” one of them said, shaking their head. “He’s just a kid messing with you. Probably just wants your attention. Honestly, for someone like you, it’s not surprising.”
Honestly, this troublemaker knew how to stay under the radar—or at least cover his tracks well enough to avoid any real problems. Seth had figured out that Kou mainly worked with the upper-class crowd and stayed away from causing trouble for regular folks. Because of that, most people didn’t really see him as a threat. Kou even had a reputation for being a helpful courier, working hard to help Eridu’s traders without ever asking for money. Everything else he got up to, though, was a mystery, known only to him and his group of troublemaking friends.
But that’s exactly what grabbed Seth’s attention. To him, any crime, no matter how 'good' it seemed, needed to be dealt with. Even if Kou thought of himself as a modern-day Robin Hood, Seth was convinced that the law should still take action. Letting criminals justify bad behavior in the name of good would only lead to more chaos.
By the time lunch came around, Seth was completely drained after chasing down bits of info scribbled in his notes. Kou was like an eel—slippery as hell and hard to catch. Frustrated and starving, Seth headed to a burger cafe, his stomach growling louder than ever.
To his surprise, there was Kou, grinning like an idiot while happily serving customers at the counter.
"Kou!" Seth growled, pulling out his cuffs. "What’s going on here? You think you can just mess with Pubsec like that?"
The whole place went dead silent as Seth stormed in, making a scene. He already had his cuffs out, ready to slap them on Kou right there.
“Oh, babe! Here for the triple-patty super burger? One for your brother too?” Kou cut him off smoothly, pointing at a bright poster on the wall. “We’ve got a deal today—buy two burgers, get five free sides. Fries, nuggets, whatever you like. And guess what? You’re our 100th customer! Lucky you, sweetheart—you get to pick five sides for free.”
“What the–” Seth started, but his stomach growled loud enough to drown out his complaints. And with the line behind him already looking annoyed, he didn’t have the energy to fight back.
“Fine. Two burgers, deluxe chicken fries, nuggets, a Coke…” Seth mumbled his order, giving in with a sigh. Kou just smiled warmly, clearly amused—and maybe a little smitten.
“Coming right up, babe. Two package of perfect meals just for you,” Kou said with a playful wink, already turning to prepare the order.
"Do–don’t call me babe—Hey?? I only ordered two burgers!" Seth stammered, glaring.
"Take one home for dinner with your brother," Kou replied smoothly, flashing a confident smirk. "The other? Lunch with me. After this, I’m sitting with you, beautiful."
Seth’s face turned bright red. "Y–you! You’re still in trouble after this!" he sputtered, trying to sound serious.
Kou leaned in closer, his voice sounded like mischief. "If it means spending more time with you, officer, I don’t mind."
Seth gritted his teeth, his face turning even redder. His tail, however, betrayed him, wagging uncontrollably despite his best efforts to keep it still. "You’re impossible.”

By the end of the night, New Eridu had calmed down, finally going back to its usual pace after all the chaos caused by two love-struck troublemakers, Malter and Kou.
Wise, reluctantly impressed by Malter’s boldness, said, “You’re reckless, but… at least you’ve still got a heart.” He glanced at Malter, who was quietly admiring the cityscape outside the car window after their unexpectedly memorable date. In moments like this, Malter seemed sane enough—almost deserving of Wise’s affection.
Seth, on the other hand, grumbled, “You’re a pain, but… I just can’t get rid of you.” He tucked away Kou’s criminal file and sighed, finishing off the dessert from their earlier burger date. This multi-talented (rebel) Kou can even baked a ridiculously delicious cake that made Seth forget all about his efforts. Kou was in front of him–just laughed, knowing he’d be back on the streets—and back in Seth’s sights—soon enough.
As New Eridu went back to its usual routine, it seemed like the public still couldn’t forget the incident that had caused such a stir, all because of those two.
But for Malter and Kou, it’s just part of their devotion. For people like them, it’s all worth it—for their lover’s attention, no matter the chaos and trouble they cause.
