Work Text:
Atsushi awoke in his dark room, the cold air slightly hitting his hands making him flinch his hands back under the covers warming himself back up. Once he felt comfortable again he reached out, only, not to his gorgeous lover who evens out hot and cold summers and winters, but to cold sheets. Its clear his hound has been away from their bed for quite a while or else the bed wouldn't be this cold and foreboding. He hates it when he awakes to the empty bed only being filled by him himself.
Akutagawa has been doing this more often as of late. after the decay of angles, Fyodor, and Amonogozen were all resolved, somewhat, Akutagawa has been working his ass off to get the port mafia to its original state, and with Mori choosing his candidate from the ADA to the port mafia, he finally accepted Dazai would never be what he formerly was, and gave the vacant position to Akutagawa.
And this just had to mean Akutagawa had every assignment in the god forsaken world..
...
Okay, maybe not every assignment, but Atsushi has spoken to Chuuya about work before, and he doesn't have this much work! Nor does he leave his sad lonely beautiful darling alone in the cold dead of night. Atsushi would know, considering Dazai wouldn't shut up about it for a full week, for some reason he probably doesn't want to know the answer to.
Nevermind that, he has to find his beloved. Although, knowing him, he's probably in the office of their apartment. So, Atsushi slowly climes out of bed, doing his best not to make any sound that would alert Ryuunosuke that he has woken up and is now searching for him, to lure him back to bed.
He cat-like walked towards to door, stumbling a moment due to his lack of sleep, which wouldn't have been a problem had his lover not left him cold and alone.
He's growing sick of you.
No, none of that. He is in a somewhat stable, and healthy relationship, the echo's of his horrid past is behind him, where it will stay.
Once Atsushi reached the door he slowly cracked it open, hoping it wouldn't creak loudly as it has been doing for the past week and a half, though surprisingly it didn't creak at all, a low hum and the door was completely opened. Did Akutagawa fix it? Nevermind, he's on a mission right now.
Passing by the kitchen, that was decent, he might have to clean up a small bit, but its clean enough. He passes and approaches the office door, finding their small cat, they got her recently, she's more like Akutagawa than atsushi so she usually gravitates towards him. Must be why she's lying at his door at the moment.
The small cat letting out tired meows every few seconds, swishing her tail from side to side in a circled move. She's clearly tired, and annoyed. At least they have that in common right now. He can hear the subtle clacking of the keys against Akutagawa's boney hands, the clicking of the mouse every few minutes. Atsushi looks down at the tired cat, and realizing himself, decides he has to know what was so important he had to cause them both distress in the middle of the night.
Atsushi slightly cracking the door open, seeing the beautiful walls, and simple design of his apartment, be absolutely lost in his partners piles upon piles of work. Atsushi seriously believes he needs to chat with Nakahara-san because there is no way this can be considered normal. He walks in, examining most of the papers on the floor close by the desk, most just reports on what happened during a mission, similar to what he does. Some were annoying requests for a pay raise, that they didn't need.
The low-level port mafia grunts get paid twice the amount he does, so he wonders why Ryuunosuke would even spend his sleepless nights on something like that.
Atsushi slides behind Akutagawa, holding him from behind the chair, "Ryuu, baby, come back to bed please? its the middle of the night." Atsushi slurred into Akutagawa's ear. He didn't miss the way Akutagawa slightly jumped, head jerking completely back. Atsushi didn't miss the way he had actually spooked Akutagawa. It was, actually, scary. He had managed to scare Ryunosuke, even with his stumbling and the cat meowing, Atsushi was sure he wasn't being sneaky, he wasn't
Atsushi nuzzled in his ear, causing Ryunosuke to grumble slightly, "Baby, come to bed, you are clearly exhausted and we both have work tomorrow." Atsushi said, the worry evident in his voice, though, Akutagawa was barely listening. He looked distant, even though he was looking in Atsushi's eyes, he felt distant.
Ryuunosuke doesn't work in the morning like Atsushi does, but he still needs a healthy amount of rest.
He shook his head, it was a moment before he began to speak, looking as if he was finding the words to defend himself. Before Atsushi could speak, to break the silence, Akutagawa spoke, "I'm quite fine, Jinko. I am not tired, it would be better if you just went to back to our room to rest." Akutagawa spoke, with his voice firm, leaving no room for argument.
Atsushi sighed, these nights are sleepless for both of them, usually Akutagawa would have heard Atsushi, and some form of chaos would come and keep them up for hours growing stress forcing them to lash out at each other when it finally was too much.
Pushing his head up, hair sticking our everywhere, untamed.
He looked around, wondering pointlessly how he was going to convince Akutagawa to sleep. Atsushi tried and prodded more, "Ryuu?" He whined, to Akutagawa's side now, closer to his chest, it was so comfortable he thought he might fall asleep here. Akutagawa shifted, better accommodating to the newly added weight, still, it seemed like he wasn't getting up any time soon. With his sleep hazed brain he tries to come up with anything to convince him, "wont you warm me up in our bed, please?" he begged. Begging made him feel so helpless.
Akutagawa didn't even budge he thought that would warrant a response, before Akutagawa grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him to look Atsushi in the eyes. He gasped from the sudden jerk, from looking at black with white hair fading into it, to looking at those beautiful thoughtless eyes, the ones that made him wonder what made them so sad.
Despite his soul crushing eyes he had to pull away from to look at the rest of his face, he has that annoyingly serious face, that one where he wont budge no matter what.
