Chapter Text

Vanessa softly kissed Maxine's lips, she backed away a little and looked at Max’ eyes. She grabbed her hand begging her to hold hers. Max let go, instead of the simple intimacy Vanessa wanted, she went in for another kiss.

They have been long distance girlfriends for almost 2 years, Ness used to live in Hurricane when she was younger but she moved out at 18. After her step-father's death she returned to take care of her younger half-sister. She was her last living immediate family member. Ness has been avoiding everyone blood related to her ever since she was in her late teens, Vanessa knows exactly how it is to lose a parent you love and wanted to give her sister the comfort she never had. Her step-father was the worst person she had in her life, he hated her and she hated him.

It was around 2 am and they were parked outside of an abandoned pizzeria almost out of town. Vanessa only said yes because Maxine promised it would be romantic, if anything it was the opposite but it didn't matter, all she needed was Maxine sitting next to her. Max yawned, “We should really go back, I am starting to get tired.”

“Me too Saf, but are you sure you can drive?” Max jokingly scoffed, “Yeah of course I can drive, I am Maxine fucking Muratovich. I could even fight a lion right now” She clenched her fist and punched the air.

They were interrupted by a loud scream coming from the building, Vanessa stood up in shock, hitting her head on the headliner, she held her head in pain, “Fuck! Why did I do that?” Max looked at her, she didn't react at all. Ness took long, deep breaths trying to relieve her pain, “Saf, Do you have a painkiller? Shit, it hurts so bad.” Maxine shakes her head, “No, I don't think I do, should I call the paramedics?” She looked at Vanessa waiting for an answer, “I am fine, it wasn't that serious.”

They heard another scream but this time it was louder. Vanessa looked outside, “I have to check that out.” Max grabbed Ness by her jacket, “Please don't.”

“Saf I have to go.”

“Vanessa please just don't..it's late, let's go home.”

“Someone is screaming.”

“I know but I have a bad feeling about this.” She gripped onto Vanessa, her hand was starting to shake. She looked at her girlfriend, “You are making such a big mistake, what if you get hurt.”

Vanessa looked at Max, “Don't worry Saf, I'm gonna be fine, I'll just check if someone is in danger and run back to you.” She kissed her on her forehead and gave her a smile. She ran to the entrance, it was unlocked, before she entered, she grabbed a small pink flashlight from her fanny pack, ‘Click’ the light wasn't bright enough but it was usable.

When she saw the dirty checkered floor, she knew exactly where she was. A stench hit her nose, it was the smell of fire. Fire that was put out years ago, yet haunting the place, like a stain that won't go away. “Is anybody here?” A loud scream, Ness dropped her flashlight to cover her ears, they were ringing. She picked her flashlight up and looked around, everything was where it was supposed to be, just like it was frozen in time.

Vanessa remembers when she used to go here when she was young. That goddamn scream again. She followed the direction of the scream, Ness was led into a hallway with multiple doors.

Vanessa looked around the hallway, eyeing every little thing in the room. The walls were burnt and moldy, there was a single poster hung, it was framed nicely but broken, you could barely even make out Freddy.

She was stalling because something in her body was telling her to go back, her body was trembling, she pushed open the first door on the left. Something crashed down from above, lunging toward Vanessa. She struggled to get it off her, but it was too strong…her flashlight dropped from her hands, it broke as soon as it reached the ground.

“I missed you.”

Her ID wasn't scanning, her tears were rolling down her face and her face was red, she swiped it over the card machine multiple times, it still wasn't reading. She knew that she was doomed, she knew exactly what would happen. She turned around to look at it, “What do you want from me? If you want to kill me, just do it already.” She felt helpless, adrenaline was rushing through her veins but she couldn't fight or run away, she just stood there crying.

It looked at her from the shadows, it lurked in the dark as if it was trying to hide itself from her, it wasn't moving. She held her knife wound looking at it, “I don't want to live please just kill me already.” Her voice was hoarse as a crow. It tilted its head, “Are you sure?” She was freaked out, it sounded exactly like her, it crawled out of the darkness it was in and she finally had a good look at the creature. It was like staring into a mirror, her body froze, she couldn't comprehend what she was even looking at.

She stood there, she didn't believe in God, she didn't even believe in herself but she did believe in death, ever since her mother's demise that was the only thing she believed in. She prepared herself for her own death, she closed her eyes waiting for what was going to happen to her.

She heard it approaching her, she locked her breath, she choked on her own blood as her throat was being sliced. She collapsed on the floor and hit her head on the stair rail, she couldn't see or move but she felt every stab and slice that was inflicted on her body.

Everything was oh so painful, until it stopped completely.

Vanessa opened her eyes up and she was back in the car, Maxine looking at her, “Are you okay?” She reached her hand out to pat her on the head. Ness flinched because she felt like something was wrong but she let her touch her anyway. “Wh..What happened?”

“What do you mean what happened?” Ness looked at the pizzeria outside. “I was inside there and something attacked me and..and” Max grabbed Vanessa's chin to make her look at her. “What are you talking about?” She raised her eyebrows. “You know when someone was screamin-” Her girlfriend interrupted her, “Ness, what scream?”

“What..?We heard it a couple minutes ago.” Max looked confused, “Well a couple minutes ago we were kissing and you passed out right on my arms.” Vanessa hyperventilated, “But-but..” Max awkwardly hugged her. “Calm down Ness, I don't want your pretty throat to hurt.” Maxine smiled.

“Let's go home.” She kissed her on the lips.

Max started up her engine and was ready to drive, Vanessa opened her fanny pack and looked for her flashlights with her hands, it was missing. Ness looked at Maxine awkwardly and gave her a fake smile.
