A Ball Of Snow

Summary:

Wang Gakyeon is playing with Hwanggu in the snow. One of her snowballs fly... a little too far.

Jaegal is not pleased. Baby Cheonhee even more so.

Work Text:

Baby Cheonhee was playing in the snow again. The first few times Jaegal brought him to experience snow, Cheonhee had been reluctant and even a little scared. Now, though, Cheonhee loved it.

The coldness of the snow. The way it melted quickly in his hands. The texture and feel of it as he squeezed the snow in his tiny fists….

Now, baby Cheonhee would look out the window excitedly, point at the snow, and use his adorable eyes to make Jaegal cave in and bring him outside.

Today was one of those days — Cheonhee, wrapped in layers of warm clothing as always, was accompanied by Jaegal, who wore his usual blue robe coupled with a simple coat on the outside. Jaegal had thankfully been healed by the adult Cheonhee at this point, so he wasn't afraid of the cold. The extra coat was mostly for show — plus, Jaegal had ordered this coat to be matching with baby Cheonhee's outfit, with white as the main color and hints of blue and green patterns on the hem of the coats.

Baby Cheonhee sat on the snow, Jaegal crouching at an arm's length from him. Cheonhee had been busy patting the ball of snow in his hand, shaping it carefully and working with furrowed brows.

Jaegal was absentmindedly pinching some snow between his two fingers, his eyes focused on his baby's movements.

Out of a sudden, Jaegal noticed something flying towards his baby, rapidly approaching. His instinct making him move, Jaegal swiftly opened his fan and blocked the incoming attack, his eyes turning cold as he saw the ‘thing’ that was about to attack Cheonhee.

It was a ball of snow.

…Where did it come from?

And snow, as a weapon?

“Sorry, sorry!” he heard a voice shouting, and baby Cheonhee turned to look at the source of the voice. Jaegal's eyes narrowed as he saw two figures approaching them, namely Gakyeon and Hwanggu.

“Sorry,” it was Gakyeon who had spoken. “Hwanggu and I were playing snowball fighting,” she panted. She must've been running here.

“I must've gotten out of hand, I'm sorry,” Gakyeon bowed towards Jaegal Lin and he eyes her coldly.

If he had been a beat slower, the ball of ice-cold snow would've hit his Cheonhee. His baby was fragile, what if he ended up with a bruise?

Jaegal decided to have a word with her father later on.

For now, though, he didn’t want to fuss too much, he simply nodded at her and waved for her to go away. As if granted amnesty, Wang Gakyeon and Hwanggu quickly bowed in his direction and scurried away.

As they were leaving, though, Jaegal suddenly saw a ball of snow flying through the air, hitting Gakyeon with a splat.

Jaegal Lin was stunned, as was Wang Gakyeon, who reflexively turned around. The two of them looked at the culprit, baby Cheonhee, who was glaring at Wang Gakyeon and… was he pouting?

“Hee?” Jaegal Lin asked tentatively.

“Mashter,” Cheonhee said sheepishly.

“…It’s alright, Hee, you can throw snowballs at her as much as you want,” Jaegal reassured his baby who had averted his eyes, “I’m just curious why you did that.”

Baby Cheonhee bit his lips and was quiet for a few seconds before replying.

“…evenge.”

“Ah?” Jaegal was stupefied.

“…ee,venge! Almos’, hit, Mashter!” Baby Cheonhee shouted, crossing his arms and eyeing Wang Gakyeon with accusing eyes.

“Evenge? Oh!” Jaegal’s eyes lit up.

“Revenge?”

“Yes,” baby Cheonhee nodded.

Jaegal felt a smile bloom on his face.

“Revenge because she almost hit Master with the snowball?” He asked again.

“Yes!” Baby Cheonhee nodded, pursing his lips and reaching out for Jaegal Lin’s hand.

“Mast,er. Almos’ hurt,” Cheonhee said, frowning a little.

Jaegal Lin suppressed a scream and picked up his baby, hugging Cheonhee and smiling broadly.

“Thank you baby, that’s very kind of you,” he managed to say, feeling immensely pleased with himself.

His baby was too precious! His baby, taking revenge for him? Absolutely adorable!

(Meanwhile, Gakyeon and Hwanggu on the side: “…”).
