Albert always had the best of things, so obviously, he went to an elite high school. It was a very prestigious academy that hosted an inter school chess tournament every year. They almost always won...every year a different 12th grader would win the prize. This year, Albert's parents insisted he take part, since he was finally in the 12th grade. He was good at chess, no doubt, but he never liked competitions because his opponents were usually no match to him
On the other hand, in a high school that was in the middle of rural York, was Mycroft. He was brilliant, sure, but life didn't throw many opportunities the way of villagers.
Normally the chess tournament of Albert's school- Evengaurd, was restricted to other posh schools, but that year they felt charitable. So an invitation was extended to Mycroft's school- Kane and Thompson's public school. The school insisted he go. They said it'd potentially win the school benefits, and that it would win Mycroft extra credit if he won.
Mycroft wanted to go to college SO BAD, and he wouldn't be able too without a hell of a lot of scholarships, so...he agreed.
At the gates of Evengaurd, he felt... Very out of place
(prompt to potentially explore hypocrisies in Albert's thinking, where he may think he's 0 percent classist, but somethings just are conditioned into him, even if he doesn't overtly believe them. Could be an interesting exploration of Albert's character, me thinks, and maybe if they meet again in the future as in canon....)
(may help Albert to actually befriend those who he's fighting for I guess.)
