Work Text:
Nayeon has made a biggest mistake, making a unbelievable blame at the worse scenario. She wished to end all of the shame she had, and that she wouldn't have to feel guilty about blaming Gyeongsu for being infected.
God. She wanted to get it over. She felt the looks around her, the looks of disbelief and disappointment, she was always used to it.
"She's always like that, Ms. Park, she never changed."
Ms. Park sighed and took a look at her with doubtful eyes, saying, "I can't believe you would do this, Nayeon.." Jimin rolled her eyes, and Nayeon was too coward to defend herself.
Nayeon's only option was to bow her head and feel terrible about her lies.
"Why are you like this, Nayeon?" Cheongsan snapped, giving her a frown look, Nayeon was too coward to speak, she couldn't respond. She gulped, honestly a question she used to ask herself before. Why is she like that?
"Half an hour has passed, but Gyeongsu never turned, is this what you call evidence?" Cheongsan ranted, "What the fuck did even Gyeongsu do to you?"
Cheongsan was ready to blow a punch anytime, luckily Daesu and Suhyeok were fast enough to pick Cheongsan. "Cheongsan, calm down.." Onjo warned, he nodded, automatically he understood.
Nayeon still bitten by guilt, remained quiet, rethinking her bad decisions, "Nayeon, I don't understand why you'd treat Gyeongsu like this, this fight between you two has never been solved ever since this conflict has started,"
"Honestly, I don't see the improvements having you apologize to Gyeongsu for calling him.. what was that word?"
"Well.. uh... welfie, miss." Hyoryeong hesitated at first. Right. That word. Ms Park sighs, "Yes, that word. As a teacher, hearing a student being bullied just because of their complexity is very saddening."
Shit. Nayeon thought, Ms Park knew I apologized unsincerely? Damn it, who was she kidding anyway? Gyeongsu isn't dumb, Nayeon couldn't complain because what the teacher spat was all true.
"Why don't you be genuine and apologize to him and try to get along with him?" The teacher assumed, Nayeon never, ever apologized to him, she was a bratty person, and if she did apologize, how would she be forgiven that easily afterall of her negative traits thrown to Gyeongsu? Nayeon lost her hope, she was hopeless.
"If you want to get this over with, then why won't you try to befriend him, apologize to him, it won't be that hard especially if it truly is genuine. Do this, for yourself, and for Gyeongsu." Right, for her. For Gyeongsu, who was she kidding? She definitely owes him an apology, she looked to the big window where Gyeongsu had been staying at, then looks at Ms. Park, eyes asking her for consideration.
Nayeon shrugged, she shouldn't put too much grudge over small things Gyeongsu does.
Still ashamed, she lazily stood up from her seat and she sighed deeply, as she's looking at her classmates glaring dead at her, she rolled her eyes, there's no turning back.
She inhaled, she walked almost to the door, peeking inside to see Gyeongsu, who was still focused on his own business, and then opened and shut the door afterwards. There she met the boy, looking at his corners, knowing who the person who came in, then looked away, seemingly annoyed.
Oh, God. Is it guilt or the cold air that caused her body to ring? She's not sure. She moved closer to the boy, feeling woozy and anxious. She's not sure if it's the tears that are slipping in or the eyes of the people behind the windows who are watching her every move.
Fuck it.
"Hey." Despite feeling lightheaded and was very drenched in sweat, she got no answer, no hum, no movement, nothing. He sat there and presumably listened to her, but he probably won't respond.
"Gyeongsu." She mumbled, almost nothing but a feather, she stood like a tree, fumbling with her fingers in her pink, blood-stained sweater, waiting for a response.
But she received nothing, again, dead air. She was running out of patience, she had to figure this out quickly. "Gyeongsu, are you ignoring me?"
"If you're starting another fight, you can leave."
Nayeon bowed her head. "No.. I wasnt trying
to do that, I wanted to— apologize."
"Really? Maybe apologize as a joke. Like you did before this chaos happened." Gyeongsu scoffs, "I know you're apologizing for your reputation."
"No, Gyeongsu, I really wanted to apologize, not for my reputation— but for you."
Gyeongsu frozed, he had to look at her, spinning the chair to her response, "Really? Don't force yourself, Nayeon, that's not you." he rolled his eyes.
Nayeon had enough, he can't be this stubborn, she's been standing here for— who knows what time it is, 2? 5? 8 minutes? Who knows? Nayeon admits, Gyeongsu is being a shit right now, having her heart beating fast just to get judged for her acts. Okay, she guessed that was right.
"Gyeongsu, don't be like a bitch right now." Nayeon scowls, Gyeongsu raised an eyebrow, "See? Haven't you said you're going to apologize? What's with that attitude?" Gyeongsu looks away, crossing his arms.
"Leave now." Then he spins his chair away, God, he's so stubborn, Nayeon feels her blood boil as time tick, Nayeon thinks, *Why am I wasting my time here?*
"Gyeongsu."
Ignored.
"Gyeongsu."
Ignored.
"Gyeongsu.."
For Godsakes, ignored.
"Fucking hell, Gyeongsu!"
He spun.
"What the fuck do you want?"
"Don't be such a shit now, I just want to apologize!" Nayeon yells, the boy infront was taken aback, Gyeongsu glared at her.
Nayeon gulped, "Okay.. I know, it's weird to see me apologizing like a douchebag, well.. It's just— I have been taking it too far, and I know it. I've apologized unsincerely to you, multiple times, and I know you're not that dumb—"
"Okay..?" Gyeongsu nods slowly.
"But now, I think I do have to apologize to you, sincerely and genuinely, and I can't mess it up this time.." Nayeon huffs, "I— I'm sorry."
"I am terribly sorry, I really am. What I did to you hours ago, is just horrible, including the time before this shit happened. And the times I kept blabbing for you living in welfare, it was so, so terrible. I apologize. I'm sorry." Nayeon spat, fiddling her fingers, almost teared up.
Gyeongsu raised his eyebrows, shocked by the stated words, okay, wow, genuine? Damn. Gyeongsu was speechless. "Okay." Gyeongsu nods.
"Really?"
"What?"
"Okay? What does that even mean?"
"I approve."
Nayeon scoffs, "So you forgive me now?" Gyeongsu let out a laugh, "The hell are you laughing for?"
He can't be kidding, Nayeon thought, she rolled her eyes, "I mean— who wouldn't thought of Nayeon apologizing sincerely and almost tearing up." He chuckled.
"Shut up. I wasn't crying, dumbass." Nayeon glared, he shrugged, and then spun directly to the plain wall, "I'll think whether I'll forgive you or... not."
Nayeon couldn't help but look at his scratched hand earlier that day, she can't help but still feel guilty for it. "Is your wound okay now?"
"Never knew Lee Nayeon worries about me." She scoffs, she walked forward then snatched his arm, taking a hidden blue handkerchief in her skirt then handing it over to his scratched hand.
"Geez, you're going to tear my whole limb apart!" Gyeongsu shooked his head.
"Should I do it?"
"You can't do it."
She shrugged.
"What are you going to do with my hand anyway?"
"Isn't it obvious? I'm cleaning it." Nayeon utters, he nodded, "Hm, okay."
There's just a sudden silence between them while Nayeon cleaned his wound, Nayeon felt happy because she finally got to tell what heavy she's been feeling.
"But would you forgive me, even after blaming you for turning like those creatures outside?" Nayeon starts, he stared at the handkerchief, thinking what to say, "Well, I'd still forgive you even after that, but.. I'd never forget that."
"I understand.." Nayeon says faint, but despite that, she's definitely happy to hear she's forgiven rather than living in guilt.
"But hey, I forgive you now, so I guess what happened earlier can be forgotten now. We're okay." He smiled.
"Really?"
"You don't believe me?"
"I do."
"Yes, I forgive you."
Nayeon swore to God, her movements were too fast, she had her arms around Gyeongsu's neck, hugging perhaps, Gyeongsu flushed by the sudden move. Then hugging her back afterwards.
Nayeon alarmed, she immediately jolted her body, "Fuck, sorry." She looked at Gyeongsu, red as a tomato, "Uh.. No— it's fine."
"You're very red."
"Me?
"Yes.."
Gyeongsu gulped, "That's nothing— you're also red too."
"Okay."
Awkward for Nayeon, but whatever she did was another move to make them both be close, not totally close. But that's what she thought. Their classmates probably are panicking by now, and maybe Ms. Park's proud of her.
