Work Text:
For once in their time together Stu wasn't the one sleeping. Stu sat propped up in bed as Nina slumbered beside him, laying on her side with her arm outstretched to lay across his lap. He looked down at her and smiled, running a hand over her buzzcut hair. He liked it when Nina visited him. He enjoyed the time he spent with her, and definitely enjoyed the bedroom activities they got up to. It was no secret that he was sleeping with Nina despite her being their PR manager. Stu didn't see an issue with it and why should there be? It's not like Nina was the type to gossip (part of her job was to stop the gossip so it made no sense for Nina to make her job harder) or to act irrationally if something isn't going her way. If anything, Nina is the most rational person he's ever met, besides Russel. He liked that about her. She always seemed to be in control of herself and he loved a woman who presented any control.
Just like how he loved Paula.
Stu's hand stopped moving along Nina's head. He hadn't thought of Paula in a while (or ever). What would she think if she knew he was sleeping with their PR manager? Would she become irrationally angry and start throwing anything she could get her hands on at him or would she stare at him with disappointment in her eyes? Stu tried to imagine each scenario and how he was the cause of hurting Paula, but he felt nothing. Sure it would be awful if that happened, but that was neither here nor there. If it wasn't happening in the present then what was the point of worrying about it now?
Nina scooted closer to Stu, pressing her forehead against him. Stu moved his hand to toy with the bracelet around her wrist. It wasn't as if he had any romantic feelings for Nina and he didn't think Nina had any for him. They were friends who happened to fool around every now and then. Stu didn't see the big issue with it (he already knew Murdoc had gripes about it, but honestly, he thought that maybe Murdoc was jealous). It wasn't as if it was a complicated relationship or that they were doing something forbidden. Now he was thinking too hard about it. He chuckled to himself,
"I'm such a wanker," he said to himself.
"Huh?"
Stu looked down and saw Nina blearily looking up at him. He waved a dismissive hand, "Nothing to worry 'bout. Go back to sleep."
Nina hummed, "Alright, thanks for letting me. Sorry, I'm boring today."
"No problem an' you're not borin'."
Stu leaned down and kissed the top of Nina's head, earning him a pleased hum as Nina closed her eyes again. Stu placed a hand on top of her head, leaned his head back, and smiled. What he and Nina had going on was a good thing.
