Bookman
The duty to record
mingled with the love of books and knowledge
and chocked down, but still burning, the wish to help
let humanity make the same mistakes
time and time again
let them dig their own graves
time and time again
the important part is to record
for they will not listen
time and time again
even if you try to help them with all you know
all reason is lost to them
(others have tried before you)
(there is no saving them)
and jet is it not the duty of the wise man to impart his knowledge?
is it not a sin to refuse help and let people suffer?
without a heart these questions of morale hardly matter
but every bookman is still human
a heart is part of being such
(as much as they try to deny it)
therefore they must suffer
they cannot avert their eyes
recording goes above everything else
time and time again?
the love of books and knowledge
mixed with the bitter taste of heartbreak and regret
and the agonizing realization that in the end it will all be for nought
