“Soobin, you’re here again?” Yeonjun questioned as he gently removed his sunglasses, waving to his nephew goodbye.

“Ah, yeah I decided to bring you and Taehyun coffee” Soobin smiled before handing him his coffee, Taehyun already got his and went out to go to his workplace after kissing his boyfriend goodbye. 

“Coffee? I can pass by your cafe after dropping Sora you know. Are you sure that’s the only reason” Yeonjun teased a bit as he wiggled his eyebrow, it has been a few months since he met Soobin in this daycare center which is honestly confusing for him because Soobin doesn’t have a child or a nephew or niece that he takes care of like Yeonjun. 

“Of course that’s the only reason,” Soobin sounded defensive.”I was just concerned about your caffeine intake,” he pouted until he heard a familiar voice, his favorite voice.

“Good morning kids,” It was Kai, one of the teachers working in the preschool, and probably the reason why Soobin wakes up happily these past few days. 

“Good morning Teacher Hyuka,” the kids greeted him back enthusiastically.

“Before entering our classroom, please fall in line and make sure to do it by height. First rule is no pushing okay?” He continued instructing the kids gently and Soobin felt endeared with the sight. 

He was looking intently at the scene in front of him when suddenly Kai looked directly at him and smiled, making him  panic and blush.

“Bye Sora, listen to your teacher okay?” Yeonjun waved goodbye to his nephew and later on waved goodbye to his teacher. 

After gathering the kids and ushering them inside their classroom, Kai took one last peak outside and looked straight at Soobin and waved at him.

Soobin waved back shyly, trying his best to hide his blush.

“Okay, I’m leaving now,” Soobin announced as he pretended to check that everyone had entered their classrooms.

“I knew you weren’t here to simply give me coffee. Stop using coffee just so you could see your crush, just admut your feelings already” Yeonjun sneered at him as he took a sip of the coffee given to him. 

“Shut up, I don’t have any other reason and whatever you’re saying is not true hyung,” Soobin said as he brushed off Yeonjun’s teasing, trying to hide his smile after seeing the reason why he visited so early. Soobin waved as he exited the place, ignoring some more of Yeonjun’s teasing, pretending it wasn’t true, even if he himself knew Yeonjun was telling the truth.

Walking back to the coffee shop where he worked made Soobin remember when this all started. 

It was a sunny day like this one a year ago. 

Soobin started his day not so well. 

He woke up late for his class, he messed up the documents he needed for the said class, he was almost late for his shift, and now an angry customer came and threw their cold coffee on his face. 

“Hey, go take a break first, I’ll deal with this,” his boss instructed and he agreed immediately as he was already close to tears and he didn’t want anyone to witness that. 

He went to the washroom hurriedly and while he was washing his face, he heard the door open and he covered his face with the washcloth to hide his tear-stained eyes from whoever had entered. 

“Hey are you okay?” it was an unfamiliar voice but Soobin knew he was the one being addressed as he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder.

He didn’t know what to expect when he turned around but he was surprised to come face to face with an angel. He felt embarrassed that he saw him like this and he simply wanted the ground to open up and swallow him whole until the kind angel spoke. 

“I saw what happened. Do you have a change of clothes?” The stranger sounded worried and Soobin couldn’t answer, he looked at his drenched sweater and shook his head. 

The kind stranger slowly handed a gray hoodie and when Soobin looked at him, he was offering him a warm smile. 

Soobin almost melted at the spot. 

This must be the kindest face he has ever seen in his life.

He took the jacket but before he could thank him, the kind angel left the bathroom already. 

Soobin couldn’t help but cry from the kind gesture he received after having a horrible day. 

After wearing the hoodie and finally calming himself down, Soobin realized he forgot one thing. 

He forgot to ask for his name.

It was another chaotic day at the cafe and Soobin was feeling frustrated because he wasn’t able to visit the daycare center earlier today and now he was simply looking forward to his shift ending and finally being able to visit. 

On his way to the daycare center, he came across Taehyun and they decided to go there together since they both have the same agenda. 

See the people they like (but according to Taehyun, he doesn’t just like Beomgyu, he loves him so much and Soobin wasn’t going to argue with that because he could clearly see just how much Taehyun loves Beomgyu) 

Taehyun hugged Beomgyu immediately once they arrived at the daycare center and Soobin laughed at how extra they were because why is Taehyun twirling Beomgyu in his embrace in the middle of the school garden? 

“Get a room, the kids are watching” Yeonjun suddenly appeared beside him, shooing the couple away.

“Why are you here?”  Soobin asked Yeonjun judgingly but they both knew it was a joke. 

“I have a nephew to fetch, how about you, why are you here? Do you have a nephew like me?” Yeonjun retaliated and Soobin laughed at how sassy he was. 

“My roommate is here,” Soobin responded, pointing at the direction where Taehyun and Beomgyu were. 

“Yeah your roommate who forgot about you and is now busy with his boyfriend,” Yeonjun simply informed him as he fixed his sunglasses on top of his head. 

Soobin looked at them and they were now both busy looking at something on Beomgyu's phone, holding hands and glued to each other’s side.

“You know you can get busy with somebody else if you would simply confess,” Yeonjun shrugged, challenging Soobin. 

“I don’t know what you’re talking about” Soobin pushed his suggestion down, pretending he doesn't understand what the other was saying.

“Really? Cause everyone can see how you look at Teacher Hyuka” Yeonjun smirked at him and as if on cue, Soobin blushed. 

“I look at him normally, I look at him just how I look at you and the others” Soobin defended himself from Yeonjun’s teasing but sadly he was already defeated because he didn’t know how but Yeonjun could see right through him clearly.

“I don’t think you look at me with heart eyes Soobin” Yeonjun stated with a straight face.

“Just mind your own lovelife” he answered instead as he couldn’t think of any good answer to respond to Yeonjun. 

“Nah, that thing isn’t for me. I’m enjoying watching you guys be dumb and oblivious though so I’m good” Yeonjun answered, looking disgusted with Soobin’s suggestion.

“I am not dumb and oblivious” Soobin pouted “I simply want to spend time with my friends, I'm just friendly you know” he continued, still doing his best to defend himself.

“Of course you are,” Yeonjun responded sarcastically, “but oh look there's the reason for your friendliness ” Yeonjun pointed at the door of one of the classrooms and there they saw Kai exiting the room followed by his students.

“Uncle,” Sora came running the moment he saw his uncle but from his excitement, he accidentally tripped.

Kai came rushing immediately carrying Sora to the bench near the entrance to tend to his wounds. 

“I’ll just get the first aid kit then I’ll clean his wound,” he informed Yeonjun before looking at Sora. “Wait for teacher, okay? I’ll make the ouchy go away” Kai smiled as he informed Sora before heading to the infirmary.

“My baby, are you okay?” Yeonjun asked worriedly as he sat beside his nephew, checking the wound on his knee. 

Sora was crying, and he hugged his uncle the moment he saw him. Kai came back quickly and began to tend Sora’s wounds. 

“It’s okay now Sora mr. first aid kit is already here and he will help the ouchy go away” Kai introduced the things he would use to clean Sora’s wound. As he began cleaning the wound, he talked to Sora about his favorite dinosaur to distract him from the pain of the disinfectant and to everyone’s surprise, it worked. Sora stopped crying and he began showing Kai his book full of dinosaurs and as he did that, Kai was able to clean and cover his wound at ease. Soobin’s heart was close to melting upon seeing the sight in front of him. 

“There you go, teacher’s done,” Kai informed Sora as he placed the band aid on his knee. 

“Teacher, it still hurts,” Sora was about to cry again when Kai suddenly kissed his knee and pretended to grab the imaginary pain and threw it away.

“There, teacher kissed the pain away and now it’s gone,” Kai smiled and Sora smiled back at him before walking to his uncle who was now standing next to Soobin.

Soobin watched the entire thing in awe and at the same time he felt this small pang in his chest. 

Was he really jealous with a child? What a silly thought. Soobin smiled as he laughed at himself internally.

“I heard that,” Yeonjun suddenly said, “I can’t believe you’re jealous of my nephew, he’s only 5” Yeonjun dramatically gasped and beside him, Soobin was surprised that he said those words out loud and he wanted the clouds to take him away to some far away land because how of all the people in the world, it was Yeonjun who heard what he said?

“Please pretend you did not hear what I said,” Soobin begged but the sly smile on Yeonjun’s face is the clear indicator that he has other plans.

“Soobin also hurt his lips,” Yeonjun suddenly announced, making everyone look at them. Soobin immediately tackled him to cover his mouth. 

Kai started to laugh until he realized what was the implication of Yeonjun’s statement, making him panic a little.

“I.. hyung don’t joke like that” Kai reprimanded Yeonjun before going back inside the infirmary to return the first aid kit he was holding.

“Hyung, you’re a blushing mess” Taehyun suddenly appeared beside Soobin, surprising him. 

“It’s because of Yeonjun hyung” Soobin complained, pointing his finger at Yeonjun. 

“Don’t blame me for your feelings, now excuse me I’ll be taking my sweet boy home” Yeonjun flipped his hair as he waved goodbye towards everyone before holding his nephew’s hand and heading towards the exit.

They all waved goodbye as well to the uncle-nephew duo and Soobin silently hoped Yeonjun’s remark won’t make things awkward for him and Kai.

“Taehyunnie,” Beomgyu whined and he sounded like a baby, “we still need to do some cleaning here, you can go home first if you want, I’ll just call you when I’m home” he smiled as he played with the sleeves of Taehyun’s sweater shyly. 

“We can help you guys clean,” Taehyun said as he dragged Soobin towards his side. 

“Even me?” Soobin looked shocked, pointing to himself.

“Just nod, you will thank me later hyung,” Taehyun hushed him so he would simply agree with his plan and Soobin nodded in confusion but decided to go along with it.

As they waited, Soobin figured out that Taehyun decided to stay a little more to help clean the place and he dragged Soobin with him because he noticed that Kai and Beomgyu were tasked to clean up the daycare center. 

While Beomgyu and Kai were gathering the cleaning materials, Taehyun pointed to the board where he had seen the role assignments for Soobin to see which earned a huge grin on Soobin’s face. 

He silently thanked the universe that Taehyung was a fast thinker because he was able to compensate for not seeing Kai earlier by spending more time with him even after their work was done.

Taehyung, the owner of the daycare center, noticed they were still lingering and told them they could go home as he didn't want to cause any inconvenience towards them but they said they were very much willing to help but they both knew it was to spend more time with the two teachers.

Taehyung let them stay as he laughed at them both to wait for the teachers as he had other duties to tend to.

Beomgyu came out of one of the rooms holding 2 brooms, 1 dustpan, and 2 feather dusters and it was evident he was struggling and Taehyun noticed it and helped him carry almost everything he was holding, leaving Beomgyu with 1 feather duster and a huge smile on his face. 

After Beomgyu, Kai followed carrying 4 huge containers that were clearly blocking his view and Soobin rushed to his side and took 2 of the containers he was holding, surprising him. 

“Hyung,” Kai exclaimed, “You're still here” he smiled at Soobin and he swore he would do everything to see that smile forever.

“Yes, let me help” Soobin offered as he continued to walk beside Kai. 

“But you might be busy” Kai pouted, looking apologetically at Soobin.

“I don't have much to do today. I finished work already so it's fine ” Soobin reassured him, he needed to finish a paper for one of his classes but of course he wouldn't say it because he prefers to spend more time with Kai. 

And that’s the story behind Soobin picking up small marbles in the garden right now. If somebody else made him do this, he would complain, but him picking up marbles being the reason to look at Kai arranging books then he would thank the universe wholeheartedly.

Now that he was done with the marbles, Soobin began sorting lego blocks, wooden beads, and jenga blocks at the corner of the toy area. As he stacked and sorted the toys, Kai stayed beside him, cleaning the same aisle, telling stories about their kids and Soobin felt grateful he didn’t feel awkward from Yeonjun’s joke earlier.

They shared small whispers as they tell each other about the events that occurred today while sorting the toys and educational materials and Soobin was smiling because he felt really comfortable spending peace and solace with Kai, far different from the noise on the other end of the room as Beomgu was busy roleplaying as a dinosaur to tease his boyfriend instead of piling the puppets properly. 

As the day ended, they all decided to go home and Kai informed them that he had to go to the bookstore to buy some materials for tomorrow’s arts and crafts activity. Soobin wanted to accompany him to spend more time with Kai but he didn’t want to seem clingy or anything so he decided to simply say goodbye and go in the same direction as Taehyun and Beomgyu.

He watched Kai walking away and when he crossed the street he looked back and waved at Soobin. 

“I'll hold unto that for now,” he told himself, hoping that someday, he wouldn't need any reason to spend time with Kai.

“Welcome to Moon cafe,” one of the workers near the door announced.

“Hey, what are you thinking?” Taehyun suddenly appeared in front of the counter where Soobin was standing idle, waiting for the next customer to order.

“Nothing,” Soobin brushed away the question as he positioned himself behind the counter to get Taehyun’s order. “May I take your order?” Soobin asked, smiling at his friend that was currently a customer. 

“I was hoping you were thinking of finally confessing to Kai,” Taehyun smiled slyly, wiggling his eyebrows to tease Soobin.

“Shut up, what do you want?” Soobin tried to sound that he was annoyed but he couldn’t stop the big smile appearing on his face with the thought of Kai, making it obvious for Taehyun that he was flustered from the question.

“Ah Joon hyung wanted some coffee,” Taehyun decided to stop teasing his friend and answered his question. “I’ll get one americano please, and one iced caramel macchiato for me” Taehyun finished his order as he handed Soobin his loyalty card.

“Oh great, send him some cakes too, Jin hyung was telling me to give him some if he buys coffee” Soobin informed him, packing a slice of cake for Taehyun to take with him.

“I do think you need to thank Jin hyung,” Taehyun suggested after receiving the take out box Soobin handed him.

“I thank him all the time for the kindness he has given me,” Soobin nodded, remembering how his Jin hyung has always been kind to him. 

“I mean, if it weren’t for him, you wouldn’t know Kai works at the daycare center.” Taehyun reminded him, gladly accepting his take out goods.

And of course Soobin remembered that day clearly.

“Soobinie,” Jin called, feeling ecstatic, “I have an errand for you my dear boy,” 

“What is it hyung?” Soobin stopped wiping the table immediately and went straight to where Jin was seated.

“Can you take this box of cake to the daycare center? Taehyung did something huge for me and I need to thank him,” Jin smiled at him as he handed him a small box of cake. 

“Sure hyung,” Soobin smiled back at him and followed immediately.

Walking outside was a fun errand for Soobin, he got to feel the breeze and enjoy the idle time of the city so it wasn’t really an errand for him, it was like a small break. Plus with the idea of him delivering cake to the daycare center, means he could also say hi to his roommate who happens to be the brother of the owner of the daycare center and who was also a teacher at the said daycare center. 

“Hello,” he greeted Taehyung who was waiting at the gate of the daycare center. 

“Hi, I’m sorry you had to go here right now. I told Jin hyung I’d go to the cafe instead but he insisted” Taehyung apologized as he accepted the box Soobin was handing him. 

“It’s okay hyung, I thought I needed to do some stretches since I’ve been standing behind the counter all day” Soobin reassured him that it was fine before glancing behind Taehyung to look for Beomgyu. 

“If you're looking for your roommate, he's probably fighting with one of his students right now,” Taehyung laughed, noticing that Soobin was looking for somebody. 

Before Soobin could answer, their conversation was interrupted when they heard a loud shout inside one of the classrooms followed by Beomgyu running around the garden with a kid on his back and two kids dangling on both of his legs.

“We will finally defeat the monster,” the kid dangling on Beomgyu's right leg shouted, as the kid on Beomgyu’s back laughed.

“Help me, this place is child-infested and they will take my powers away” Beomgyu’s voice echoed, making Soobin laugh.

“See, I told you,”  Taehyung smiled as he confirmed how chaotic Beomgyu was at work. “There’s your roommate,” Taehyung laughed before thanking Soobin again. He placed the cake on the desk for a while and went straight to where Beomgyu was being tackled down by the kids.

Taehyung took the kids holding Beomgyu captive and pointed at the direction where Soobin was.

“Why are you calling your workplace ‘child-infested’ , it's literally a school?” Soobin asked when Beomgyu went to him to say hello.

“Well, that’s what happens if you’re assigned to the bigger kids section” Beomgyu reasoned before smiling widely at his roommate. “Hey, this is the first time you visited me,” Beomgyu teased him a little.

“Well, technically I visited your brother,” Soobin let him down before pointing to the cake he brought for him. 

“But admit it, you were excited to see me at work” Beomgyu grinned at him while elbowing Soobin on the side.

“Not really, the kids were really chaotic with you” Soobin laughed as this was the first time he saw Beomgyu at work and Taehyun was right, he was chaotic.

“Beomgyu hyung,” A voice called from one of the rooms near the gate, making both Soobin and Beomgyu look at the direction of the sound. 

“I’m here,” Beomgyu answered and as he was about to excuse himself from Soobin, a beautiful figure went out from the room that Beomgyu was about to enter.

“Ah gray hoodie!!” Soobin shouted the moment he realized that the angel he met at the cafe a few days ago was standing in front of him and he looked just as shocked as Soobin was.

“Gray hoodie? The one you won’t stop talking about at home?” Beomgyu looked at Soobin then at his workmate, “Wait, is he the bunny you wouldn’t stop talking about too? The one you…” Beomgyu asked, this time looking at his workmate. “gave your jacket to,” Beomgyu whispered. “I can’t believe I didn’t realize it earlier,” Beomgyu kept on talking, continuing his monologue as Soobin and his angel stared at each other.

“Bunny,” the beautiful stranger whispered, eyes blown wide, still in disbelief.

Soobin was starstruck. He couldn’t believe he would meet this angel once again. 

“Hi,” was the only word Soobin was able to say because looking at his face up close was life changing. He was 100% sure he was smiling like an idiot.

His blonde hair, his dark brown eyes, his blinding smile. Soobin was sure he was an angel sent from above and now as he was standing in front of him, Soobin needed time to process the fact that he was real and a human and a teacher at a daycare center at that.  Could he get any cuter ? He thought to himself.

“Are you guys done staring at each other? Do you want me to introduce you to one another?” Beomgyu suddenly waves in their line of view, startling both of them. 

Soobin nodded eagerly, making the pretty stranger in front of him giggle and Soobin’s heart almost combusted from the sound of his laugh. 

“This is Soobin hyung, he’s my roommate,” Beomgyu started, “and this is Kai, he’s my co-teacher, kids call him Teacher Hyuka” Beomgyu introduced them as he eyed them both judgingly with how they were looking at each other.

“Kai,” Soobin repeated, “you have a cute name,” he blurted out unconsciously, making Kai blush. 

“Thank you,” Kai thanked him. He looked shy and adorable and Soobin wanted to scream. He couldn’t believe he got to meet him again. “You have a cute face,” Kai whispered, making Soobin blush this time. 

“Umm guys I’m still here,” Beomgyu suddenly announced, waving again at both of their faces, making them both flustered. 

“Oh uhm yeah I need to go now, it was nice meeting you, I’ll see you around?” Soobin said hurriedly and when Kai nodded, he ran out of the daycare center. 

“See you,” Kai said softly even though Soobin was far away already. 

And maybe that was the start of Soobin often visiting the daycare center.

“What time does your shift end?” Taehyun asked after Soobin handed him the coffee he ordered. 

“In 30 minutes why?” Soobin responded while he prepared the next order.

“Want to go to the daycare center with me again?” Taehyun invited him as he checked his watch. Probably thinking that he got enough time to deliver Namjoon's coffee and return just in time for Soobin's shift to end. 

“Why? Are you finally done being jealous?” Soobin joked fully aware that his friend was no longer jealous.

“Oh come on, anyone would think the same but don’t worry I am very understanding and I know now why you go there” Taehyun defended himself, his confidence with himself right now is far different from when he was jealous. 

“You’re understanding now because you are finally dating Beomgyu, imagine if that was not the case. You would still be jealous of me visiting the daycare center” Soobin pushed a little, fully knowing he was allowed to tease this much. 

“If people did not know you have a crush on Kai, they would think that you were there for Beomgyu so see, my jealousy was valid but as I said earlier, I am an understanding man, so stop teasing me about it already.” Taehyun nodded, feeling proud that he was currently a very understanding boyfriend. 

“Really? That’s not what you said before, I clearly remember how you were about to cry because I visited the daycare center often.” Soobin went close to him after finishing the last order he prepared to remind Taehyun about that incident. 

“Okay fine, can you blame me? How does it make sense that you go to my boyfriend's workplace everyday for the most absurd reasons” Taehyun frowned a little before smirking at Soobin and reminding him how crazy his strategies on getting closer to Kai were. 

“I don’t think they're absurd” Soobin pouted, feeling insulted that his tactics were called absurd.

“Really Soobin hyung? Do you want me to remind you about the pencil incident?” Taehyun’s voice was laced with judgment and Soobin began to laugh. Of course everybody remembered the pencil incident.

The pencil incident happened a week after Soobin found out that Kai works at the daycare center. 

After realizing that the angel he met and his roommate were workmates, Soobin took the opportunity to “visit” his roommate whenever there was an opportunity.

He tried hard everyday to think of an excuse to go to the daycare center and whenever he saw an opportunity, even in a tiny bit of it, he would grab it.

And the first opportunity he got was what Taehyun and Yeonjun calle the pencil incident .

On that day, Soobin was cleaning up their living room before heading to the cafe for his shift.

As he was sweeping the floor, he saw a pencil laying on the ground and he knew it was Beomgyu’s so he did the first thing he thought. 

Go to the daycare center to return it to his friend because you know, he’s a teacher and a teacher couldn’t teach without their pencil.

“Why are you here again?” Beomgyu was surprised when he saw Soobin waving at him at the school gate. “You rarely visited me and this is like the 2nd time I’ve seen you in a week” he continued, side-eyeing Soobin. 

“Um, you left your pencil at home” Soobin gladly handed him the pencil, feeling accomplished that he did something good for his friend.

“This is a school? We have pencils here?” Beomgyu informed Soobin before rolling his eyes.

“I forgot about that” Soobin’s face turned red from embarrassment, “but don’t you want to see your precious roommate before your work starts?” he decided to say, flashing Beomgyu his smile that he knew nobody could resist. 

“Hyung, I see you everyday? We are literally roommates” Beomgyu deadpans, as he shooed Soobin using his hands. 

Soobin was about to say something when he heard Kai’s voice as he greeted the kids at the entrance. 

“Good morning Kai-ssi” Soobin greeted enthusiastically.

“Good morning Soobin-ssi, Good morning Beomgyu hyung” Kai responded immediately, smiling at the two of them.

“Hi Kai,” Beomgyu greeted back before looking at Soobin suspiciously.

“Okay, I’m gonna go to work now,” He informed Beomgyu after Kai entered his classroom before skipping away happily, leaving Beomgyu completely confused with his actions.

At that time, Soobin couldn’t understand but after Kai greeted him, his day felt complete.

To be honest, Soobin couldn’t even point out why he wanted to see Kai again, but after realizing his feelings, he guessed he was just being in denial. Seeing Kai was like taking a break from life's hectic traffic. Seeing Kai was like taking a breath of fresh air. 

“Hey the pencil incident was completely valid” Soobin pouted, thinking of ways on how he would defend himself. 

“How so?” Taehyun challenged him. 

“Beomgyu is a teacher, I was only concerned about him being unable to teach his students because he didn’t have a pencil” Soobin responded with confidence because he was sure he made a good point. 

“They have pencils there,” Taehyun informed him and Soobin wanted to laugh because why is he so in sync with his boyfriend? 

“I know, Beomgyu told me as well” Soobin whined, “But my concern is still valid.” he insisted, refusing to be defeated. 

“Sure, fine, but how could you explain the wrong pair of socks incident?” Taehyun continued and Soobin was scared with how many excuses that he made to go to the daycare center did Taehyun remember. 

“Um, that one,” Soobin felt sheepish, recalling the wrong pair of socks incident because that was just a stretch on his end.

It was his day off that day and Soobin was busy sorting the laundry when he noticed something. 

There was a lone sock inside their washing machine. 

Soobin panicked, realizing that it must have been Beomgyu’s sock and that he must be wearing different socks today. 

He grabbed his hoodie immediately and went straight to the daycare center. 

“Beomgyu,” he called once he arrived. At that time, Beomgyu and some of the kids and teachers were in the garden doing exercises. 

Beomgyu rushed to approach him thinking there was an emergency based on the disheveled look on Soobin.

“What? Are you okay?” Beomgyu asked, feeling concerned. 

“I think you’re wearing different pairs of socks” Soobin informed him, showing him the sock he was hiding inside his pocket.

“What?” Beomgyu sounded baffled this time. 

“Your socks, are you wearing the same pair? Or are you even wearing two socks? Are you only wearing one sock right now?” Soobin kept on asking, trying to check Beomgyu's feet which was difficult because he was wearing shoes. 

“Hyung, are you okay?” Beomgyu looked confused and concerned at the same time.

“Your socks?” Soobin whispered, feeling confused himself from his own actions

Beomgyu had to remove his shoes and show Soobin that he was wearing the right pair of socks.

“Oh, umm…” Soobin was lost for words for how crazy he must have looked in front of everyone. 

“Go, explain yourself, what would be your excuse this time hyung” Beomgyu interrogated him and Soobin was thinking hard on how he would defend himself.

“Beomgyu hyung, maybe Soobin-ssi was just concerned about you,” Kai interjected, smiling warmly at Soobin.

“Don’t defend him, it might encourage him to disturb us again” Beomgyu stopped Kai from talking immediately. 

“I don’t mind seeing Soobin-ssi all the time” Kai admitted and if Soobin wasn’t mistaken, there was a small hint of blush on his cheeks.

“Hyung, you can call me hyung” Soobin uttered suddenly, the thought of Kai not being bothered by his antics made him extremely happy.

“Okay,” Kai giggled, “I don’t mind seeing Soobin hyung all the time” he repeated and Soobin wanted to squeal so bad.

“You are encouraging him so badly,” Beomgyu complained, making Kai laugh, and his laughter made Soobin smile. 

Kai's laugh made all the embarrassment worth it.

The two of them went on their way to the daycare center after Taehyun delivered the coffee and cake to the library. 

As they began walking, Taehyun decided to continue their earlier conversation as he was insistent to prove that Soobin was crazy and very much head over heels for Kai. Soobin wanted to deflect that topic as the thought of Kai was making him extremely flustered but Taehyun was very persistent in bugging Soobin about his crazy antics as they walked towards the daycare center.

“Why do you guys even keep tabs about the things I did?” Soobin complained as he glared at Taehyun who was still thinking about more antics Soobin did. 

“Because they were crazy hyung” Taehyun explained himself, emphasizing on the word ‘crazy’ to state his point.

“They’re not all that crazy,” Soobin defended himself once again, avoiding Taehyun's gaze. 

“Hyung, don’t get me started with that incident” Taehyun stopped walking to get Soobin’s attention. 

“What’s that?” Soobin challenged him as he stopped on his tracks as well to look at Taehyun. 

“The bag swapping incident” Taehyun mumbled, his frown and pout growing bigger and bigger. 

“You still haven’t forgotten that?” Soobin gasped, but he was not entirely surprised as he was sure Taehyun had every reason not to forget that moment. 

“How could I forget about the bag swapping incident?” Taehyun sounded bitter recalling that incident.

“Okay valid, no one could forget that, you even cried because of that” Soobin teased a little as he elbowed Taehyun a little. 

“I did not,” Taehyun denied Soobin’s statement, making Soobin laugh. 

“Taehyun, I remember it clearly, you were so scared and jealous that you ended up confessing your feelings when we parted ways” Soobin recalled the sequence of what happened that day detailed by detail to make Taehyun remember.

“Beomgyu,” Soobin shouted, waving at the entrance of the daycare center. 

“Hyung, why are you here this time?” Beomgyu sounded annoyed but Soobin knew he wasn’t really mad. 

“We swapped bags,” Soobin informed him, handing Beomgyu the bag he was holding. 

“No we didn’t” Beomgyu answered nonchalantly knowing this was another antic from Soobin. It has been a while since he figured out that Soobin was doing all of these to get a glimpse of Kai and Beomgyu simply wished his hyung would confess already. 

“Yes we did, see this is your bag” Soobin lifted the bag he was carrying and waved it at Beomgyu’s face. It was a black dumpling bag and the moment Beomgyu saw it, he rolled his eyes. 

“That’s your bag,” Beomgyu was firm, “My bag has a squirrel keychain and I don’t use it at work, I carry a backpack” Beomgyu explained the details for Soobin to realize his mistakes. 

“Are you sure?” Soobin clarified just in case. 

“This is what I was saying when you gave me the same bag that looks exactly the same as yours.” Beomgyu complained, recalling the time he clearly told Soobin this would happen when he gave him the bag. 

“Why are you mad that I gifted you a bag that’s the same as mine?” Soobin raised an eyebrow, feeling offended, as he questioned Beomgyu and his feelings towards his gift.

“I’m not mad but I just knew this would happen” Beomgyu answered straight away, trying to shoo Soobin away.

“You gifted him the same bag?” Taehyun suddenly appeared behind Soobin and he sounded mad.

“Ah yes, I thought it would be cute if we had a matching bag” Soobin smiled, nodding to himself, completely unaware of the chaos he had caused in Taehyun's heart.

“Soobin hyung,” Beomgyu whisper-shouted as he glared at Soobin.

“What? I’m just telling Taehyun how cute our bags are because we’re matching, bet some people thought we are a couple whenever we use it at the same time” Soobin jabbed Beomgyu’s side, giving him a teasing look. 

“Shh, quiet” Beomgyu instructed Soobin, shushing him before looking at Taehyun and grabbing the sleeve of Taehyun's sweater,  “Let’s talk later okay?” Beomgyu asked Taehyun and after he nodded, Beomgyu hurried inside the classroom where he was supposed to be in.

“Hyung,” Taehyun called, he sounded serious, “Why are you really here?” he asked sternly.

“I really thought we swapped bags.” Soobin answered innocently. It was an honest mistake on his end. Really it was. 

“Soobin hyung, I’m so close to thinking that you’re here to see Beomgyu because..” Taehyun whispered after grabbing Soobin to the side, away from people who might hear their conversation. He couldn’t continue what he was about to say as tears started to form in his eyes. 

“Why? Are you jealous? What will you do if that’s the case?” Soobin teased a little and was surprised when he saw Taehyun’s eyes getting more and more teary. 

“Hey, are you crying?” Soobin panicked as he made Taehyun look at him. 

“I’m not,” Taehyun denied, “I just.. you just have more chances with Beomgyu than me okay, and if you like him…” Taehyun looked away immediately but Soobin could see his lips quivering.

“Hey, I was joking, I’m sorry for teasing you like that Taehyun, please don’t cry,” Soobin comforted his friend immediately. “Do you want me to be honest? I go here to see Kai” Soobin admitted when he didn’t see Beomgyu and Kai around. As much as he wanted to keep his feelings secret, he couldn’t take seeing his friend cry.

“Really???? So you don’t like Beomgyu?” Taehyun asked and Soobin could clearly hear the shift from his voice.

“Of course not, he's like my brother. If you would be jealous like that, why don’t you just tell him how you feel?” Soobin scrunched his face in disgust from Taehyun’s statement as he slightly scolded him, hoping that his friends would finally get their shit together and just confess. 

“Wait, how did you know I like Beomgyu?” Taehyun sounded surprised that Soobin knew even though he wasn’t really being subtle with how much he cared for Beomgyu. 

“You’re not really good at hiding your feelings, you know,” Soobin smirked at Taehyun, feeling happy that he stopped crying. 

“Why? Do you think you were being subtle?” Taehyun asked him, tone full of judgment.

“You were jealous like a minute ago?” Soobin asked judgingly, the weight he felt from guilt finally lifted. 

“Well, my judgment was clouded and my entire attention was on Beomgyu” Taehyun responded, the heavy and sad tone from his voice finally gone. “I knew long ago that you liked Kai but there was no clear confirmation about it okay?” Taehyun sounded confident and Soobin wanted to laugh at the contrast from his previous demeanor.

“Ah gotchu boys,” Taehyung suddenly appeared, startling the two of them. “Can you guys just confess already? I just want all of you to get it together because I'm dying watching you all pining from my office” Taehyung reprimanded them a little but his statement surprised the two of them.

Taehyun and Soobin looked at him with their eyes huge from surprise. They both didn't expect anyone to be eavesdropping at their conversation.

“Hyung, how long have you known?” Taehyun asked, his cheeks growing redder and redder, probably from the embarrassment that the brother of the person he likes just caught him expressing his feelings. 

“Taehyun my dear boy, you’re not really subtle, I've known from the start” Taehyung stated, smiling widely at him, making Soobin laugh at his statement. “Don't laugh Soobin, you're even worse. Taehyun here wasn't subtle but he’s not dense, but you?” Taehyung smiled as he gently patted Soobin’s shoulder. 

“Me?” Soobin questioned, he looked completely confused. 

“Just tell him,” Taehyung sighed, before giving them both a pat on the shoulder. “Both of you just do it” he said lastly before moving one step backward. 

With his words of encouragement, Taehyun looked determined while Soobin looked so lost.

“Also, if you want to visit here to see them, you could do that, you know. Stop making up excuses” Taehyung winked at them as he made his way back to his office.

“Really hyung?” Soobin was ecstatic that he was given a go signal from the direct owner of the daycare center.

“I knew you had an agenda,” Taehyung laughed before facing them again. “You could visit before classes start or at the end of the day, just don’t disturb them too much while they're working” Taehyung instructed, giving them both thumbs up “those two gets chaotic whenever you guys visit, it feels like they’re trying to get your attention or something” Taehyung continued as he turned around, looking at them and nodding to himself. 

Soobin felt clueless at what his Taehyung hyung was implying earlier but that was the green light he needed for him to go to the daycare center almost everyday with no reasons needed.

“Admit it, I’m the reason why you confessed” Soobin sounding like a proud dad.

“No,” Taehyun ignored him even though he was really grateful for Soobin because if not for him, he won’t have the courage to confess his feelings to his boyfriend. “It was Taehyung hyung's encouragement that pushed me, not your crazy antics” Taehyun was half bluffing but he really needed to thank both Soobin and Taehyung for giving him the courage to confess to his now boyfriend. 

“You should thank me really, if I didn’t scare you, you and Beomgyu would still not be together” Soobin insisted, feeling proud that he was the reason why Taehyun and Beomgyu are now inseparable. 

“Okay thank you, but really hyung, you should do something about your feelings with Kai,” Taehyun gave the advice with firmness in his tone and it made Soobin think.

Was he really allowed to confess his feelings? What if it complicates things? What if his confession and feelings would make things awkward? Would that make Kai no longer want to see him? What if he loses Kai because of his feelings?

Soobin was deep in thought, his fears resurfacing after Taehyun’s remark. His thoughts kept on repeating on and on until Taehyun noticed. 

“Hyung, stop overthinking things,” Taehyun comforted him before distracting him, “Speaking of, you keep on going to the daycare center to see Kai, do you want to trade roommates?” Taehyun suddenly suggested as they were nearing the daycare center. 

“You literally invited me?” Soobin squinted his eyes out of judgment towards Taehyun’s remark, his fears earlier slowly fading away. 

“Just a question hyung, I kinda want to live with Beomgyu” Soobin saw the softness in his expression and he wanted to agree but the thought of Kai rejecting the idea made him sad. 

“Yeah you guys would want that and of course I kinda want it too but we don’t know if Kai would agree” Soobin pouted as he started to imagine the different ways Kai could reject the idea. 

“Stop pouting hyung, I know he would agree” Taehyun reassured him, giving his shoulder a firm squeeze. 

“How do you know he would agree?” Soobin asked, as he already accepted the fact that Kai wouldn’t agree to anything related to Soobin (yes he knows he’s being paranoid but still the chances of Kai not wanting to spend time with him is never zero) 

“I just know,” Taehyun smiled as if he was hiding something and Soobin eyed him suspiciously before releasing a defeated sigh. “We’re roommates, remember? We practically grew up together” Taehyun continued but Soobin’s fear refused to leave his mind.

“What are you thinking?” Taehyun asked when he noticed Soobin’s silence. 

“Kai,” Soobin pouted, feeling terrified from his growing feelings.

“I mean I know that, but do you want to discuss the specific details of your thoughts?” Taehyun probed and Soobin appreciated his concern.

“Well, you know I really like Kai right?” Soobin started, taking his time putting words into his thoughts.

“Yeah, everyone knew that,” Taehyung responded confidently.

“Some days it just feels like my feelings would explode. I’m scared that I like him too much and everyday my feelings just keep on growing.” Soobin continued, ignoring the thought that everyone knew how he felt for Kai.

“Why don’t you just confess?” Taehyun encouraged him once again, probably returning the favor and encouragement Soobin gave him when he confessed. 

“I don’t know,” He sighed once again as he felt helpless. 

“What do you mean you don’t know?” Taehyun sounded like he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

“I don’t want things to get awkward like there’s a chance he doesn’t like me back, if I confess then I might not be able to see him anymore.” Soobin admitted, his voice was a little shaky as this was the first time he was verbalizing his thoughts.

“Are you blind? Do I have to remind you about the multiple times Kai couldn’t even stop smiling whenever you’re near” Taehyun rambled to lift Soobin up.

“Okay, that’s just a stretch Taehyun, that’s crazy, Kai is always smiling” Soobin was having a hard time believing him. It was just impossible.

“Of course he always smiles at you. That boy couldn’t stop smiling whenever you’re near. How many times do I have to repeat this?” Taehyun retaliated, he was very firm and sure with his statement.

“I really don’t know what you’re talking about” Soobin whispered, he sounded like a sad puppy.

“Okay, that one time you brought coffee and Kai was doing his best to hold himself back but Yeonjun hyung caught him touching your face? Don’t tell me that was nothing.” Taehyun tried to convince him once again and Soobin blushed with the memory.

“Hello everyone, I brought coffee,” Soobin announced the moment he saw Beomgyu and Kai at the front entrance of the daycare center.

“I know your hidden agenda but I would gladly accept the coffee because I need it badly,” Beomgyu took the coffee as fast as he could before going back to the classroom where the kids were gathered to practice their performance. 

Soobin handed the coffee to the other teachers and the tea to Taehyung and lastly he approached Kai who was immersed in what he was doing at the corner of the stage set up they had built.

“Have a small break?” Soobin asked gently as he tapped Kai’s shoulder before handing him the coffee he was holding.

“Hyung,” Kai’s expression suddenly lit up. He removed his earphones to properly greet and thank Soobin for the coffee. “Thank you so much for this,” he smiled shyly before taking a sip. 

“Anything for you,” Soobin replied, eyes growing wide when he realized what he said. “Ah, I mean, you know I was just being a concerned roommate for Beomgyu and I decided to might as well give everyone a coffee, that's all” Soobin continued to explain himself, making Kai giggle. 

He was about to continue his rambling when Kai reached for his hair, making him freeze. 

“A leaf fell on your hair hyung,” Kai’s touch lingered on his hair before he showed Soobin the piece of leaf he caught.

“Oh I think there's one more,” Kai whispered before reaching for Soobin's hair, ruffling it a bit and slowly Soobin felt his finger graze his cheek. The touch remained on his cheek for a little while until Kai pulled his hand back.

“I suddenly gained enough energy to finish this day. Thanks Soobin hyung” Kai thanked him once again and Soobin noticed that there was a small blush on his cheeks. He looked pretty. Kai was about to move closer when they were startled by another presence in the area.

“Hey,” Yeonjun suddenly appeared, announcing his arrival for everyone to hear before making his way towards where Kai and Soobin were standing.

“Soobin hyung, thank you for the coffee, I needed that” Kai blurted out almost quickly and moved two steps back the moment he saw Yeonjun looking at them suspiciously, before approaching them. 

“I see that the two of you are brave this fine morning,” Yeonjun teased the moment he reached the location where Soobin and Kai were standing. 

Kai clearly blushed, the red tint on his cheek deepening and Soobin panicked, getting a tiny glimpse of hope that he was the reason for the blush on his cheeks, but killing the thought immediately because …. well he wasn't sure, he just didn't want to hope. 

“Wow the energy here is intense” Yeonjun announced, looking at Soobin and Kai suspiciously. 

“Hmm?”

“Huh?”

They both asked in unison, making Yeonjun laugh. 

“You guys are so obvious,” Yeonjun continued before waving goodbye when his nephew suddenly appeared, leaving Soobin and Kai alone once again. 

They ended up staring at each other and Soobin had to gather enough strength to pull his gaze away from Kai and he was thankful that Taehyun suddenly showed up.

“Kai, is Beomgyu here?” Taehyun asked as he looked around, completely unaware of what was happening before he arrived. 

“We have to practice or the lava monster will eat you,” Beomgyu's voice was suddenly heard from the first room on their left followed by kids shouting and screaming and one by one escaping the room where they were supposed to practice.

“There's the answer to your question,” Kai smiled “I got to go, your boyfriend is causing chaos again Taehyun” Kai informed Taehyun, before looking at Soobin and waving at him in a small manner and Soobin almost squealed. 

“Yeah, I won't disturb him first” Taehyun giggled before tangling his arms with Soobin as he dragged him away. Taehyun was busy talking as Soobin was blushing beside him, the feeling of Kai's fingers on his cheeks still lingering and he silently hoped Taehyun wouldn't notice. 

Fun fact: Taehyun noticed. After the event ended, he began teasing Soobin.

“Why are you blind when it was clear to me and Yeonjun hyung how he was looking at you?” Taehyun sounded frustrated trying to state his point.  

“You guys talked about us?” Soobin gasped as he eyed him suspiciously.

“I mean how could we not when you’re both so dumb,” Taehyun sighed before looking at Soobin seriously “But don’t change the subject hyung, Kai was very obvious,” Taehyun stated as if it was something plain to see. Soobin really found it hard to believe. It was just impossible for Kai to like him.

“Maybe he was just thankful” Soobin reasoned, he was pretty sure that whatever positive feelings Kai had towards him was purely out of the kindness of his spirit.

“Maybe he was just thankful” Taehyun began mocking him and Soobin slapped him in the arm to stop him.

“Or maybe he simply likes you" another voice came out of nowhere and when they looked behind them they saw Yoongi waving at them.

“Yoongi hyung,” Taehyun greeted him happily before bowing, Soobin following after.

“Hey, are you here to visit your boyfriends too?” Yoongi asked, waving at the two of them.

Taehyun nodded immediately, probably doing his best to earn good points since Yoongi is the boyfriend of Beomgyu’s brother making them technically “brothers-in-laws”

“I don’t have a boyfriend here hyung,” Soobin defended himself, making Yoongi look at him with a puzzled look. 

“Kai isn’t your boyfriend?” Yoongi asked, looking extremely confused from Soobin’s statement. 

“No,” Soobin shook his head immediately, panicking from the inside and at the same time feeling butterflies in his stomach with the thought of Kai being his “boyfriend ”

“Really?” Yoongi asked again, clearly not believing Soobin. 

Soobin nodded slowly, trying to convince Yoongi.

“Are you sure?” Yoongi asked again for clarification purposes.

Soobin sighed before whispering a weak “yes” 

“But do you like him?” Yoongi asked a different question, probably to confirm his suspicions. 

“I… am I that obvious hyung?” Soobin flinched a little. 

“Well, I thought you guys were together so yeah you were pretty obvious” Yoongi stated casually as he nodded to himself, probably thinking about the times he saw Soobin and Kai together.

“See I told you, there’s no harm in confessing hyung” Taehyun interjected, stating his point from their conversation earlier. 

“You know, you can confess now. Don’t be like me. It took me years to tell Taehyung that I love him and I fell for him from the moment I first saw him.” Yoongi advised, smiling gently at Soobin. 

“Hyung,” Taehyung shouted from inside the daycare center, the moment he saw Yoongi outside, waving at him like a little kid and Yoongi felt so endeared.

“Okay, I'll talk to you later guys, Taehyung is calling me” Yoongi waved goodbye before approaching his boyfriend. 

Soobin watched them interact and he felt this pang to his chest when he saw them hug. 

He wanted that with Kai, he thought to himself. 

“Taehyun” they both heard Beomgyu called as well and he was about to head towards the gate as he waved using both his hands and Taehyun excused himself to make his way towards his boyfriend to give him a hug and with that Soobin was left alone at the gate of the daycare center. 

“Why are there so many happy couples here?” Soobin sighed loudly. 

“I mean you could be one of them if you finally make a move you know” Yeonjun suggested, surprising Soobin from his sudden appearance. 

“Why do you always appear out of nowhere?” Soobin squinted his eyes, looking directly at Yeonjun. 

“Stop changing the topic and just go confess to him,” Yeonjun responded as he removed his shades.

“I don't know what you're talking about hyung,” Soobin lied, of course he knew what Yeonjun was talking about.

“Soobin, if you think you can fool anyone, then you're wrong” Yeonjun patted his shoulder to give him comfort, probably noticing the sadness in the tone of his voice.

“Wow, I’m really that obvious huh,” Soobin sighed as he mumbled to himself

“Yes my dear boy, you are not being subtle. You’re not really hiding it well.” Yeonjun confirmed, partly teasing to ease Soobin's nerves and partly stating facts. “So when will you stop this pining? I’m tired of watching you guys flirt like I wanna see you kiss” Yeonjun wiggled both of his eyebrows to show his eagerness when he noticed Soobin was blushing and the sadness from his eyes were no longer there.

“I- hyung don’t say that, I..” Soobin turned even more red from his statement but as he thought of the possibilities, he started to think that it was completely impossible that Kai would like him back. “I don’t know,” Soobin admitted “I’m just scared that he won’t like me like that and I would ruin everything we have right now because of my stupid feelings” Soobin pouted as he vented his fears to Yeonjun. 

“Sometimes fear clouds our judgment my dear boy. Stop overthinking things and just go with the flow” Yeonjun patted his shoulder one more time as he offered a warm smile before saying goodbye and picking up his nephew and they both headed out to go home.

As he was left alone he started to think once again of the negative thoughts that had been bothering him but the moment he heard the voice he anticipated to hear everyday, the thoughts disappeared.

“Soobin hyung” it was Kai. He was waving at him and going his way.  

Seeing his smile really completed Soobin’s day.

And as much as he was scared to admit it, Kai's presence pushed the negative thoughts away.

It has been three weeks since almost everyone convinced him to confess his feelings but Soobin still couldn't find enough courage to do so. 

For the past few days, Taehyun would fetch him from the coffee shop so they could go to the daycare center and go home together with Beomgyu and Kai. He was also subtly giving Soobin small nudges to confess but it was just so difficult. 

“Hi guys, sorry we kept you waiting,” Kai's voice pulled him out of his thoughts, making him smile widely at his presence.

“It's fine, we didn't wait long” Soobin reassured him as the four of them made their way out of the daycare center. 

Soobin could feel the teasing glances from their friends but he chose to ignore it, giving his full attention to Kai who was telling him about his day as they walked out the daycare center. 

“Guys, I’m hungry, can we eat?” Beomgyu pleaded as they were nearing the intersection near their apartments. He clutched his stomach, doing his best to look pitiful and of course Taehyun agreed as he was whipped for his boyfriend so they all decided to eat at the fast food chain near their apartments. 

Soobin and Taehyun ordered their meals as Kai and Beomgyu looked for a spot where they could sit down. While they were ordering, Taehyun was busy encouraging Soobin but he was still defeated by the negative thoughts living inside his own brain. 

When they arrived at their table, Taehyun sat down beside Beomgyu immediately, thus, Soobin had no choice but to sit down next to Kai, not that he didn't like it but because he felt like his heart would burst being close to him (yes he knew he was being dramatic but he couldn't help it) 

“Hyung, move here,” Kai giggled as he pulled Soobin closer to him when he noticed that Soobin was almost sitting at the edge of the seat. His heart beat even faster upon feeling Kai's hand on his elbow. 

“Wow, this looks like we are having a double date,” Beomgyu suddenly muttered as he chewed on his burger, making Kai and Soobin choke on their food. He continued eating, completely unaware of the effect of his statement on Soobin. 

Soobin let out a nervous laugh before taking a glimpse of Kai’s reaction and was surprised to see that he was looking back at him.

“What?” Soobin asked, still panicking at Beomgyu’s statement and feeling nervous at the same time about how Kai would perceive their friend's remark.

“What?” Kai whispered, blinking his eyes repeatedly.

“What?” Soobin repeated, trying to stop himself from smiling.

“Nothing,” Kai looked away but Soobin could see his cheeks getting pink. He was busy calming his heart that he didn’t notice the suspicious glance Beomgyu and Taehyun were giving them.

They continued to eat after that. Beomgyu was telling them about a crazy story about one of his students but Soobin couldn’t focus, feeling distracted by Kai's warmth beside him. 

He looked at his hand that was situated on his lap and beside it was Kai’s hand that was also on his own lap.

Their pinkies brushed and it felt like an electric shock. He wanted to hold Kai’s hand so badly but stopped himself. He had to stop the urge to hold his hand because he didn’t want to startle Kai but he was so tempted to do so.

“Soobin hyung? Are you listening to my gentle pleas?” Taehyun’s voice pulled him out of his thoughts.

“Sorry, what was that?” Soobin shook his head as he tried his best to stop the distracting thoughts on his mind such as wanting to hold Kai’s hand.

“Can we exchange roommates for today? Please, Soobin hyung?” Taehyun pleaded again and Soobin felt cornered. Of course he wanted to spend time with Kai but he was nervous. What if he didn't agree? 

“Please hyung?” Beomgyu joined and the boyfriends were pleading very hard.

“It’s fine with me if it’s fine with hyung,” Kai suddenly said, making Soobin look at him. He contemplated a little and glanced again at Kai and when he was already looking at him and giving him the gentlest smile, Soobin sighed and nodded, finally agreeing with everyone.

“It’s fine with me as long as Kai is fine with it too” Soobin looked at his lap, scared that if he looked up, everyone would notice the blush on his cheeks.

Beomgyu and Taehyun cheered as they began scrolling on Taehyun’s phone to plan what movies they would watch tonight while Soobin was on the verge of exploding.

After that conversation, Soobin struggled finishing his food. He felt like his heart wanted to escape his chest. He was nervous, he felt like vomiting and he didn't know if his heart could handle what was about to come.

“Let's go” Beomgyu announced, mouth still stuffed with food and all could see how excited he was just from the thought that he could have an extended time to spend with his boyfriend.

“Can we pass by our apartment first hyung? So I could get some things?” Kai asked Soobin as they stepped out of the fast food chain.

“Sure” Soobin smiled at him when the thought of “ you could borrow my clothes ” passed through his mind but he decided to push the thoughts away.

“Beomgyu, aren’t you going to get your things?” Soobin asked when he noticed Beomgyu was already on the way towards Taehyun and Kai’s apartment. 

“I already prepared it” Beomgyu proudly announced as he lifted his duffle bag. 

“So you planned this all along” Soobin was surprised with the slight betrayal (and a blessing his heart couldn’t take) that the couple planned.

Taehyun and Beomgyu smiled slyly as they held hands while Kai giggled beside Soobin.

They went to Kai and Taehyun’s apartment first so that Kai could get some clothes and Soobin felt like his heart was about to burst. He doesn’t know when the feeling will subside but he was feeling all sorts of emotions right now. From nervousness to excitement to joy to giddiness. 

When they entered the apartment, Beomgyu and Taehyun rushed towards the couch and cuddled, completely ignoring Soobin and Kai. They automatically cuddled on the sofa as they looked at something on Taehyun's phone, meanwhile Soobin didn't know what he should do next. Kai, on the other hand, made his way towards his room as Soobin remained standing at the side of the front door when Kai noticed him frozen on the spot and returned for him.

“Hyung, can you help me fix my things?” Kai requested, pulling the sleeves of Soobin's shirt, and Soobin nodded to avoid watching the couple on the couch before following Kai inside his bedroom. 

They entered the room quietly and when the door shut, Soobin realized what was happening and began to panic. He doesn’t know how he should act being in close proximity with Kai. He wanted to scream because not only would they be together while Kai was packing his things, they would spend the entire evening in Soobin and Beomgyu’s apartment. Alone. With nobody else with them. 

“Calm down heart,” Soobin reminded himself when he heard Kai call for him. 

“Soobin hyung,” his angelic voice called, completely distracting Soobin from his own thoughts. “Sorry if my room is a mess, you can sit down on my bed first” Kai nervously laughed as he was peeking from the opening of his cabinet.

Soobin followed immediately but his mind began panicking once again once he realized he was sitting on Kai’s bed. He was about to stand up when Kai placed some of his things beside him before pulling his duffle bag from under the bed.

“I hope I won’t interrupt your evening hyung,” Kai whispered as he was avoiding Soobin’s gaze. His hands were busy fidgeting his bag and Soobin could feel his nervousness. 

“Hey, you’re not interrupting anything, I would love to spend time with you and it’s nice to see your room, it looks so cozy” Soobin blurted out and Kai’s mood immediately shifted. He began humming as he packed his things and Soobin wanted to squish his cheeks from how adorable he looked. 

As Kai continued humming and packing his things, Soobin took a deep breath and looked around Kai’s room, feeling honored that he was allowed to look at his private space. 

Kai’s room was very much him . It was soft and gentle just like him. The walls were painted yellow with little posters of some of the anime he likes and Soobin couldn’t help but coo at plushies on his bed.

“Hyung, can you pass me that pouch?” Kai requested as he was busy folding the clothes he would bring and Soobin handed the pouch to him immediately. Their fingers brushed each other and Soobin's heart stopped beating. If there was anyone watching him that moment, he was sure they would notice how Soobin froze. It took a whole minute for Soobin to come back to his senses. Their fingers only brushed, imagine how much he would malfunction if they held hands or lay side by side or something. Not that he was imagining that to happen.

Well, Soobin was just thankful that he and Beomgyu didn't share a room or else he would die.

“Let’s go, hyung?” Kai suddenly spoke, startling Soobin.

“Okay,” He nodded as he stood up from where he was seated. 

As they were headed out, they noticed that the couple wasn’t seated on the couch anymore but rather Beomgyu was laying on top of Taehyun as they continued to watch something on his phone.

Kai and Soobin grunted at the same time in slight annoyance seeing their friends’ affection to this extent making them laugh with their in unison reaction. 

“Why are you laughing?” Taehyun eyed them from his position. 

“Nothing,” they both answered at the same time. They looked at each other immediately before laughing once again.

“That’s so gay,” Beomgyu suddenly commented and Soobin saw the panic in Kai's eyes.

“Bye guys,” Kai changed the topic as fast as he could. “Please behave and don’t do anything that would destroy our apartment” Kai begged as he approached the door and Beomgyu and Taehyun got up from the couch, nodding like two overly excited puppies. 

Soobin helped Kai carry his things on their way to his and Beomgyu's apartment. Kai was thankful for his help even though he claimed that he could carry his things but Soobin insisted. 

They walked side-by-side and Soobin was doing his best to hide that he was nervous as hell. 

How would he handle his emotions if he would be stuck in one space with Kai?

Heading towards his and Beomgyu's shared apartment was nerve-wracking. Soobin could feel that at any given moment, somebody needs to call the ambulance because his heart would stop functioning any moment now. 

“Are you okay hyung?” Kai asked, he probably noticed how Soobin was overthinking again. 

“Yes, perfect. I'm perfectly fine” Soobin nervously muttered, but when Kai smiled at his response, he couldn't help but mirror his smile back.

After that, the way towards their apartment went by smoothly. They kept on talking and joking until they finally reached the doorstep. 

Far from his fears, spending time with Kai was fun and he couldn’t stop laughing and giggling and smiling. Of course he was still nervous, but being alone with Kai actually made him extremely happy.

“Wow, your place is huge hyung” Kai was amused, looking around with his big expressive eyes, once they entered the apartment and Soobin felt proud because he made sure to keep their place in check. 

“Feel at home Kai, think of this as your own place.” Soobin welcomed him and Kai followed him around the house once they were inside. “If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask.” Kai nodded as he continued to look around while walking behind Soobin. “This is my room and this is Beomgyu's room” Soobin finished his small tour once they reached the end of the hallway, pointing at their respective rooms which were parallel to each other.

“You guys must be paying a lot from how huge this place is” Kai looked astounded as he looked behind him, still fascinated with the wide living room and a huge kitchen and dining area. 

“Beomgyu chose this place because it’s cheap,” Soobin admitted as he laughed remembering Beomgyu calling saying he found the perfect place with a very cheap rent.

“The rent for this place is cheap?” Kai sounded even more amused.

“Yes, the running joke on this place is it’s haunted that’s why the price was low,” Soobin laughed, recalling the inside joke of all the tenants in this apartment place.

“Hyung.. are you scaring me?” Kai asked and he sounded scared.

“No I’m not. Don't worry, so far I haven't encountered anything in this place,” Soobin confidently stated but the universe has some other plans because just as he said those words, the windchime that was on the hallway on the entrance fell down. They both made their way to check what was that but all the windows were closed and they had no idea how it fell down. 

“Um, I'm sure that was nothing,” Soobin nervously chuckled as he ushered Kai back to the entrance of the rooms. “This is Beomgyu's room by the way, you could stay there.” Soobin tried to change the topic, not wanting to scare Kai even more.

“Can I stay in your room? I’m kinda scared of staying alone in Beomgyu hyung's room because of what happened” Kai moved to Soobin’s side, gluing himself close to him as he assessed the surroundings just in case. 

“Okay,” Soobin agreed almost immediately because he himself was feeling scared but of course he wouldn't say that out loud. 

They went inside and Soobin dropped Kai's things on the table beside his bed. He hurriedly fixed the bed so that Kai would be comfortable laying there. He placed a fresh blanket for Kai before taking a pillow and his own blanket and placing it on the couch beside the bed. 

“Are you going to sleep there?” Kai asked, eyebrows scrunched. Eyeing the pillow and blanket Soobin placed beside him on the couch.

“Yes? I don't want to ruin your sleep and I want you to be comfortable here.” Soobin smiled shyly, feeling a little confused with the frown on Kai’s face.

“I won't be uncomfortable if we sleep here on your bed hyung. Is that uncomfortable for you?” Kai asked, his frown getting deeper and he started to pout.

“No, I would never be uncomfortable with you” Soobin clarified immediately, he didn't want Kai to think that and because of his response, Kai smiled brightly.

“Then can you sleep beside me? Please?” Kai patted the spot next to him, his smile blinding Soobin.

“Okay,” Soobin answered without thinking and he was only able to process what was happening when Kai went to the couch where Soobin was seated and took the pillow and blanket he arranged there and placed it beside him on the bed. He patted the opposite side of the bed again for Soobin to occupy.

“Do you want ice cream? I have some in the fridge?” Soobin changed the topic almost immediately, scared that this discussion would lead to him being taken to the emergency room. 

Kai nodded and the excitement of his eyes were so evident that he almost wanted to coo but he stopped himself and proceeded to go to the fridge to get the ice cream.

Soobin pulled out the pint of ice cream he kept on their fridge for emergencies like this

“Wow mint choco, that’s my favorite” Kai announced, grabbing the cup the moment Soobin gave them to him.

And of course Soobin knew that, he was always so attentive to whatever Kai was doing. 

“Why do you have this flavor hyung? Beomgyu hyung despises this flavor so much. Good thing he doesn’t judge you whenever you buy them or take them out from the fridge” Kai blurted out while feeling giddy that he’ll get to eat his favorite ice cream. Meanwhile, Soobin was laughing internally because how would he tell Kai that Beomgyu did judge him, not just once and that he was very vocal with it by saying “ Soobin hyung I can’t believe you would betray our ‘I hate mint choco’ club just because of your deep crush towards Kai .”

“Yeah um, he just let me” Soobin nervously giggled, hoping Kai won’t notice his small lie because if Kai would know Beomgyu’s reaction, he would also know that Soobin is head over heels for him. 

“I’m jealous hyung, Taehyun hyung won’t let me keep this flavor in our fridge, he said his dignity with the ‘I hate mint choco’ club would be tarnished” Kai stated and Soobin almost choked because Kai did know about that stupid club Beomgyu made, he just hope Kai doesn’t know he was part of that club.

“Do you want to eat on the balcony? Soobin laughed before changing the topic as fast as he could and Kai nodded immediately.

They made their way towards the balcony, Kai holding the ice cream and Soobin holding two spoons for them and once they settled at the couch on the balcony. Once settled, they started to eat the ice cream.

It was a medium size pint and they ate it while watching the city lights shine on the city below them.

Soobin was blushing as they shared the ice cream. He completely forgot how much he hated this flavor because his heart was pounding so hard but at the same time couldn’t help but feel at peace. 

“The view in your balcony is so beautiful, hyung” Kai suddenly said as he took in the view of the city lights in front of them. 

Soobin was staring at him the entire time and watching Kai glow and sparkle made his heart flutter, “it is beautiful” he replied, smiling softly.

“The view here reminded me of the first time I arrived in Korea,” Kai admitted and Soobin noticed the wet glimmer on his eyes.

“How so?” Soobin asked, giving Kai his full attention. 

“It looked like the same view from the airplane,” Kai sighed before wiping his eyes. “Arriving here was scary at first. It was new to me and my sisters. We had to start our new lives here.” Kai admitted and Soobin listened to him attentively. “I didn’t have any friends here and I was scared I would be outcasted. I always thought I would never feel at home here.” Kai continued and Soobin wanted to comfort him.

“Do you still feel the same?” Soobin said instead, he wanted Kai to feel at home here but he didn’t want to insist if that was not the case.

“No, a lot of things happened after I met Taehyun hyung. I felt comfortable with myself but right now,” Kai looked at Soobin before saying “I think I could confidently say I finally found my new home here”

It was a soft moment between the two of them and Soobin wanted to treasure this memory forever. There was just something so vulnerable in hearing this from Kai and Soobin was glad he felt comfortable to share it with him. 

They spent some more time, sitting side by side in silence but the silence isn't awkward. It was very welcomed.

“Do you want to go back inside?” Soobin asked when he noticed Kai shivering from the cold and Kai agreed to him. 

“Do you have work tomorrow Soobin hyung? Do you want to watch a movie right now? I’m not sleepy yet” Kai asked once they entered the living room from the balcony. 

“I don’t have work tomorrow.” Soobin replied happily, it was still early and he would do anything to spend more time with Kai even if he would be a mess in his presence “What movie do you want to watch?” 

“August Rush” Kai answered immediately and Soobin nodded making his way towards their tv to set the movie up.

“Let’s watch it here” Soobin gestured the living room, “I’ll set it up, just settle in the couch first,” 

“Can we watch it in bed? My back is aching hyung” Kai pouted, holding his lower back exaggeratedly so that Soobin would pity him. “Plus, I'm still a little terrified with…” Kai didn't finish his statement but he pointed at the doorway entrance and Soobin understood what he meant.

They both rushed to enter Soobin's room in fear that something would step out of the hallway. 

They both laughed once inside, realizing how crazy they looked.

Kai settled at his side of the bed and Soobin could see him getting comfortable, even swaying his feet, while Soobin retrieved his laptop.

Soobin made his way towards his side of the bed, holding the laptop close to his chest and once he was under the covers, he couldn't stop smiling, the constant thought of being close to Kai is making him happy that he realized that he was smiling like a maniac when Kai pressed his cheeks. 

“Sorry,” Kai looked startled as he pulled his finger away. “Your cheeks just looked so puffy hyung,” Kai defended himself, avoiding Soobin's gaze but Soobin could see how he was doing his best to stop himself from smiling just like how Soobin is trying (but failing) to smile himself. 

Soobin gave in to his impulsive thoughts and did what Kai did, pressing his cheek. He almost squealed from how soft they were. He retracted his hands as fast as he could and before Kai could even react, he began setting up the laptop they would use to watch the movie.

He was still feeling a little distracted with their previous interaction when after a couple of minutes of finding the movie they would watch, the realization hit him. 

“Beomgyu” Soobin mumbled to himself, realizing this was probably one of the pranks Beomgyu pulled “Kai, I have a problem,” Soobin whispered, legs fidgeting.

“What is it hyung?” Kai perched up from where he was settled in and moved closer to Soobin so he could look at the laptop.

“I only have one movie here and I think this is Beomgyu’s fault” Soobin complained, he was 100% sure this was Beomgyu's doing and he could hear his laughter from the distance as he contemplated how he would resolve this issue. 

“That’s fine hyung, we could watch that” Kai smiled as he returned to his spot and tucked himself further into Soobin’s sheets. 

“But you wanted to watch August Rush,” Soobin mumbled, he wanted to do whatever Kai wanted to do.

“It’s fine hyung, I don’t mind watching anything as long as I watch it with you” Kai admitted, Soobin couldn't help but notice the blush on his cheeks. He couldn't help but admire his beauty and seeing him being this comfortable in Soobin’s bed was dangerous for his heart because why does he want to keep Kai with him forever?

“The movie is ‘The Conjuring’. I don't want you to get scared” Soobin pushed away his thoughts and informed Kai instead about their current situation. He didn’t want Kai to get scared and at the same time he didn’t want Kai to witness how much of a scaredy cat he was.

“It’s fine hyung I don’t mind” Kai giggled as he took the laptop from Soobin and decided to set up the movie himself.

“But,” Soobin took a deep breath, “no no, we can’t have that. Let’s move to the living room, there’s August Rush there” Soobin was about to stand up but Kai dragged him down to stay beside him. 

“It’s fine hyung, here is fine” Kai smiled at him and how can Soobin say no to that. That smile was and will forever will be his weakness.

Soobin sat down carefully beside Kai again, maintaining a respectful distance (for his sanity) and pressed play on the laptop. He was feeling nervous and he did his best to convince himself that the reason for what he was feeling was because they would watch a horror film. Yes, just that.

The movie started with the two of them inches apart, a small pillow situated in between them, but even with that distance, Soobin felt nervous. 

The eerie sound began playing and Soobin almost screamed (emphasis on almost,  he didn’t want to embarass himself in front of Kai). Unconsciously, he scooted a little bit closer to Kai as the movie started.

There were some dialogues at the beginning of the film and Soobin was doing his best to compose himself when suddenly the eye of Anabelle made him scream (a little according to him).

“Hyung, are you okay?” Kai asked and Soobin nodded as fast as he could. “Do you want to stop? It’s okay,” Kai smiled softly but no Soobin would be brave. He could do this. (Also, if they stop then they would need to sleep and Soobin still needs time to prepare himself in sharing the same bed with Kai)

“No, I just got surprised,” Soobin let out a nervous giggle, “we can continue,” he tried to smile and the worried look on Kai’s face made his heart skip a beat.

Soobin pressed play as he hid himself deeper into the blanket making his knees bump with Kai. His heart was beating even faster and this time it wasn’t because of the movie.

On the screen, the family was moving into their new home. The ambiance of the scene was kinda light but there was an eerie tone to it. The kids began playing their version of hide and seek which they called hide and clap and it was fun at first until they discovered a hidden basement inside one of the storage rooms.

Soobin almost shouted at the screen, wanting to warn the parents to not investigate further down the basement but he didn't want Kai to see him panicking like that so he decided to keep his mouth shut.

Soobin was able to stay still for the first 30 minutes of the film until the ghost started tormenting the family in the film. He wanted to close his eyes but flinched when he felt a small tap on his knees. He was surprised at first but felt relieved when he realized Kai was just trying to get his attention. Kai held out his hand and when Soobin took some time to realize what he meant he whispered “you can hold my hand if it’s too much hyung” Soobin was about to refuse but then somebody screamed on the screen making him grab Kai’s hand immediately. 

“I’m sorry,” he whispered, quickly letting go of Kai's hand. 

“It’s fine, I’m scared too,” Kai reassured him before removing the pillow between the two of them, moving closer to him and slowly grabbing Soobin’s hand for him to hold.

Now in that proximity, Soobin could hear all the small sounds Kai was making. His tiny gasps whenever something scary would show up and his slow breathing whenever the scene was calm and if you would ask Soobin, he would rather pay attention to Kai than to whatever was going on in the film.

 As the movie progressed and the evil spirit began disrupting the family even further, Kai would inch even more closer towards Soobin and Soobin would do the same. Soobin tried to defend himself (to himself) that Kai's presence was lowering the chance of him getting scared but he knew deep inside that he just wanted to be closer to him.

Currently on the screen, the part playing was when the mom found out that one of her daughters found this weird circus-sy music box and he gulped a couple of times doing his best to be brave but his brain kept on thinking “ why the hell does this movie have a music box? I have a music box, what if it suddenly plays on its own?” Soobin began to look around the room in search of his music box when he heard a loud bang that came from under his bed making him panic and grab Kai’s arm as he hid his face on Kai’s neck.

“I'm sorry hyung,” Kai apologized when he realized that Soobin was shaking. He pulled him closer to him and the next thing Soobin knew was Kai was hugging him. “I accidentally kicked my phone and it fell down,” Kai admitted as his grip on Soobin’s side tightened.

Soobin slowly detached himself from Kai and when he looked at him, their faces were merely inches apart from each other. 

“Sorry,” Soobin whispered but made no effort to move away. He just couldn't stop looking at Kai. Kai’s face looked even more beautiful in this view and Soobin couldn’t help but look at every single part of him one by one. He took a deep breath and when he looked at Kai’s lips, he had a difficult time stopping himself from leaning even closer. They were only a few inches apart when somebody screamed from the laptop screen and Soobin panicked and his body’s initial response was to cling towards the nearest person to him and that was Kai. 

His eyes remained close until the intense scene died down and when he was finally able to calm down, Soobin realized that he did not just hug Kai, he was practically laying on top of him and Kai, this sweet angel, was calming him by giving comforting rubs at his back.

“Sorry,” Soobin mumbled as he tried to stand up and give the two of them distance but he was surprised that he could not escape Kai’s grip. 

“It’s fine,” Kai whispered and Soobin was distracted with the way he gulped before Kai’s voice caught his attention “Can we stay like this for a while? Can you keep hugging me? I’m really scared hyung” and Soobin didn't have the heart to decline his soft request.

Soobin looked at Kai to check if there was some hesitance or forcefulness in his face but when he saw none of that, he nodded as he gently removed a strand of hair blocking Kai’s eyes. He wanted to cup Kai’s cheeks but stopped himself. Kai, on the other hand, pulled him closer as they returned to their hugging position. 

They stayed like that for a while and Soobin was doing his best to calm his heart but he kept on getting distracted with the way Kai was holding him, the way he smells, the way his heart was beating.

Soobin doesn’t know how long they stayed in that position. He felt calm, nervous, and sleepy at the same time for some moment now. He hoped they could stay like this forever.

But of course that’s not possible because after a few more seconds, a phone began to ring, breaking their small bubble and making them separate as fast as they could. 

If anyone actually saw them, it would look like they were two teenagers that got caught by their parents.

“Hello?” Soobin answered his phone as fast as he could without checking who called and the blood drained out from his face when he heard what the caller had said.

“Stop flirting. I could see what you’re doing.” A monotonous tone of voice whispered at the other end of the line.

“What!? Um no? I.. no” Soobin stuttered while giving Kai fleeting glances.

“Hyung, I was kidding, don’t tell me you guys are actually flirting? Did you finally make a move on Kai? Finally!” It was Beomgyu and he was almost shouting. It seemed like he was enjoying teasing Soobin as always.

“No? I, Beomgyu please keep quiet” Soobin tried to shush him but the way his shrieking and shouting kept on growing louder.

“Baby, stop disturbing them” Soobin heard Taehyun’s calm voice, it was a little distant but also a little close from the phone. Are they still cuddling? Soobin almost gagged.

“Ew, Taehyun calls you baby?” Soobin responded instead to deflect the topic.

“You’re just jealous because you want to call Kai baby!” Beomgyu shouted before dropping the call and Soobin was sure Kai heard it all with the way he was blushing at that moment. 

“Sorry about Beomgyu,” Soobin hurriedly apologized before gathering his pillow and blanket and standing up to move to the couch from how embarrassed he was feeling but before he could move farther, Kai was already pulling him back to his side of the bed. 

“Where are you going hyung?” Kai asked and he looked panicked.

“To the couch?” Soobin didn’t know what was going on but he was a little scared of what happened earlier with him and Kai and what it meant, and he didn’t know if Kai still wanted to share the bed with him after hearing Beomgyu’s teasing.

“But you said you would sleep here” Kai pouted and Soobin was close to melting with how he was looking at him, so without resistance, Soobin sat down at the bed earning a huge smile from Kai. “I don’t want to sleep alone” Kai's grip on his hand tightened as he began to reason, “I’m scared hyung, what if the ghost in your apartment sleep beside me while you’re not here?” Kai looked around before looking at the door with a terrified look on his face.

And of course, Soobin was weak for him. 

“Sorry, okay I’ll sleep here” Soobin apologized to clarify that he did not change his mind and when Kai was sure that he wouldn't leave, he settled on his side of the bed as well.

“Thank you,” Kai whispered as he looked at Soobin and Soobin couldn’t help but look at him as well.

It’s been a couple of minutes since the movie ended and they had already closed the lights but Soobin can’t sleep. His heart was pounding hard.

“Hyung,” Kai whispered in the darkness of the room. Soobin could feel him staring at him even if the only light they had was the light from the moon outside. “Are you asleep already?”

“Hmm?” Soobin hummed to acknowledge his question. 

“Why are you a calming presence to me?” Kai mumbled sleepily before slowly closing his eyes.

Soobin didn’t know how to answer because if anyone would ask him, he feels the same but the words won’t leave his lips. 

Kai fell asleep and Soobin watched him. He wanted to hold Kai so badly but he stopped himself. Instead he chose to watch him and observe his features. How pretty he looked sleeping, how perfect the slope of his nose was, how perfect the shape of his eyes were, how breathtaking and angelic he looked right now with the glow of the moon on his face. 

He watched in silence as Kai continued sleeping and wondered when he would finally do it. When will he have the courage to tell Kai his feelings? Will he ever gain that courage? Or will he accept the fact that he would contain his feelings forever.

Two days have passed since the night Soobin and Kai had a sleepover. They separated well after breakfast the morning after and they had been consistently messaging each other ever since but Soobin felt conflicted.

Conflicted because his feelings for Kai were overwhelming. He didn’t know if he could contain his feelings anymore. He wasn’t sure if he should confess because what if Kai says no, he couldn’t handle it if things would be awkward between them. If he was being honest, he wouldn’t mind being friends with Kai as long as he would allow Soobin to be in his life for as long as possible. But at the same time Soobin was scared that somebody else would take Kai away from him. The entire situation was conflicting and frustrating at the same time. 

He took a deep breath pushing the fears away and made his way towards the daycare center.

It was the last school day of the year and Taehyun and Beomgyu decided to go to Daegu over the holidays and even without their friends and him feeling a little hesitation, Soobin still decided to go just to get a glimpse of Kai before the year ends. 

Part of him wanted to spend New Year with Kai. He knew they weren’t dating or anything but he just wanted to spend some time with him but another part of him felt scared that he wouldn’t be able to keep his feelings to himself if he sees him right now.

Soobin began running towards the daycare center as he was a bit late today because a huge number of customers came before his shift was about to end. 

He wished Kai still hadn't left so he could at least say hi or just see him from afar.

He was almost feeling hopeless that Kai would still be there but to his surprise, he saw him on the phone on the front desk when he arrived. 

“I see, don’t worry I’ll keep them company until you arrive” Soobin heard him talking at the other end of the line.

“Ah Soobin hyung, hello” Kai greeted him enthusiastically when he realized Soobin was standing at the entrance. His smile is really one of Soobin’s favorite things about him.

“Hi,” Soobin greeted him back and he couldn’t stop himself from smiling widely. He was about to ask Kai if his work was done when he heard tiny footsteps coming their way.

“Teacher, let’s play some more,” a little girl suddenly tugged Kai’s hand before looking at Soobin and smiling shyly at him. 

“Okay, let’s go,” Kai held the girl’s hand and looked at Soobin apologetically, “Sorry hyung, I can’t talk too long, I need to watch them” He was about to wave goodbye when another little girl appeared, pulling Soobin’s hand this time.

“Excuse me, do you want to play with me?” the little girl wearing a pigtail asked and Soobin couldn’t help but notice that these two girls looked the same.

“What’s your name?” Soobin smiled softly, crouching down to come face-to-face with the little girl. 

“Ahyun-na I think this hyung needs to go home?” Kai suddenly called, smiling apologetically at Soobin.

“Do you have anyone here with you?” Soobin asked, feeling concerned that Kai might be left alone. 

“Nope, I’m alone, I’ll close the daycare after their parents get them, don't worry hyung,” Kai reassured him.

“Then,” Soobin hoped he wouldn't regret this, “Can I stay and watch them with you?” He asked as he watched the girls run towards one of the classrooms.

“Are you sure?” Kai was glowing and the way he was smiling at Soobin made his heart beat faster than ever.

“Yes I’m sure” Soobin smiled back at him as he nodded like an excited puppy  “Only if you want,” his thoughts were starting to resurface again. “but if you prefer to do it alone then I’d go” Soobin tried his best to keep his smile even if his negative thoughts were making him sad. 

Kai suddenly grabbed his hand and pulled him closer to him which caught him off guard.

“Hyung, of course I want to,” Kai admitted before pulling Soobin towards the room where the girls ran off to. Soobin froze and let Kai drag him inside as he secretly wanted to intertwine their hands together. 

Once inside the room, Soobin heard two loud shrieks and the next thing he knew, both him and Kai were being tackled by two kids.

Soobin couldn’t stop giggling and laughing from the way these two girls were tickling him. Kai had to take one of the girls so Soobin could have a small break before he was tackled down once more as the girls started claiming him as an enemy and they were now superheroes and Soobin and Kai had to pretend and play dead whenever the kids “attacked” them with their magical wands.

Soobin was extremely fascinated with them as these two girls really got some energy in them and he couldn’t help but be amazed that Kai was able to handle all of these very well and to think he does this everyday, Soobin couldn’t help but be fascinated with him even more.

Kai and the girls were full of joy and Soobin could stay there the entire day just watching them.

One minute they were pulling Kai to play tag with them and making him run away from Soobin,  the next minute they were pulling both Soobin and Kai to play hide and seek, Soobin found it funny that he needed to pretend that he could not find them and be surprised when they show up because they weren’t really hiding well, and now Soobin and Kai was busy watching them set up the music toy set so they could start their “performance”. 

The kids began singing common songs for kids and then proceeded to sing their favorite songs. 

Soobin stayed in the corner and clapped, showing the twins how much he was enjoying their performance. 

Ahrin stood in front of the piano and began playing a familiar beat. It was baby shark and Soobin couldn't help but coo as he watched her play. Her sister took the mic immediately and began singing the lyrics. It was an adorable sight. 

Soobin was clapping, completely endeared with the twins but of course the peace did not last long.

“It’s my turn now,” Ahrin shouted as she tried to grab the mic from her sister.

“But I still want to sing,” Ahyun shouted back, pulling the mic from her sister’s hold. 

The twins kept on grabbing and grabbing and Kai tried to intervene so that the fight would not escalate even further.

“Let’s take turns okay?” He asked gently but the twins were persistent and insisted on what they wanted. They continued to grab the mic away from the other and Soobin didn’t know what to do.

“How about we used this as a mic?” Kai asked, raising the mallets he was holding. 

“That’s not a mic,” Ahyun shouted, insisting that she wanted the mic her sister was holding.

“That’s for a xylophone teacher,” Ahrin spoke this time and they both proceeded again into fighting over the microphone.

Soobin panicked as he saw the two girls continue fighting over the mic. He saw Kai trying to console them but it wasn’t working, so he tried to distract them by telling them something he hoped they didn’t know.

“Did you know your Teacher Hyuka is also talented and can play all those instruments? He’s good at playing the guitar, the drums and the piano” Soobin announced to get the twins' attention. 

“What? Really?? Play for us teacher” and just like that, they forgot what they were arguing about.

Kai decided to grab the toy piano and began playing “Mary had a little lamb” which the girls were very familiar with as they began singing while Kai played.

“How did you know that I play instruments?” Kai whispered when the girls were busy playing with the other toys they found.

“I watched you play the piano for the kids a couple of times,” Soobin admitted shyly. 

“Oh, I-” Kai looked speechless and Soobin noticed he was blushing. He wanted to scream. He looked so pretty. 

“You’re really good, I always see how the kids enjoy you play any instrument” Soobin praised him from how talented he was.

“You were always watching? Why didn’t you tell me?” Kai responded, his voice increasing in volume a little but Soobin could hear the hint of happiness in his tone.

“I was shy,” Soobin whispered, how could he tell Kai that he wasn’t able to say anything after watching him play instruments for the kids because he was left speechless after seeing how talented Kai was. After witnessing his talent, Soobin couldn’t even stop talking about how talented he was in front of his friends to the point that Beomgyu would ask for 500 won every time he brought it up.

Their small bubble was interrupted when Ahrin seemed to lose her energy and decided to sit beside Soobin as her sister continued playing with the microphone

“Your hands are so big” Ahrin commented, making Soobin giggle before showing her his hand.

“And your hands are so tiny” Soobin commented feeling fascinated with how tiny and small her hands were. Such a precious child he thought to himself as he held her hand completely seeing the size difference.

“Bunny hyung, Teacher Hyuka has a big hand as well” Ahyun shouted from where they were seated before pulling Kai with her. She then grabbed Soobin’s hand so he could compare the size of his hand with Kai and Soobin’s heart almost stopped. The moment their hands touched, Soobin almost fainted. Kai's hand was so soft and this entire thing was incredibly dangerous for his weak heart. 

Soobin calmed himself upon noticing that he was the only one affected by all of this, Kai having his full focus on the kids in front of him. Soobin felt a little bit sad but he convinced himself that it was fine. He somewhat wished Kai also felt what he was feeling but Soobin knew that was asking for too much.

As Soobin was slightly sulking, the twins took the make-up set toy they kept in their bag and told Soobin they would make him even prettier. 

Ahrin took out a comb and a lip balm toy and began fixing Soobin’s hair and after that, she applied the lip balm on his lips. 

“Do I look pretty now?” Soobin asked while playing along and Ahrin nodded happily. After that she moved to her teacher and pulled out the same lip balm toy and applied it to Kai’s lips. 

“ Wait, is that an indirect kiss ?” Soobin’s brain kept on supplying and he needed to take deep breaths so he could calm himself because of how crazy his thoughts were.

His thoughts were once again disrupted when Kai tapped him on the shoulder and when he looked at him, there were two heart stickers on his cheeks. 

“How is it? Am I cute?” Kai asked and Soobin couldn’t say anything. He wanted to hold both of Kai’s cheeks and give them a small kiss but he needed to restrain himself. Why would Kai torture him like this? Soobin was lost for words as he tried to think of anything to say or do to respond to Kai but his attention was already directed to the kids. Soobin didn’t even get to react to his question but maybe that was for the better.

The kids were still not done playing and the next toy they chose was the doctor set. They began with checking each other’s temperature and checking if the other has a broken tooth and Soobin was busy giggling at their antics when suddenly Ahrin suddenly passed the stethoscope to him.

“Bunny hyung, you are now the doctor, please heal our pretty teacher,” she asked him cutely and Soobin’s heart almost burst from how adorable she was.

Soobin looked in front of him and saw Kai was already immersed in his role as the patient as he was lying on the floor, pretending to be asleep. 

“Okay how do I cure your pretty teacher?” Soobin smiled as he engaged with the game the girls decided to play 

“Please give him an injection,” Soobin followed but Kai was still not moving.

“The medicine did not work, what should we do next?” Soobin asked the kids, giggling, completely clueless how he should respond to their game.

“Please give him this medicine,” Ahyun handed him a random bottle that Soobin was sure that it wouldn't cure Kai if it was the real world but he still played along. 

“Oh no, the pretty teacher is still not waking up, what should we do?” Soobin asked in a cartoonish manner making Kai giggle even with his eyes closed.

“Please give him a kiss,” Ahrin commanded, grinning widely at Soobin.

“Kiss!?” Soobin almost shouted as he looked at Kai who remained in his position, giving Soobin a gentle smile. 

“Faster Bunny hyung, we are losing the patient” Ahrin began shaking Soobin, to let him know how urgent the situation was.

Soobin gulped before scooting forward, whispering a small “sorry” before pressing a soft kiss on Kai’s forehead. 

Kai suddenly stood up and pretended that he was already strong and feeling better and both girls rejoiced. 

The kids both cheered that their pretty teacher was healed and began hugging Soobin and pecking him on his cheeks.

Their small celebration of Soobin saving the pretty teacher was interrupted when they heard the bell on the front desk ring. 

“It’s probably their parents. Hyung, can you please watch the girls? I’ll just check if that’s their parents” Kai requested and Soobin nodded, deciding to play with the girl’s hair while waiting. 

Not long after, Kai returned and announced that their parents were there. Soobin and Kai said their goodbyes and Soobin found it so adorable that the girls requested that he should play with them again.

After the kids left, they both cleaned the area quietly.

Soobin was trying his best to calm his heart but how can he when he was now alone with Kai once again. He was stealing glances once in a while and there were a couple of times where he caught Kai looking back at him.

Soobin loved every single moment with Kai. His heart felt like it was about to burst as he watched him interact with his students. He looked so gentle, loving, and dependable and Soobin couldn’t help but fall even harder. He doesn't even know if he could still contain his feelings at all. It was like any minute he would explode.

And maybe that was what happened that afternoon.

“Thank you for accompanying me today hyung,” Kai suddenly spoke after putting the doctor kit they just played on its shelf. 

“You're welcome,” Soobin whispered, unable to look at Kai as he proceeded to put the musical instruments on their container. There was another wave of silence when Soobin felt someone tugging at the sleeve of his sweater and when he looked behind him, Kai was standing behind him.

“Thank you for visiting me and helping me here, you didn’t have to do that but you still did,” Kai avoided his gaze and Soobin couldn't help but notice the blush on his face. 

Soobin was speechless, he didn't know what to say. His mind was filled with thoughts of how much he likes him and it felt like his feelings reached its tipping point. 

“I think.. I like you too much,” Soobin mumbled shyly. He didn't know why he did it or what came across his mind to say it but after the words came out, he wished Kai wouldn't hear them. 

“Me? You like me?” Kai was surprised, eyes wide, he dropped the broom he was holding and he pointed his finger at himself.

“Wasn’t I obvious enough? Yoongi hyung said I was obvious” Soobin began rambling. Kai already heard it, might as well admit it. 

“To be honest I thought you, Beomgyu hyung and Taehyun hyun were a poly throuple or there were some weird love triangle happening between you three” Kai smiled awkwardly, unable to look Soobin in the eyes.

“What?” Soobin was surprised with Kai's remark, finding it hard to understand how and why he thought of that.

“Hyung, you visit Beomgyu hyung all the time with Taehyun hyung” Kai defended himself for making that conclusion, there was a small pout on his lips and Soobin wanted to kiss him so bad.

“I visit you,” Soobin admitted in a small voice.

“You visit me?” Kai whispered back, if the place wasn’t quiet enough, Soobin might not hear what he just said.

“I do, why do you think I began coming here for the most weird reason? It’s so I could have a reason to see you?” Soobin admitted and he couldn’t believe he finally admitted that his antics were weird and maybe a little chaotic.

“You don’t need to have a reason to come see me,” Kai stated, gathering enough courage to look at Soobin.

“But it would be weird to visit you for no reason” Soobin pouted, thinking hard why it would be fine to visit Kai randomly.

“Why would it be weird?” Kai looked at him like a sad puppy, like Soobin offended him with his statement.

“I don’t know.. I just.. I don’t know, I just think you wouldn’t like someone disturbing you all the time” Soobin clarified immediately so that Kai won’t think he didn’t like visiting him because it was 100% the opposite. If Kai would allow, Soobin would visit him before work starts and when work would be done every single day.

“I would never think that hyung, you visiting me would never be weird and I would never see you as a disturbance” Kai reached and held the sleeve of Soobin’s sweater as he admitted his thoughts.

“Are you sure?” Soobin asked, wanting to make sure.

“Is it okay if I ask why you want to visit me?” Instead of answering Soobin’s question, Kai decided to ask a question back.

“Because,” Soobin breathed out before letting out his answer, he couldn’t think of any way to say it or when to say it but he thought to himself that this would be the only chance he would get. “I told you earlier that I like you, I like you a lot.” if this won’t work well, he hoped Kai would still remain in his life “I’ve always had, some days I don't even know what to do with my feelings towards you. I hope my feelings for you won’t ruin the friendship we built now, you don’t have to like me back. I just had to say it” Soobin was afraid to look at Kai, scared that he would run away the moment their eyes met.

“You think I don’t like you when I anticipate when you’ll arrive almost everyday?” Kai stopped his rambling as he moved an inch closer to Soobin, dragging his hand down to hold Soobin’s pinky.

Soobin looked at him, contemplating if he should believe those words because how did it happen that the person he liked, likes him back? 

“You what? Are you sure?” He asked to confirm if what he heard was true.

“I saw you before the gray hoodie incident, I’ve always taken a peek at the cafe just in case it’s your shift” Kai began admitting and Soobin’s heart pounded with the thought of Kai knowing him without him knowing him. How was that possible? “I’ve been thinking of reasons why I need to go to the cafe until you started visiting here,” Kai was busy playing with Soobin’s fingers and Soobin wanted to clasped their hands together. “Hyung, ever since I first saw you, I wanted to get to know you more. I always wait for you to go here and visit Beomgyu hyung. I always want to see your smile and after seeing it, I feel like I could go on about my day smoothly.. and this may sound weird but I always had the urge to hold you. I just don’t have a valid reason to do it.” Kai talked in a fast manner, “you don’t know how much my heart is about to burst right now because you stayed with me and helped me with the girls'' Kai took a deep breath before looking at Soobin with intensity in his gaze.

Soobin was speechless with Kai’s confession. He couldn’t muster to say anything and Kai began talking again.

“Hyung, I’ve been wanting to get your attention ever since I first met you. You don’t know how extremely happy I get whenever I see you. To be honest I am kinda surprised that I wasn’t obvious enough for you. Yeonjun hyung always teases me whenever you're around.” Kai continued rambling and Soobin felt his soul disappearing as he continued because are we all sure he wasn’t dreaming?

“I even asked to borrow one of Beomgyu hyung’s books even though I know it wasn’t with him so that he would think it’s at home and call you to bring it” Kai admitted and that made Soobin smile because he wasn’t the only one who made random excuses to see the other.

He remembered that day clearly, how confused he was when Beomgyu called asking for him to bring 3 books from his bookshelf. He remembered even asking why he would need them if there were tons of books in their library but he didn’t complain as this would be a good reason to catch a glimpse of Kai and to his surprise Kai was the one who welcomed him and took the books from him.

Smiling from the memory, he slowly removed the way Kai was holding his pinky making Kai frown for a while but his frown turned into a smile when he noticed Soobin’s intention was to intertwine their hands together.

“Somedays, it feels like I look dumb while waiting for you at the gates.” Kai pouted before blocking Soobin’s line of sight to look at him carefully and Soobin wanted to kiss that pout away. 

“Hyung, I even like staring at the moon because it's crescent shape reminds me of your eyes when you’re smiling” Kai whined as he moved one step closer towards Soobin, while Soobin decided to fix the strands of hair blocking Kai’s eyes because he wanted to see them more.

“Hyung, do you think I get scared easily? I pretended to be scared from your story just because I wanted to have a reason to stay with you. I know this sounds crazy, but I took the chance to spend time with you that day because I don’t know when I will ever get to do that again” Kai complained and Soobin found it so adorable how whiny he was. 

“You were always so gentle. How do you expect me not to fall for you?” Kai whispered as his grip on Soobin’s hand tightened.

Soobin began to think and question himself like why would he think Kai doesn’t even like him even a tad bit when what he said was right. Kai didn’t give him any reason for him to think that he doesn’t feel the same, all their interactions proved that Kai liked him all along and Soobin was just blind to see it.

“Hyung, are you taking back what you said earlier?” Kai suddenly asked after a moment of silence, disrupting Soobin from his realization. He laughed nervously before making direct eye-contact with Soobin.

“No, why would I?” Soobin answered immediately, there was no way he would take back what he said, especially after Kai admitted he felt the same way too.

Kai laughed properly this time before moving one step closer towards Soobin and cupping his cheek.

“Because you're not answering, I told you I like you too, I just admitted all of my feelings and you’re not saying anything in return” Kai responded and he was still whiny and Soobin wanted to scream and maybe kiss him but he stopped himself. 

“I just couldn't believe it.” Soobin admitted, the smile on his face growing bigger and bigger as Kai stepped closer towards his space and Soobin mirrored his movement.

“Can I kiss your forehead hyung? Will that make you believe my feelings for you?” Kai asked, inching forward, hands lifting to touch Soobin’s cheeks.

“You can kiss my lips,” Soobin didn’t know where he gathered the courage to say those words but he said it anyway and when he saw Kai blushing and smiling widely at him, it felt like he accomplished something. 

He was about to smile back when he realized Kai was leaning forward and suddenly his warm and soft lips were on his and just as their first kiss happened, a loud boom erupted from the sky and they both realized that there was a firework show just near them.

They both got distracted for a bit when Soobin felt Kai grazing his cheeks and redirecting him to look at him. 

“My kiss?” Kai asked and how can Soobin say no with the way he was looking at him. Those angelic eyes would be the end of him. 

It felt like the fireworks they were hearing came from the bursting in his chest and Soobin pulled him even closer to kiss him even more.

“Happy new year hyung” Kai whispered when they separated and Soobin could feel that he was falling for him all over again.

“Happy new year Kai” Soobin responded. He could feel this year would be an amazing one because he finally got to admit his feelings towards Kai.

🐰Epilogue🐧

When Beomgyu and Taehyun came back from Daegu, they were surprised to see both Soobin and Kai on Beomgyu and Soobin’s apartment. 

Soobin was in the kitchen, preparing the take out food they had bought while Kai watched him with a soft smile on his face and they were both surprised when Kai removed a strand of hair from Soobin’s face and the pair exchanged gentle gazes towards each other.

Beomgyu looked at Taehyun and Taehyun looked back at him before grinning widely at each other.

“Did something happen while we were away?” Beomgyu teasingly stated, startling both Soobin and Kai.

“When did you guys get here?” Soobin whispered-shouted as he panicked a little for being caught.

“The real question is, when did you guys get together?” Taehyun smiled menacingly looking at both of them alternatingly. 

“I- I’m,” Soobin began stuttering and he looked at Kai immediately as if he was waiting to be saved. Kai giggled in return and in response to their friends, he tangled their hands together.

“Just a few days ago, when you guys left me all alone to fend for myself” Kai glared at them jokingly before laying his head on Soobin’s shoulder and holding his hand even tighter.

Both Beomgyu and Taehyun squealed as they pulled their roommates for a group hug.

“Finally Soobin hyung, I don’t know the entire story yet but I’m glad you guys are finally together.” Taehyun shouted, his voice full of joy and Soobin was glad because he saw how supportive Taehyun was to them being together.

“I’m sure Kai did all of it from how dense Soobin hyung is but I’m glad you’re done with that phase hyung,” Beomgyu squeezed Soobin’s cheeks and Soobin began laughing cause why did that sound like an insult?

After the energy and excitement died down, the group ordered more food and Kai and Soobin began telling the full story of how they confessed their feelings towards each other earning loud squeals from the other couple.

The night went by quickly and as Soobin was preparing to separate from Kai, Beomgyu made an announcement.

“I would be sleeping with the love of my life at his apartment right now as we don’t want to separate this newly wed right here” Beomgyu pointed at them dramatically before picking up his duffle bag and pulling his boyfriend with him towards the door. 

“Enjoy the rest of your evening, don’t destroy our apartment bye” Beomgyu shouted as the door shut.

“Bye guys,” Taehyun shouted as well at the other side of the door and after a couple of bits of silence, Kai and Soobin looked at each other.

“I guess you’re stuck with me hyung,” Kai smiled shyly and Soobin giggled before pulling Kai to hug him. He has been wanting to do that for the entire time they were with their friends but now that they were alone together, he finally gathered the courage to do it. 

“It’s fine by me as long as it’s you I'm stuck with,” Soobin mumbled as he hid his face on the crook of Kai’s neck.

This is one of the things Soobin loved now that Kai already knew about his feelings and that he reciprocated his feelings back. He can now hold him and hug him and kiss him and tell him his feelings whenever he can and Kai definitely does the same.

After hugging in the hallway for some time, they changed into their pajamas (don’t tell Taehyun and Beomgyu but ever since they confessed, Kai had been sleeping in Soobin and Beomgyu’s apartment thus his things were there)

Once they were ready for bed, they settled in as Soobin pulled his laptop so that they could watch a movie, a routine they already started to form ever since they got together.

They were scrolling through the screen looking for another movie when something caught Kai’s attention.

“Conjuring 2” Kai whispered before looking at Soobin with a mischievous smile.

“Do you want to watch that?” Soobin gulped, he slightly remembered the first movie, slightly because he got his eyes closed most of the time and because he got distracted with Kai at the other half of the film.

“Yes, can we?” Kai looked at him with those big beautiful eyes and Soobin swore those eyes would be the end of him.

“Okay,” Soobin felt nervous but remembering when he got scared the last time, Kai was there to comfort him, so he was sure he would be the same so he got nothing to be scared of.

Kai settled under the blankets and pulled Soobin beside him, tangling his arm with Soobin’s immediately and Soobin’s heart still needed to get used to this because he still could not believe that the person he liked liked him back.

The movie started with this eerie undertone once again. Soobin gulped from his spot, sinking further under the blanket and even closer to Kai.

“I’m here, don’t worry,” Kai whispered, distracting Soobin from the creepy scenario happening on the screen. Soobin’s heart began beating faster because how was it possible to keep on falling and falling for a person you’re already in love with? 

Soobin couldn’t stop himself and he didn’t even dare to stop himself as he pressed a kiss on Kai’s cheeks before snuggling even closer to him. He felt glad that now he could do all of these to Kai because just last week, he felt exploding with the amount of affection he had for him.

As the movie progressed and the evil spirit continued possessing the child, Soobin remained in his spot keeping his eye shut as he hid from the crook of Kai’s neck and his hold on Soobin’s shoulder was gentle but was holding and pulling Soobin closer to him.

A loud scream erupted on the screen and Soobin couldn’t even dare to look. He proceeded to squeeze himself towards Kai when he heard him giggling. He looked up and saw Kai looking at him with the most gentle gaze he had seen.

“Are you laughing at me?” Soobin asked moving away a little to give them a small distance but Kai kept him in place. 

“No, I’m just happy,” Kai confessed but his response still made Soobin a little suspicious. 

There was another scream from the screen startling Soobin and Kai reached for the laptop and paused the movie. 

“I’m really happy,” Kai repeated and Soobin gave him a puzzled look. 

“You’re happy that I’m scared?” Soobin asked, thinking to himself if him being scared was funny or anything. 

“No, I’m happy that I get to hold you like this without reason. I’m happy that I can spend time with you just because. I’m happy that I can finally express just how much I love you.” Kai kept on looking at him and Soobin almost didn’t process what he said until he did. 

“You love me?” Soobin was surprised because how was this possible? Soobin couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Was all of these real?

“I do, I always have. Ever since I first saw you, with how gentle you are with life, with how caring you are, with how soft you are with everyone. Everything about you is so precious hyung, how could I not love you?” Kai confessed and Soobin was shocked that he was loved like that, like he felt it everyday since they got together and before that but hearing it straight from the mouth of the person he loves? Soobin wanted to cry.

“Am I moving too fast, hyung?” Kai asked when Soobin remained quiet for far too long and Soobin didn’t want that, he didn’t want Kai to doubt even for one second that he doesn’t feel the same way because he did. 

“No, I love you too,” Soobin answered hurriedly, his voice shaking but he hoped his feelings reached Kail and he thought it did because not even a few seconds had passed and Kai was already pressing their lips together.

“Will you be my boyfriend?” Kai asked when they separated a little and his question made Soobin smile

“Of course” Soobin was elated because how did it happen that the person whom he thought didn’t like him the same way he did was suddenly asking him to be his boyfriend?

“My boyfriend,” Soobin kept on repeating and repeating as he gave every single part of Kai’s face small kisses making Kai giggle.

“Yes, I’m your boyfriend and your mine,” Kai stated as he kissed Soobin’s forehead. “Now boyfriend, let’s finish watching the movie so I could continue cuddling you” He pulled Soobin closer to him once again as he pressed play on the laptop.

They continued to watch the movie until Soobin noticed that Kai wasn’t flinching. 

“Aren’t you afraid of the film?” Soobin questioned as another scream erupted from the screen.

“Horror films don’t really scare me hyung,” Kai stated, looking at Soobin intensely making him blush, “I’m more afraid of losing you” Kai smiled at him gently.

“Stop,” Soobin laughed, unable to contain the giddiness in Kai's teasing.

“It's true,” Kai responded before pulling Soobin closer to him again. 

“So that time you were just pretending? When there was that weird paranormal thing in the hallway? While we watched Conjuring 1?” Soobin clarified, recalling what happened during their first overnight and feeling embarrassed the entire time, he was the only one feeling terrified. 

Kai giggled “yes, I just want to be close to you that's why I asked if I could stay in your room” he admitted and Soobin couldn’t stop his cheeks from reddening. 

“You could have asked without pretending to be scared,” Soobin pouted, trying to act confident even if his heart wanted to escape from his chest.

“But I didn't know you liked me back then, I didn't want you to do something that would make you uncomfortable” Kai whispered and Soobin reached for his cheeks to make him look at him.

“You don’t need to think about that now. You could hold me anytime you want.” Soobin reassured him before moving closer to Kai.

And just as Soobin stated, Kai did. 

He cuddled with Soobin until the movie ended and they continued to cuddle for every single day they were together. 

Like bubblegum, they became inseparable making everyone regret pushing this agenda (nobody’s really regretting, they’re all just gagging with how affectionate these two become towards each other)
