Chapter Text

Jackie and Isabel Taylor were born at 2:43 on a cold Friday morning.

It was a surprise to their parents, two girls, that is.

Mr and Mrs Taylor had gotten used to the idea of twins over the past months; however, they had convinced themselves that the twins would be one of each, a boy and a girl. They had even picked out their names; Jackie and Henry.

Mr Taylor now stood in his wife's private hospital room rocking one of the babies in his arms as he watched his wife cradle the other.

"Hello, Jaqueline." Mrs Taylor smiled at the newly named baby, sleeping soundly in her mother's arms.

Mr Taylor studied the baby in his arms and sighed.

"Well, she doesn't look like a Henry."

Mrs Taylor looked up at her other daughter, who it seemed had nestled closer to her husband since she last looked at the pair.

"No, she doesn't."

"What about Henrietta?" Mr Taylor suggested, which earned a glare from his wife. "Honey, what's wrong with Henrietta?" he sighed; his wife was a perfectionist, and he had been hoping to avoid the whole hassle of picking names after the twins were born.

"We can't call her Henrietta," she argued, "What if people still call her Henry?"

"would that really be the worst thing?" he regretted the words as soon as they left his mouth.

"yes, it would!" she retorted. "We need a new name, a nice name, just for her."

"Henrietta is a nice name," Mr Taylor grumbled, sitting carefully on the chair beside his wife's bed and adjusting his daughter in his arms. This was precisely the sort of hassle he had wanted to avoid.

Mrs Taylor furrowed her brow, trying to think of every name she had considered before settling the name Jaqueline, Jackie for short.

"Sarah's a nice name," she mused. "It is very popular, though. There might be five Sarahs in her class."

Mr Taylor looked at his wife in confusion. "Why are we worried about her potential classmates' names?"

"She can't possibly stand out to her teachers if she's one of five Sarahs, can she?"

"Of course not, dear." he sighed, leaning back in the chair, trying to think of a name his wife might approve of.

"Elizabeth is too popular as well," his wife muttered, screwing up her face as she thought hard for the perfect name.

It was almost an hour later. The nurse had come and gone, the twins had been returned to their respective cribs, and Mr Taylor had drifted off to sleep in the uncomfortable hospital chair when his wife abruptly shook him awake.

"What's wrong" he questioned, looking over at her.

"Isabel," she stated.

"What?" he asked her, still half asleep.

"Her name," She responded, "Her name is Isabel."

Mr Taylor was pretty sure that Isabel was also a popular name, but he liked it well enough, and it seemed as though his wife was happy with it.

"Isabel," he echoed

"Yes, Isabel," his wife confirmed

"Jackie and Isabel," he mused. "I like it."
