Woonhak blinked sluggishly, his vision blurring as he fought to keep his eyes open. The dorm was buzzing with energy, the members sprawled across the living room, chatting and joking as they unwound after a long, exhausting practice. Normally, Woonhak would be right in the thick of it—laughing, teasing, and playing around. But tonight, sleep tugged at him insistently, making his limbs feel heavy and his mind foggy.
He knew he should just go to bed. His body was practically begging for it. But at the same time, he didn’t want to leave. Spending time with the members like this—relaxed, unguarded—was one of his favorite things. He didn’t want to miss out.
So, he tried. He tried to keep up with the conversation, nodding along even though the words were starting to blur together. He tried to laugh at Sungho’s dumb jokes, even though they barely registered in his tired brain. He even tried to sit up properly, but his body had other plans.
Unbeknownst to him, Riwoo had been watching from across the room, a small smirk playing on his lips. He wasn’t usually one to focus on little details like this, but Woonhak’s drowsy struggle was impossible to ignore. His slow blinks, his head bobbing forward before jerking up again, the way he subtly leaned against whoever was closest to him—it was all incredibly amusing.
And, if Riwoo was being honest, a little cute too.
“Dude,” Taesan finally said, staring at Woonhak with an amused expression. “Are you okay?”
Woonhak, whose head had just lolled to the side against Taesan’s shoulder, blinked blearily up at him. “M’fine,” he mumbled, his voice soft and slow.
Taesan snorted. “Yeah, sure you are. You look like you’re about to pass out.”
“I’m not tired,” Woonhak insisted, though the effect was completely ruined by the giant yawn that forced its way out of him immediately after.
Sungho burst out laughing. “You literally just yawned mid-sentence. Just go to bed, man.”
Woonhak whined, shaking his head as if that would get rid of the sleepiness. “Noooo,” he dragged out, his voice turning even softer. “I wanna hang out with you guys.”
“Yeah, but you’re not even hanging out anymore,” Jaehyun chuckled from where he was sitting cross-legged on the floor. “You’re too busy trying not to sleep to even hear what we’re saying.”
Leehan, who had been quiet up until now, smiled gently. “You can always spend time with us tomorrow. It’s not like we’re going anywhere.”
Woonhak groaned dramatically, clearly not ready to accept defeat. “But I’m fine,” he mumbled again, shifting slightly.
Unfortunately for Taesan, that shift meant Woonhak was now leaning entirely against him. Taesan made a face and gently pushed him away. “Okay, no offense, but if you’re gonna act like a sleepy koala, at least do it to someone else.”
Almost on instinct, Woonhak turned toward the next closest person—Riwoo.
Riwoo barely had time to react before Woonhak plopped against him, his head resting comfortably against his shoulder.
Silence fell over the room for a split second.
Then—
“Ohhh, interesting,” Sungho said, grinning like he had just won the lottery.
Jaehyun smirked from his spot on the floor. “I didn’t know Woonhak had a favorite pillow.”
Leehan chuckled softly, shaking his head. “Be nice, guys.”
Riwoo, on the other hand, sat completely still, unsure of what to do. His mind had short-circuited the moment Woonhak leaned against him, and now the younger boy was nuzzling into his shoulder like he belonged there.
“Woonhak,” Riwoo said, trying to keep his voice steady, “what are you doing?”
“Mmm,” Woonhak hummed, shifting slightly to get more comfortable. “You’re comfy.”
Riwoo blinked. He wasn’t sure how to respond to that.
The other members were definitely enjoying this way too much.
Taesan, now free from being Woonhak’s human pillow, was grinning. “This is so cute. I should take a picture.”
“No,” Riwoo said immediately.
Taesan ignored him and pulled out his phone.
Leehan, ever the responsible one, finally decided to step in. “Okay, okay, let’s not embarrass him too much. Woonhak’s obviously exhausted.”
Taesan smirked but relented, tucking his phone away. “Fine. But this is still hilarious.”
Riwoo sighed, looking down at Woonhak, who had gone completely still against him. He peeked over to find that the younger boy’s eyes were now fully shut, his breathing slow and even.
He had fallen asleep.
Riwoo swallowed.
This was… new.
He wasn’t used to this kind of affection. Woonhak was always energetic, bouncing around like he had an endless supply of energy. Seeing him like this—soft, quiet, vulnerable—was a different experience entirely.
And yet, despite the unfamiliarity, Riwoo didn’t hate it.
In fact, he found himself adjusting slightly so Woonhak could rest more comfortably.
Leehan, who had been watching the whole time, smiled knowingly. “You’re really not going to push him off, huh?”
Riwoo shot him a half-hearted glare but didn’t respond.
Sungho snickered. “Wow. I think we just discovered Woonhak’s secret weapon.”
Jaehyun leaned back, resting his hands behind his head. “Honestly, I don’t blame Riwoo. If Woonhak used his sleepy charm on me like that, I would let him stay too.”
Riwoo rolled his eyes but still made no effort to move.
Woonhak let out a small sigh in his sleep, his fingers curling slightly into the fabric of Riwoo’s hoodie. His face was completely relaxed, his lips slightly parted as he breathed steadily.
For some reason, Riwoo felt his chest tighten.
He wasn’t sure what it was, but something about this moment felt… nice.
Soft.
Comfortable.
Maybe, just maybe, he didn’t mind it as much as he thought.
“Alright, you guys have had your fun,” Leehan said, standing up and stretching. “We should probably head to bed too. Let’s not make this harder for Woonhak when he wakes up.”
Jaehyun smirked. “Harder for Woonhak, or harder for Riwoo?”
Riwoo groaned. “Shut up.”
The others laughed as they slowly started leaving the living room, one by one.
Soon, it was just Riwoo and Woonhak.
Riwoo glanced down again, watching the slow rise and fall of Woonhak’s chest.
Carefully, hesitantly, he raised a hand and placed it lightly on Woonhak’s head, fingers threading through his soft hair.
Woonhak let out another content sigh, burrowing closer.
Riwoo swallowed hard.
Yeah.
Maybe he wouldn’t mind if this happened again.
As long as no one else was around to witness it, of course.
