"Hellllloooooo everyone to the Grudgby game!"
Willow could hear the announcer even in the locker room. She sat on the bench that was besides her, worried out of her mind.
It had been months since she played any Grudgby games. Normally, she'd wouldn't care about whatever people thought of her out in the field, and would be tough, like she always did, but considering how long it had been since she last was in one, and it was a college Grudgby game? Yeah, all the reason for her worrying. Oh, how she wished Hunter was here. He would probably tell her how "she's got this, you're Willow for Titans sake" and "you're tough as hell!". She smiled at the thought of him.
"Have fun failing nerd!"
She looked up, seeing Boscha taunting her as she left the room. Anger flowed through her veins, but she smothered it down. She needed the anger out in the filed to kick Boschas butt. She groaned, and put her face in her hands.
"Ugh, this SUCKS!"
"It must be, anything I can do to help?"
Willow heard the voice and removed her hands to see who the voice belonged to.
"Gus?! You do know that non-players aren't allowed in here? How'd you even get in? There's always someone guarding the door."
"Illusion magic, you probably should have guessed that. But how I got in doesn't matter, what matters is what's happening with you. Why aren't you out there already? Did something happen or are you anxious about getting out there? If you want, I could ask the announcer to take their role for the game, in case that'll make you feel better, having someone you know be close to you."
"Heh, thanks Gus but that won't help."
Gus sat down next to Willow, giving her a wide margin of the bench. He said nothing more, allowing Willow the silence until she wanted to say what she wanted.
"...the truth is, is that I'm afraid of going out there. Yes I know I shouldn't but it's been forever since I last was out on the field and what if I suck? What if everyone looks down on me since my skills have gotten worse? I know that won't happen, but what if it does? And then there's Boscha being her bitchy self again and I'm just...UGH!"
"Well, just know that...I won't think of you any less, nor will our friends who are undoubtedly gonna watch. We're not gonna care about HOW well or bad you play, we're here for YOU. Don't forget that, ok? And screw Boscha! The fact she's still bullying you in college says a lot about her. Just ignore her as best you can."
Willow took a deep breath in. And let it out.
"Thanks Gus. I'm still afraid but that makes me feel a little bit better."
"WILL WILLOW PLEASE JOIN THE REST OF HER TEAMMATES ON THE FIELD?!"
They both heard the announcement, and they both got up.
"Guess you have to go."
"Guess I do, have fun Willow, and don't forget about us."
He slowly walked to the door and, giving one last wink at her, left.
"Heh, I won't."
