Work Text:

POE

I gotta know: Was it to pay an old debt?
Or did you come back ‘cuz you lost a bet?
With this red smoky haze,
And large concrete maze,
It’s amazing you haven’t gone insane just yet.

SIMON SMOKE

You really think that you can win?
When others fell with your same sin?
Just give up this quest.
You’re now facing the best.
You won’t? Well then…let the games begin.

RABIE BABY

Don’t think I haven’t heard any news,
Or hearsay about what you might choose.
Go ahead and hide,
Your thoughts deep inside,
But the truth’s plain to see: You’re going to lose.

MAGGIE MAKO

When I get hungry, finding food isn’t tricky.
To some, how I get it can be very icky.
But without sugar or spice,
Or anything nice,
Believe me, you’ll learn to become less picky.

ALLISTER GATOR

Why run around and waste energy,
when my next meal can just come to me?
They say I just laze.
But patience? It pays!
My prey, it will come…eventually.

ICKY LICKY

You think that you can get away,
Staying ahead in this game we play?
You’re not outrunning me.
I’m…waiting! You’ll see!
You’ll make the wrong move! I’ll eat good today.

BABA CHOPS

You really must’ve dug yourself deep,
If you’re being followed by THIS black sheep.
Through the shadows, I sneak.
Around corners, I peak.
Then, when the time is right, I leap.

TOUILLE

Will the wool be pulled over your eyes?
Will those you befriend give up their disguise?
There’s not much to say,
For what it’s worth anyway,
I’m interested in seeing if you’ll claim first prize…

Notes:

I wanted to mark the release of Safe Haven with a oneshot starring the Nightmare Critters, but I finally got 2-3 Word pages in today before realizing that I was NOT going to finish it in time. Completely my fault. I should’ve started it last night when I first got the idea. Oh well, I got it started, so I’ll keep working on it alongside Carefully Crafted.

I still wanted to do something with the creative inertia I’d built up, though, so here’s what I have to show for it- for what it’s worth…
