Work Header

we’re all lovely and lively

Summary:

He sighs, “just wait until you see her. She’s lovely.”
He doesn’t mention that she’ll make him feel alive too.

Work Text:

He doesn’t like it when Jonnaay disturbs him. Especially with such nonsense. So when Jonnaay knocks on his door, he tries to be hopeful.

“What do you want?” Scott asks. His voice is like honey. He had just woken up to this.

There’s a spark of excitement in Jonnaay’s eye that quite honestly pisses Scott off. He’s too tired for this.

Jonnaay asks him, “can I ask you something?”

Scott starts shutting the door in his face, telling him, “yes, that was a question.”

He cuts him off with a sense of urgency.

“No, wait —“ he calls out.

Scott sighs and opens the door to silence. Jonnaay is smiling nervously.

“I’ve got a girl over tonight, is that alright?” he asks.

Scott almost falls over. He blinks, chokes back a laugh, and clears his throat. He asks him, “you’re joking, right?”

“Okay, now you’re just an asshole,” Jonnaay complains. He sighs, “just wait until you see her. She’s lovely.”

He isn’t sure whether or not he wants to believe Jonnaay. He won’t be surprised if it’s Jack Manifold entering their flat later tonight, dressed up in some makeup and a wig.

But he realizes that Jonnaay is telling the truth only when a woman does walk through their door in the evening.

By all accounts, she is indeed lovely. She’s lively as well. Not as much as he remembers her being, but enough to be a reminder that he’s alive too.
