Work Text:

Being Castrum Kremnos’s leader was not an easy challenge for anyone, but to become one is also as gruesome as attempting to rebel out a lion's claw. A place where prideful warriors gather, it was seen as a suicide to just even step inside the palace, not to even including wondering around out of curiosity.

Clearly our Y/N here has no survival instinct for that of a young lady of 15. Not to mention, refusing marriage proposals from most of the kingdom, she chooses to learn how to wield a sword, said to be a taboo of a noble lady. She walked further inside the Kremnos palace, her heart beats faster with excitement as she followed the corridors where torches lit up the wide space, the walls lead her to an open space, although walled, it's ceiling were left open to let the sunlight in, forming a circle room where a figure diligently swung his wooden sword.

Y/N grinned as she firmly held her wooden sword, and proudly stepped onto the training grounds, earning a look from the taller and older looking blond haired figure with pink tips at the end. He looked somewhat from a wealthy family, could he be a guard’s family member? Who knows!

“Greetings! Up for a spar, mister?”

The blond boy, confused, turns to face the girl fully. Glaring at the person that disturbed him of his training, he glanced at the wooden sword that she held tipping on the ground as she placed her hand on her hip waiting for his answer.

A grin, “.. Why not.” left his tongue as he pointed his sword to the girl, earning a whistle.

First striking was Y/N with the unknown blond haired boy dodging, the fabric of his clothes following his swaying figure as he uses his own wooden sword to counter her attack, turning his feet as his sword towards the back of her neck, only to be met with her own as he jumped back leaving some space, “Not bad, you’re decent.” he laughed out.

“Thank… you !”

Multiple clashes echoed through the hallway as a retainer ran along to the source of the clash with worried looks, before revealing a beam as he had found the blond boy, “Young master!” the servant calls out.

The boy hummed as he held his sword firmly, stopping his partner’s attack before turning to the person calling him. “I have been looking for you- Ah, Lady L/N… I must apologize that this is an urgent matter that has to be solved at once. I'm afraid I will have to disturb your  battle here.”

The said lady chuckled as she shook her head, “No worries, it was a great spar. Thank you,…?”

“Mydei.”

“Thank you, Mydei. I enjoyed today. Let us spar again in the future.” Offering a hand to the other, she smiled kindly, to which the boy took and shook her head with a firm grip, his armour glove shined gold blinding the eyes, before parting ways with a smirk and a small wave of goodbye as he left to somewhere within the Castrum Kremnos’s castle, without looking back.

“Mydei…? Well it does ring a bell, which family has a son named Mydei, kind sir?” The girl lost in her thoughts hummed with confusion, as she turned to the man that had just come to look for the said name.

“Well! That would be our crown prince Mydeimos, miss.”

“.....Pardon?”

“You never asked.”

The lady groaned in frustration as he let her wooden sword drop to the grassy field, as she lay down on the grass beside the sitting Mydei. “So I’m supposed to ask every single person I meet if they are of royal descent now?”

This would be their second meeting, outside the palace of Castrum Kremnos where birds chirp and no guards near them. It is a quiet place, beside the palace where a vast forest was. A warm afternoon accompanied by the nice weather, and their swords that now left abandoned on the ground as they sat under the shade of a tall tree, letting the breeze pass.

“Have you never heard of palace rumors? Surely members of a royal family’s name is hard to forget once passed by the ear.” The older boy said firmly as he is quite confused as to why someone with a noble title as Y/N did not recognize him despite the many public matters in and out of Kremnos he had attended formally.

“That… I am questioning too, but hey we’re acquainted now!”

Mydei sighed with a smile as he slowly got up and faced Y/N.

“Then let’s continue where we left off.”

“Haha! Why not?

“-arriage….? I’ve never agreed to this, father .” The familiar voice speaks with a tone of frustration.

“I am your father, I will have it done how I see it fit. Mydeimos, just listen and do as I say.”

“.....Very well.”

Y/N quietly stood outside the room, as the footsteps of retainers drowned out her escape as Mydei left the King’s room with anger.

It was not long after that events that the arranged marriage were to commence, Mydei stood quite shockingly in his party’s attire that of a white blouse like robe that was embroidered with golden threads, as he stared at Y/N wearing her long white gown with long flowy sleeves, the two were complimented with a matching golden crown, with Mydei’s a little larger in size, and his partner’s more with gemstones and dainty.

“Did you know about this??” he asks with confusion as he looks at his soon to be bride, the crown princess.

“Can’t say I didn’t…”

“And you never told me,” Mydei sighed as he facepalm, “I was worrying too much, thank the titans it’s someone I know well.” he whispered under his breath as he rested his eyes while Y/N gently fixed her dragging skirt.

“Can we go and get this done faster??” Y/N asked as she looked quite annoyed at the stuffy clothes. “Yeah… Let’s get this over with.”

Taking the looped arm of Mydei, Y/N walked towards the door where the party will be held.

With the complicated paperworks, whatever power was transferred, the seal was stamped and now, the two are pronounced as married, well not yet, as the vows and ceremony are yet to be done, it takes more time to actually proceed to the wedding. Currently the two are merely engaging in an engagement party. Though half of the times were Y/N nodding along to the long stories of Mydei’s father, the king, with a small smile of annoyance, while Mydei sat on the throne with the look of boredom, sipping away many, many cups of pomegranate juice.

The night were no longer young when the two returned to Mydei’s room, or more like their room now. Though it was mostly littered with his item of preferences such as clothes, fabrics, blankets, and much more decorations, he is still considerate enough to let his newly engaged partner to place any belongings of hers to his space. He quietly sat down on a chair near his bed after he had changed into his usual red robe, messy as the transparent canopy ghost it, where a polished wooden chess board on the edge neatly arranged as if waiting for its owner to play it. Mydei’s expression almost looked like he was bored, swirling the cup of pomegranate in his hand as he watched the moon rise even higher tonight.

Y/N locked the bedroom door as she too had changed into a sleepwear, as the cold wind entered the room from the large glass window that was left open for who knows how long. Watching the blond’s hair sparkle like gold under the moon’s light. “Tired yet?” She asked playfully as she sat on the edge of the bed next to the chessboard and picked up the Knight on her side, placing it on F3.

He merely scoffed, leaning in closer behind the canopy before slipping his hand inside to take the pawn in front of his queen, moving it 2 steps.

The night will be long, and the final victor will take their place.

Nikador, the one who lost his reason. The lord of Kremnos was the one who brought destruction to his own followers. Who would’ve guessed? No one.

That is exactly why the Kremnoans are losing their minds right now, Y/N, who just came back from a business matter out in other cities of Amphoreus, coming back to be pronounced as the queen, the current king, Eurypon was murdered by the crown prince, Mydeimos. The queen, Gorgo, was killed in a challenge by her own husband.

How would a mere lady that had just turned into an adult process that kind of burden? Not to even imagine how the child of the two would feel.

It's not like they’d have the time to even wait to take a moment anyways, not when Castrum Kremnos is on the verge of crumbling, the skies are slowly darkening, and Titankins are everywhere attacking civilians. Y/N stands firmly outside the palace gate, fighting off the Titankins that dare to step into the palace with determination no matter how many hits she had taken to do so.

“Y/N!” A familiar voice calls out from a very long bridge that connects the palace to another ground, the blond haired prince ran towards you while his white haired companion tried to fight away the Titankins that striked their weapons.

“Mydei!” A smile of ease as she saw him.

“Y/N, let’s move out, it's not safe here.”

You’re wounded, and they’re in a hurry. You know very well than to take them down with you, you know very well you won’t leave this place once you have come back to protect it.

“Leave for Okhema, Mydei. And send me a troop of Mnestia.”

“What are you on about-”

“I believe we know I wont be able to go with the Chrysos heirs' pace.”

Mydeimos, the undying, is Kremnos' one of best warriors. He knew very well what his partner meant. Yet there’s something in him that refuses to believe what she had said were true.

He looked down to his dishevelled outfit, as he spotted a familiar necklace that was decorated with the same charming blue sapphires to his own golden one. He took them off with both of his armoured hands, and walked closer to Y/N.

Y/N had been the one who initiated everything, from the time they knew of each other. It is about time that he would be the one to initiate this.

The proximity of his figure to her was close enough to feel his own heartbeat, yet you couldn’t hear of it. The red lining across his body glistened as he leaned down to press his forehead to her’s and hold her face.

“I want you to have this, so please. Wait for me to come back for you, to see the best picture of you, my only treasure.”

Giving something precious, sharing a part of your soul to the one you’ll spend the rest of your life with, and sharing a message of hope for the future. Mydei’s action is a little too familiar with the process of the marriage of Kremnoans. It surprised Y/N, even the white haired man that slowly approached the two from behind, that he stopped on his track to leave some space for the two.

Mydei let go of his hold as he stepped a little further from Y/N. She smiled as she looked down at the piece of gem. Anyone who saw it would know from a glance that this small piece of jewel is precious, for it is a gift from the love of a mother.

The roar of Titankin made the palace walls tremble as she looked back at the building.

She ran towards the palace door once again, before turning to the crown prince of Kremnos.

“Don’t take too long, Mydei. Play chess with me again, alright?

A poet once said these words, conveying the two’s emotion,

“It hurts to be something, it’s worse to be nothing with you.”

The last thing the prince saw was that of the smile of his beloved. Before a tremble ran across the land, dust flew as he fell down with the bridge he stood on, as his companion quickly pulled him away and made an escape. He watched as the palace wall crumbled slowly into dust, eyes widened as he called out to his companion, “Phain-!”

“You know I can’t do such a thing, Mydei.”

The titan of strife had lost his most faithful follower since then on.
