Work Text:

Satoru raises his head from the kitchen counter when he hears his husband’s footsteps coming from the hall. A smile immediately takes place on his face when he notices the matching reindeer headband and ugly Christmas sweater that Suguru is wearing.

“I see that even with these on, you’re still as handsome as ever,” Satoru says amusedly, nodding at Suguru’s outfit when the latter reaches him.

Suguru snorts a laugh, “You’re not too bad yourself.”

Satoru hums and smiles at the easy compliment. He leans in to kiss Suguru’s cheek and his smile widens when he feels Suguru’s cheek move into a smile of his own under his lips. Satoru leans back and starts to turn around to go back to what he was initially doing but he’s stopped by Suguru’s hand grabbing his biceps.

“Satoru, what the hell is this?” Suguru asks, looking at the kitchen counter where Satoru was preparing cookie dough. It honestly looks more like a crime scene than anything else.

Satoru can hear the teasing tone in Suguru’s voice and he huffs. “C’mon, it’s not that bad.”

Suguru raises an eyebrow at him and Satoru rolls his eyes. Suguru snorts and, although Satoru knows there isn’t any heat behind it, he still huffs. “In my defense, I never said I was good at baking them. I just like eating them.”

Suguru breaks into laughter and Satoru suddenly doesn’t care at all that his baking skills are being made fun of. There’s a beaming smile on his face before he even realizes it, the sound of Suguru’s loud and unapologetic laugh being like music to his ears.

“Alright, alright, let me show you,” Suguru says when he’s done laughing. There’s still an amused smile on his face and Satoru thinks he looks absolutely beautiful.

Satoru hums and wordlessly steps to the side, sitting on one of their barstools. He rests his chin on his hand and watches fondly as Suguru saves the dough he almost destroyed. Every now and then, Suguru makes him taste it and he smiles pleasantly when Satoru tells him that it’s good. When Suguru is satisfied with the dough, he retrieves a box from one of their lower kitchen cabinets in which they keep the different molds they have so that he can make several batches of cookies with different shapes.

Satoru keeps smiling happily as he continues to watch him. He’d been more than pleasantly surprised when he first learned that Suguru liked baking. He himself always had a sweet tooth but unfortunately he’s never been really good at satisfying his own sweet cravings. When they started dating, Suguru told him that he was used to making sweet treats to his little sisters, and Satoru had been more than enthralled by the news.

“I feel like I’ve been tricked now,” Suguru says amusedly at one point, effectively taking Satoru out of his thoughts.

“Mh?”

“I’m doing everything and you’re just watching,” Suguru pouts when he turns to look at him. “You’ll never learn how to make them if you don’t practice.”

Satoru gets overwhelmed by the sudden urge to kiss the pout off his husband’s face, but he controls himself. Instead, he hums in thoughts and smirks, “I like watching you, though.”

Suguru huffs and turns his head back to the cookies on the tray in front of him. Satoru grins when he sees the other man’s ears reddening. No matter how long they’ve been together, he’ll never get tired of how easily he can make Suguru blush.

Nevertheless, Satoru does get up from his seat and walks around the counter to join his husband. He slips his arms on each side of Suguru’s body and links his hand against his stomach, effectively hugging him from behind. Suguru hums pleasantly and smiles at the gesture.

Satoru sees the way the back of Suguru’s neck reddens slightly and he smiles in turn before dropping a soft kiss on it. Suguru gasps softly but they both choose to ignore it, choosing to focus on the task at hand instead. Satoru rests his chin on Suguru’s left shoulder and peeks above him to see the cookies on the counter. One tray is already complete and Suguru is currently doing the second one.

“Hmmm,” Satoru hums pleasantly, mouth already salivating even though they’re not even baked yet. “They look really good,” he says genuinely. There are some man-shaped ones, some Christmas tree-shaped ones, some star-shaped ones, and some bell-shaped ones. They all look very yummy, in Satoru’s expert opinion.

Suguru hums and smiles at the praise, “Glad you think so, since you’ve been of such great help making them.” He jokes and chuckles.

Satoru chuckles in turn and dips one of his fingers in the dough. Suguru doesn’t say anything, used to the way Satoru always tastes whatever sweet dough he makes whenever he’s in the mood to bake. But before Satoru can think twice about what he’s doing, he brings his dough-filled finger to Suguru’s cheek instead of his mouth.

Suguru gasps and freezes in his hold. Satoru bursts into laughter. Suguru immediately turns around, Satoru’s grip around his waist having loosened with how much he’s laughing. Satoru immediately takes the bowl of dough from Suguru’s hands but he didn’t have time to see the dough-filled spatula before it made direct contact with his own cheek.

Satoru’s eyes widen in surprise and Suguru throws his head back, laughing out loud. He brings one of his hands to one of Satoru’s shoulders so that he doesn’t fall backward and Satoru can’t help but simply laugh more.

After that, a battle suddenly erupts in their kitchen where both of them try to put as much dough on the other’s face as possible. They’re smiling and giggling and laughing like they’re four-year-old kids and not at all the adult men in their mid-thirties that they actually are. And none of them cares about that in the slightest.

Their kitchen is filled with the combined melody of both their laughs and it’s the purest, happiest sound they’ve ever heard.

They stop when both of their faces are dirty enough and, somehow, they’re both breathless. They’re still grinning widely when they stare at each other, teeth on display and chest moving up and down rapidly. It only takes them one lock of their eyes for both men to wordlessly put the bowl and spatula on the counter before their surge forward at the same time.

Satoru’s hands find Suguru’s waist and the latter doesn’t even have half the mind to complain about how the dough will dirty it. None of them care about anything but each other at that precise moment. Suguru’s hands move to cup Satoru’s face lovingly and when they’re mouths clash together, they’re still smiling widely.

Both men hum and sigh happily in the kiss, delighting in the taste of the other’s lips. Satoru is the first one to part his lips, but Suguru follows just in tow. They deepen their kiss, their tongues dancing around each other in a perfect and practiced choreography.

Satoru has already explored every inch of Suguru’s body, both in and out, and yet, every time he kisses him, it’s like he’s still trying to discover everything –more. It’s like he wants to devour Suguru entirely, and Suguru doesn’t have a single objection.

Suguru feels his head spin and, as if Satoru could read his thoughts, he feels the way his husband’s grip around his waist tightens ever so slightly. A small moan escapes his mouth at the action but it’s barely audible as Satoru makes a wonderful job at swallowing every single noise that passes his lips.

They part after what feels like an eternity but in reality may just be a few minutes. They’re still grinning and panting exactly the way they were before, hearts so full of love that it feels as if they might just burst out of their respective chests. Satoru giggles and leans in to lick some dough on the tip of Suguru’s nose. The latter scrunches his nose and Satoru chuckles at the endearing sight before he leaves a peck on said nose. Suguru hums this time, sounding pleased.

Still smiling fondly, they let go of each other and look at their surroundings, evaluating the damages done in their kitchen. Surprisingly, it’s not as much of a mess as they expected — a huge part of it is probably due to the fact that Satoru had already messed up the kitchen earlier when he tried making the dough. Suguru voices that thought and he snorts a laugh when he hears Satoru gasp offendedly.

“C’mon, let’s get cleaned up a bit,” Suguru says, gesturing at their dirty faces. The feeling of the drying dough wasn’t a pleasant one.

Satoru hums, “We should put the cookies in the oven first.”

Suguru nods, “Good idea.” He turns around and grabs the trays before he places them in the oven. The cookies don’t take a lot of time to bake so they should be almost ready by the time they’ll be back. Once this is done, Suguru starts to make his way to the bathroom but he stops in his tracks when he doesn’t hear Satoru following him. “Satoru? You’re not coming?”

“You can go ahead, I’ll clean this first.” Satoru replies, gesturing to their kitchen counter.

“Oh, I can help then,” Suguru replies, already making his way back to him.

“Nuh uh,” Satoru tuts, blocking the way for Suguru to access the counter.

Suguru chuckles, “What are you doing?” He asks, tilting his head to the side amusedly.

Satoru simply grins at him. “You baked, I clean. Sit your pretty ass on the stool.”

Suguru raises a curious eyebrow at him but does as he’s told anyway. He smirks as he happily takes a seat at the counter, resting his chin in his hand in the exact same way Satoru did just before when he was the one watching him. Satoru seems to register it because he laughs softly. Suguru simply smiles in return.

The next minutes are spent in relative silence, save for the tune that Satoru is humming as he cleans the kitchen as well as does the dishes. Suguru watches him fondly and occasionally hums appreciatively, as if praising his husband for his actions. He definitely doesn’t miss the way Satoru preens at it and it makes Suguru huff a small laugh every time.

“All done!” Satoru exclaims proudly a few moments later. Suguru grins at him and gets up from the stool, stretching his arm. Satoru grabs his hand all too happily and they both make their way to the bathroom so as to finally clean their faces.

“You didn’t put any in my hair!” Suguru says, almost in awe, after he’s done washing his hands and properly takes a look at himself in their big bathroom mirror.

Satoru looks at him through the mirror and shrugs, “You washed them not even two hours ago.” He replies simply.

Suguru smiles fondly at him and he feels his heart flutter at the small gesture that he’s sure Satoru did completely mindlessly. He ties his hair in a bun so that no strand comes in front of his face as he cleans it and removes the reindeer headband from the top of his head. He doesn’t miss the amused smile on Satoru’s face at the action and he can’t help but giggle a bit. The matching Christmas headbands had been Satoru’s idea, of course.

“We should remove the sweaters, too,” Satoru says while Suguru brings water to his face. “I put dough on yours when I held you earlier, and mine is kinda itchy.”

Suguru hums in agreement, “Give me one of your big comfy hoodies, then.”

Satoru chuckles, “Yes sir,” he replies. Suguru smiles at the amused tone used and his smile only widens when he hears Satoru’s footsteps leave the bathroom, surely on his way to their dressing room to grab said piece of clothing.

A few moments later, Suguru is done with cleaning his face. He carefully removes his Christmas sweater so as to not put any of the dried dough on his hair and sighs contentedly when he’s out of it, although now that he’s just in a tank top, he feels a bit cold. He drops the sweater in their laundry basket and casually unties his hair before he very promptly jumps out of his skin when he meets Satoru’s eyes through the mirror.

Satoru bursts out laughing behind him where he’s leaning against the doorframe. “Since when are you here?! I didn’t even hear you!” Suguru screeches, facing heating up in embarrassment at his own reaction.

“I was admiring the view,” Satoru replies suggestively before winking obnoxiously.

Suguru feels his cheeks heat up some more but he ignores them on purpose and walks to Satoru to retrieve the hoodie in his husband’s hand. He puts it on and kisses Satoru’s cheek when the latter pouts childishly at the fact that Suguru is now covered.

“C’mon,” Suguru says, stretching his hand the same way he did earlier. Satoru takes it without any complaint and they both make their way back to the living room. Suguru gasps as soon as his eyes catch the huge snowstorm through their patio door. “Satoru, look!” He exclaims, half-scared, half-amazed by the sight.

Satoru turns his head to where Suguru points and gasps in turn. The snowstorm started early this morning when they weren’t even awake yet but it had calmed down a few hours ago. It seemed to be even worse than this morning now, though. Thankfully it’s the weekend and they don’t have anywhere to go. Suguru wouldn’t feel safe knowing Satoru was outside somewhere with this weather.

The ringing of the oven timer startles them both and they laugh softly at their twin reactions. “Come on,” Satoru says fondly as he leads Suguru to the kitchen.

Satoru gets the cookies out of the oven and leaves them on the counter to cool down for a bit. “Let’s make drinks and then we’ll bring them and the cookies to the coffee table. We can lay on the couch and watch the snowstorm, or a movie.”

Suguru smiles, that sounds like a wonderful idea. Satoru lightened their open fire in the living room earlier today so the temperature in the room is warm, but he’s always loved sitting by the fireside on the couch. And it’s always ten times better when he’s cuddling with Satoru while doing it.

“Just make me a coffee with the machine, I’ll prepare your overly-sweet drink,” Suguru says amusedly as he walks to the fridge to retrieve the ingredients he needs.

Satoru snorts a laugh but does as he’s told. He then gets a plate out of a cabinet and puts several cookies in it, humming pleasantly at the delicious smell they have. Suguru is done with his drink in no time and both men make their way to the living room, placing their drinks and plate on the coffee table.

Satoru takes a seat first on the couch and reflexively opens his arm once he’s comfortable. And Suguru doesn’t waste a single second before sitting down next to him, snuggling to his side. Satoru chuckles at his behavior but does nothing to stop him, in fact, he lowers his arm around Suguru’s body and brings him impossibly closer. Suguru sighs pleasantly at the action.

When both men have found a comfortable position, Suguru drapes a blanket over them both. Satoru smiles and kisses the top of his head. Suguru smiles in turn, burying his face in his husband’s chest happily.

“I love you,” Satoru says, voice incredibly soft.

Suguru’s smile only widens. “I love you, too,” he replies, equally soft.

Satoru doesn’t reply, but Suguru feels the way the other man tightens his grip around him ever so slightly. He sighs contentedly once more and allows himself to close his eyes for a bit. It’s strange, but the snowstorm brings him a sort of comfort and internal peace. As he’s surrounded by the smell of freshly baked cookies, of coffee and milkshake, and of Satoru, Suguru finds himself dozing off.

Satoru smiles as he watches him, an expression that can only be described as enamored on his face. He caresses Suguru’s head and passes his fingers through his hair in a repeated motion that he knows is soothing to him.

By the time Suguru wakes up from his nap, about an hour later, Satoru’s entire arm is hurting but he hasn’t stopped his movements once.
