Work Text:
The nights in Gardenview were the quietest, which was a comfort for the toons, but it was also the biggest discomfort for Looey, the only toon awake on that starry night.
His gaze was jumping from star to star, he wasn't sleepy enough to go to sleep, his mind was racing too much because of his new arrival there.
Anxiety and a little fear were keeping him awake, thoughts that maybe he wouldn't fit in there without the rest of his troupe, or that they wouldn't have fun with his antics... He really needed to clear his mind of all that, so he decided not to disturb Astro by asking him to help him sleep and went for a less noisy solution, watching the stars in silence.
Even though he still had all that on his mind, at least now he could organize his thoughts better, he was even able to feel a little sleep coming on, but he was awakened from his own little world when a familiar voice called him.
- Looey! What are you doing awake at this hour? And out here? - Asked Goob, with a tired face, but still full of curiosity, with one of his arms lazily lifting off the ground and scratching one of his eyes.
A few seconds of silence passed, not even the balloon remembered what he was doing there, or if he didn't want to tell the fluffy toon and end up worrying him.
- ...I don't know, I just can't sleep, I guess. - He looked at the stars again, expecting the other to leave him, as the others always does, but he was taken by surprise when he realized that the other sat down next to him, wrapping his arms around his body and accompanying him in the observation of the stars.
- I can't sleep either... I didn't want to bother Scraps by asking her to sleep with me, so I came to find something to do... - Goob's heavy eyes sometimes looked at Looey, but they remained up in the sky. He really wanted to hug Looey, but he didn't want to become a nuisance, like he had earlier with his introduction being a strong hug that almost burst the colorful balloon.
Minutes passed with them in silence, a company that for both of them made that night quite comfortable, even though Looey still had this lump in his throat, this desire to at least ask the other what he thought of him, without realizing it he ended up letting slip one of those doubts that he intended to leave as just an empty thought.
- ...Goob, do you think they'll like me? - He didn't expect him to answer him, or if he did, he would mention the cheesy things that are always said when a question like that is asked, whoever, that was not the case when he realized the fluffy one spent a few minutes thinking about it, finding an honest answer.
- Look... If I already liked you the first time I saw you, I'm sure others already like you! It may not seem that much at first, but that's because they don't know you completely yet to have a clear opinion about you. - The balloon had to admit that he expected Goob not to be completely sure of the things he was saying, but that was the kindest, and even wisest thing he had ever heard anyone say, especially about himself.
Looey's words were eaten, more thoughts invaded his head at that moment, his gaze diverted from the stars and fell on Goob, observing him with affection, every detail of his cute and sleepy face. Slightly awkward, his head relaxed on his shoulder, trying to show without words his gratitude, thanking him for the kind words that were said, and even risking a smile while closing his eyes.
Goob didn't stop him from doing it, even accompanying him with his own head resting on his, finding comfort in that pose... That was good, that moment was good, they were fine.
- Can I hug you? - The fluffy one dared to ask, eliciting a small giggle from the balloon next to him.
- Just don't hug me as tightly as you did earlier today...
