Chapter Text
As the professor announces the end of class, I can hear multiple sighs of relief around me. I pick up my things and start heading out of the classroom. Thankfully, That was my last class of the day. I really can't wait to get home.
On my way out, I come across my friend, Lewis, in the hallway.
"Hey Lewis, how were your classes today? "
"They were HELL! Hell I tell you. Seriously! I am debating dropping half my classes."
"We just started the semester. I mean, I feel you but, dude."
"Yeah yeah, Anyways, Are you free tonight? Paul and I are hanging out. "
"Aw, No I can't. I have my job remember? Though it would be nice to catch up with Paul... Maybe next time. "
"Maybe, Well, See you tomorrow then. "
And with that short conversation, we both walk away, Lewis always likes to stay another half an hour after classes to help out in cleaning campus. I open the Exit door, and stark walking out.
I haven't been going out with my friends in a while... Maybe I can take a vacation and try to catch up.

An alarm rings loudly begrudgingly waking up the college student from his afternoon nap, The student reaches out for his phone and tries to press snooze, But he drops his phone. He miserably gets out of bed to pick up his phone and turn off his alarm. After that, He goes to the bathroom to wash up, After having some cold water splashed onto his face, Waking him up significantly. He goes back to his room, Opens his closet. Takes a few seconds to pull out his uniform. He takes notice that this thing needs to be ironed, But not that much. He's too lazy to right now. Surely no one will notice, It isn't terrible.
After he had gotten everything ready, He opens the door to his house and starts walking towards his workplace.
It's not a long walk by any chance. In fact, It's quite short.
A 6 minute walk give or take.
He walks up to the door of the establishment, And he opens it- and everything suddenly starts fading to black.

The college student opens his eyes, he feels weird. He looks around. He appears to be in a.. Black room. He continues to look around. There is a throne in the middle of the room with a quite handsome young man sitting there. He looks familiar, But The student was sure he has never met nor seen him before.
The young man pulls out a file from.. somewhere... And starts flipping through it.
"Uh, sir... Do you know where this is?"
The young man looks up, A small thin smile on his face
"I do know where this is." He says in a matter of factly voice.
He doesn't elaborate and goes back to reading through the file.
The student, Very confused. Begins looking around his surroundings again, Still a pitch black room. At the center of it is the young man sitting on the throne.
Blonde hair, Blue eyes, Pretty regul-
The young man snorted. "In 2nd grade, After that teacher tried to punish you for-"
"WAIT WAIT, Who are you??"
"I am.. " The young man pauses. "Happy man"
"...Happy man?"
"Yes Jeff"
'Okkkaayyyy... I am definitely dreaming' Jeff thought.
"Well, I guess we should get on with it. Your life is not that interesting."
"T-thank you..?"
"How on earth did you see that as a compliment? Don't answer that."
"..."
"Okay, Let's see. Jeffrey Dawkins, 19 years of age. Cause of death... Being crushed by a door of The Wart™, a local burger shop he wor-"
"Wait what?!"
"Don't interrupt me." 'Happy man' said, There wasn't really any kind of anger behind it. But it was firm.
"This a really weird dream.. " Jeff mumbled, He never has dreams like, well, This.
'Happy man' seemed to perk up at his comment, That thin smile turning into a grin.
"You think you're dreaming?"
"Y-yes?"
"Well, You aren't."
"Yes, I am."
'Happy man' raised and eyebrow. "Are you going through, What do you guys call it now.. The five stages of grief? Are you in denial?"
Jeff scoffed, he isn't in denial! He's not dead, plain and simple. He's just gonna wake up any minute now and this will all be over.
'Happy man' handed him the file that he has been reading since the start of their interaction.
Jeff takes it, He starts reading the front, His full name, a not very flattering image of him, His age, His supposed cause of death, and a small summary of his life until this point.
"So, Basically you died. Now I get to judge and send you to either the rest or hell, Or whatever version of those you know. I judge you based on your actions..... Supposedly."
"Supposedly?"
"So, where do you want to go?"
Jeff decided to play along until he wakes up from this very weird not-quite-nightmare
"I want to go to heaven of cour- Wait, I get to choose?"
"No, you don't. I am just curious"
"..."
"Alright, I am bored. Let's see. Answer this question and I will send you to heaven- rest whatever."
"O-okay."
"What is.." A pause. "The best anime ever? There IS a correct answer."
"What kind if question is that??!"
"That's not the correct answer."
"F-Fine. Uhm... Bleach?"
"That's not the correct answer either but I will allow it."
"So I get to go to heaven?"
"No, I will ask you another question."
"You're annoying."
'Happy man' snorts, then bursts out laughing
"That's bold, Saying that to the person who decides your after life."
Jeff scoffs, Again.
"Still think this is a dream huh?" 'Happy man' says voice still even if his giggles bleed through them
"It is."
"Is it?"
"Yes! It is!"
"Then why am I here? Silly me!" 'Happy man' says before disappearing into thin air. Leaving Jeff standing in the void.
Jeff blinks a few times, He then tries to pinch his himself, He- okay, What was that? He felt it, But it wasn't.. Painful.
He looks around, Still... The pitch black void. A few minutes pass (he thinks) he is just in pure silence in a pitch black room
"Oh my god I am dead." Jeff says, Voice low.
He breaks down crying.

Around half an hour later(?) Jeff isn't sure. He had his mental breakdown and now he is.. unsure. What is going to happen to him? Is he just stuck in this void for the rest of eternity?? He doesn't want that. He wants to be able to see his friends and family, Maybe watch over them. He doesn't want to be stuck in some room with a glorified chair for the rest of his existence.
"Can you please come back??" Jeff said, sound kind of desperate.
Right after he said that though, 'Happy man' appeared.
"Why didn't you say that sooner!"
"I- I am sorry I called you annoying pleasedonotsendmetohel-"
"Hold it. I don't care."
"Where- were you? This entire time.."
"Oh, I never left."
"...so-"
"Yes."
"Can, Can I go to heaven?? Pleas-e?"
"Well, It looks like I can't gauge any sort of fun out of you anymore so..." 'Happy man' gets the same file again, and skims through it.
"You didn't really get to do much. Died a month before your 20th birthday. Mostly just ate and slept.. "
"I studied too.. " Jeff says, Lowly.
'Happy man' pauses, he goes back a page in the file.
"You studied, 4 percent of your life. You call that studying?? I have met academics who have studied for most of their lives, Who have helped humanity grow and evolve to what it is now, I have se-"
"Am I getting a lecture in death???"
"..."
"..."
"Yes, Yes you are. "
"..."
"Aw for goodness sake, You are boring. No over the top reaction or anything? You know I am mostly stuck here talking to you lot"
"I mean, I just died I do no-"
"So did everyone else, You are not special."
"..."
"Nothing? Ugh fine. You get to go to rest- heaven or whatever."
After 'happy man' said, Jeff suddenly found himself in a house he doesn't recognize. He looks around.
"G-grandma??"
"Oh, Hello! You finally made it. It gets lonely here without any other family members to keep me company.."
"....It's good to see you too!"
