Iduna sat in the window seat in the upstairs corridor, watching rain drops make their way down the glass. Agnarr was in a meeting with a trusted advisor, and Elsa had told her she wished to be alone. Anna would often sleep in on mornings like this, so she would wait a bit before checking on her.
Suddenly, from the bottom of the stairs, she heard some banging, and then recognized Anna’s voice.
“Help! I’m trapped!”
Iduna ran down the stairs, finding her daughter sitting safely on the bottom step, but one of her dolls was wedged in between the balusters.
Iduna took a moment to catch her breath. Anna was paying no attention.
“Good morning, Anna,” she said.
Anna looked up, with a very serious frown.
“Did she get stuck?” Iduna asked.
“No, Mama, she’s been locked in the dungeon,” Anna declared, as if it should have been obvious.
“Oh, my,” Iduna replied, doing her best to match her daughter’s serious demeanor. “Should we try to get her out?”
Anna sat thoughtfully for a moment, then leaned in close to the doll. She stood up.
“She needs to stay there,” Anna declared.
“What did she do?” Iduna asked.
“She knows what she did.”
