Summary
Now that Medic's finally mastered doing his own astral projection, he and Heavy have quite a bit of fun with it. The fact that it might be relevant to helping Medic solve the problem of getting spells to work the same as the Medigun is an unexpected but very delightful side effect. So Medic does some observing on the astral plane, and recruits some teammates in assisting his research. Thankfully Pyro knows a lot more about the different layers of reality than the nascent wizard, and is happy to help! As their research bears fruit, Medic might finally be on the verge of figuring out how to replicate the Medigun's effects! And also figuring out how the hell the thing works in the first place.
(This started as a one-shot but then it kinda spiralled and now it's got chapters so let's goooooooooooo lol)
