For all of Carla’s life, she only knew flaws. Flaws in herself, flaws in others. No one is flawless, she knew that from a young age, when Charles commented on the way she dressed.
For her whole life, her looks were everything. The number of times she looked into the mirror, it was almost like a best friend to her. The weighing scale accompanied her journey to her teens. The countless times she had stared at the display section of a store, comparing herself to the mannequin.
Why am I like this?
Carla has gotten numb to the sensation of starving. The grumbling sounds and the pain in her stomach didn’t make her feel much anymore. She wears baggy clothes to hide her figure, and disguises herself so she could spare everyone the scare of seeing her ugly face. Pants were a way of protecting her heart. It was like a shield to protect this vulnerable form of hers, for if someone ever comments on the way she looks, she’ll break down.
Maybe god sent her a blessing for enduring for so long. In her life, came an angel, by the name of Neelam. Carla swore that Neelam could win every beauty contest ever held, and has the kindest heart she ever felt.
The feeling of drowning in an endless ocean was gone. Neelam pulled her out of that deep dark place and gave her the light. Like a fly, Carla was attracted to the light, whether it hurt her or not.
Carla knew Neelam was the one.
But did Neelam feel the same?
