Chapter 1: Prologue: Orion's Arm

Chapter Text

Y/N ORION STOLE THINGS no one would miss, like time, pennies and sleep. She walked through the streets in worn out shoes and cheap coats, smelling like smoke and cologne, and slipping hands into pockets.

No last name, just y/n Orion. Such a horrible name she thought it was. Being named after a star sounds cool, but she hated stars. Everyone told her she would find meaning in them, that she just had to follow and she would see why.

She felt raw, skinless even. She didn't have an outline, she didn't even have a full name. The only thing she had was the oddly good ability of stealing.

She was afraid to give, so she took.

Under her bed in the old orphanage she lives in was a box full of things, things she didn't need. Lip glosses, mascara, earrings, pins, keychains.
She reached into her pocket to feel a bag of coins just as someone entered the room, a scent of cologne she knew very well hit her, she had stolen it for him herself.

Her gaze shifted to a glass cup, seeing the reflection of familiar black hair and handsome features.

The boy sat down on her bed as she simply hummed in acknowledgment, without glancing back at him.

"y/n, what do you know about magic?" he asked, his tone as empty as ever.

y/n turned around facing him directly.

"in theory?"

"in practice"

The girl took a step swiftly, just like she always moved. [e/c] clashing with red ones before they disappeared. The boy didn't even flinch when dark smoke appeared beside him with the girl he was staring at half a second ago.

"you're amazing, y/n. you've always had abilities greater than mine"

"i'm aware, Riddle"

Tom Riddle also had a box under his bed, which was filled with letters, beautiful love poems written in cursive with red wax seals, all directed to the girl with no last name.
