I stand by the cashier, cancelling an order, when someone in a suit stands before me.
"Hot latte with four sugar," he says.
I enter the order without looking at the customer.
As I am done entering the order, I realise that the order sounds strangely familiar. I raise my head and offer a sweet smile to the customer, "Anything else, sir?"
My whole thought process stops when I recognise the person before me.
"You," I mumble.
"Sweetheart, it took you so long to look at me," says the man with a scar near his lips.
Additional details to understand the universe - Across Time
A universe where, in addition to normal human beings, Alphas and Omegas exist.
ALPHA: Considered as a high rank and would get everyone's attention and respect - 2% of the popularity.
BETA: Normal people - 80% of the popularity.
OMEGA: Considered as the lowest rank - 18% of the popularity.
It's cliche :) As usual, Omegas aren't given many opportunities because they are omegas, and alphas are the most respected ones.
Since society has gone through changes, some omegas have a chance of success. Most only go until high school, but a few selected omegas get the opportunity to pursue higher studies and even open businesses. Sometimes, it happens due to the influence of an alpha who would support them, or they can simply apply for it and sign contracts to give half their income to the government when they get a job.
So, most omegas end up with alphas without pursuing higher studies. Even if they get a job or start a business, they get treated differently because of societal beliefs.
These are the different theories in this story. I will put more details about this universe below in italics. But they are the usual alpha-omega things. (if you already know those, you don't have to read them)
Alphas and omegas have mates in their lifetime. They connect through desire and emotions, and the alphas can mark their omegas as theirs by biting their nape (this is like the werewolf world in the human world type of thing).
Omegas go through heat every month, and they are most fertile at that time. They desire to be with their alpha, and they emit a sweet scent. However, it could also attract other alphas in the area, which is why they need to stay indoors in a comfortable space. During the heat, alphas take care of their omegas mentally and physically, which is also the time for them to mate and have kids.
Male pregnancy happens.
I won't include rut in this story. It's something similar to heat that alphas go through. I don't like it.
