Starry Night [Fluffy February Day 5]

Summary:

Harry and his experiences with Draco's (the constellation and the Malfoy)

Work Text:

When Harry was ten years old, he spent any time he could find looking at the stars. His favorite constellation was always ‘Draco’, finding it by looking parallel to the Big Dipper. It was always his favorite because he liked the mythos of the dragon guarding the golden apples of the Hesperides. He was a little boy, it was impossible not to be drawn towards fantasy stories about dragons, after all.

When Harry was eleven, he met a boy named Draco who was a star in his own right; flashy, full of energy, and impossible to get close to. Not that eleven-year-old Harry had ever wanted to. The boy named Draco never managed to ruin the constellation for him, though, and Harry still looked for it when he got the chance.

Now, Harry is twenty-five. It’s been over a decade since then, but the boy and the constellation—in tandem—mean more to him now than ever. First, they became unlikely friends after the war, and shortly after that they became unlikely lovers. At twenty-five years old, Harry and Draco exchange wedding rings. Draco’s, of course, has the ‘Draco’ constellation engraved on the inside. Harry’s has the Big Dipper, because the ring symbolizes a promise to always be one anothers unlikely home, and the Big Dipper has always been his guideline to Draco. His arrow home.
