Chapter Text
The flickering candlelight casted dancing shadows across the worn walls of a study, vividly illuminating the intricate carvings of a wooden desk. An elderly figure sat hunched over a parchment, his long, flowing silver beard framing his face. Half-moon spectacles perched on his nose, his eyes filled with wisdom and weariness.
Dumbledore dipped his quill into the inkwell, his thoughts a whirlwind of uncertainty. He was writing a letter to an old friend, Hiruzen Sarutobi, a man he had known since their youth. The recent war in the Leaf had taken a toll on Hiruzen, and Dumbledore couldn't help but feel a sense of dread as he considered the possibility of a brewing conflict.
"I'm sorry to trouble you with this," he murmured, his booming voice barely audible. Despite his reluctance, he knew he had to reach out. The stakes were too high, and he needed his friend's guidance.
Just as Dumbledore finished writing, his phoenix, Fawkes, landed on his desk. The bird took the letter in its beak and stretched its wing, as if giving the old man reassurance. Fawkes waddled towards the window, its vibrant plumage contrasting against the washed out hue of the study. With a final glance at the departing messenger, Dumbledore returned to his thoughts, his mind already racing with the challenges that lay ahead.
Kakashi had enough, on one hand he was grateful for the ANBU missions to keep his mind busy, and to stay away from the Leaf. And avoid people. On another hand he had to admit, they were working him to the bone. So he was quite conflicted to hear a long term mission, one part of him know it will do his body some good, the other protests.
This mission however is definitely one he didn't want to do.
As Kakashi walked into Lord Third's office, he saw that Minato-sensei and Katori were already there. The latter looked bored out of her mind and ready to end herself with that dead look in her eyes.
"Good, you are all here," the Third Hokage said, "Now, you three shall be going to a wizarding world in England, the one I told you about Minato, you will assist Albus Dumbledore, an old friend of mine, Understood?"
"...Wizards?" Kakashi asked, surprised enough to respond rudely. Katori also looked up, her turquoise eyes narrowed.
"Minato will inform you later, now listen. This," The Third said as he held up a can. "Will teleport you to where you need to be, Katori and Kakashi, you two will be acting as 2 students that will participate in a tournament from our "magic" school. Minato, you shall have a role assigned to you later, now one hour later, you all must be touching the can in order to teleport. I wish you all the best of luck."
He gave the three of them a small smile, one only Minato returned.
"Well this certainly won't be fun." Kakashi muttered as he walked with his bag to where he will be meeting up to teleport away. Reading the thick scroll of information that the Third had given each of them about the wizarding world.
'I wonder why the Hokage seemed so rushed, I thought the situation with the other villages were better now? This, in lack of better words, will be so troublesome' He thought trying to find motivation that simply was not there, as he walked into the familiar training grounds. 'But more importantly...Assigning Tori such a mission is....unexpected.
Minato and Katori were already there and dressed in clothes to easier match with the wizarding world. The girl was sitting on top of a tree branch, mindlessly ripping leaves in her hands from nearby, upon noticing Kakashi she stood up and proceeded to stretch herself like a cat after a nap. Surprised Katori was actually early for once, he dropped his things and began to put his clothes over some slim and stretchable wear. At least there were quite a lot of places to hide weapons in these foreign clothes.
He suddenly felt more tired as he remembered that one time Katori casually strolled into Anbu HQ in what seems to be pajamas splattered with blood. Announcing that she was done with her S-ranked mission and that she's going back to bed.
"Are we going with disguises" He asked Katori, glancing at her I-need-more-sleep face as she gracefully leaped down from the tree. She gave a lazy shake of her head.
Katori was a disguise master is some way, she can transform into almost any living creature and also transform others to an extent. Hence why she is nicknamed the "shapeshifter". She said it was a clan thing, like the Sharingan was. No one knew anything about it.
"Why bother?"
"Not going to use the chance to make yourself prettier?" Kakashi said off-handley checking his own equipment.
"And make you look like a dog next to me? I'm not that mean." She hums back, tilting her head at him.
"Oh really? You-"
"Stop fighting," Minato sighed and interrupted, "it is almost time to go."
Katori shifted her head back offering a sly grin at Kakashi, then turned to Minato, her snow-white hair fluttering after her.
"We will be arriving at a forest, then walking to a stadium to watch a Quidditch match, a popular game in the wizarding world." Minato informed them.
'Right I remember reading this.' Kakashi noted.
Katori gave him a look that said 'Why are we going to watch a game match?'
"The Potter boy is there," Minato said, "also-wait it's happening."
The old tin can was glowing blue, pulsing as if it was about to disappear. They all placed their fingers on as instructed, and in a few seconds, Kakashi's vision disappeared in a whirl of colours as he felt something like a hook pulling him onwards.
Katori won't admit it but she did almost fall as they landed in a forest, how disappointed her old masters would be. She pushed that thought out of her head, never mind that now, there was more important business. Katori quickly checked out the forest, nothing seemed to be in danger from what she could see, and she was pretty sure the three of them could deal with a few wizards.
Glancing back at Kakashi, who had one hand on an old spruce tree, looking like he was dragged from hell and back, now this was important.
"How is the prodigy boy doing?" Katori hummed, slipping on her English-Japanese translator ring.
"Just continue on with the mission." Kakashi coughed, pushing himself off the tree sending a glare at her.
"Well...Just so you know, I offer great therapy." She is determined that if she was going to be trapped with the Leaf, she would raise hell.
Katori has a special kekkei genkai, or her clan does at least, Kakashi wasn't really informed on the matter. Apparently the village has been refusing to let Katori go due to this "special ability" her Nameless (it's known as Nameless clan to shinobi) clan possessed; details were all classified information. According to what he discovered, a team of shinobi from Kohona "stumbled upon" Katori, one of the few now known member of the hidden clan. Honesty in his opinion they only reason clan members were so rare was because, unlike others, Nameless doesn't seek to boast their fame and power. Perhaps thats why Katori doesn't have a last name? Or is the Nameless clan actually "nameless" ?
Kakashi wasn't sure about Katori's thoughts on her "kidnapping" or methods used to obtain information form her.
"Please don't drag me deeper into your morals." Kakashi deadpanned, dragging his eyes away from her glaze.
"Eh~ How boring."
"Let's go."
Katori sighed, her face quickly falling down into her emotionless state, all the energy around her gone at once. Kakashi was quiet as he wordlessly pulled Katori along to follow Minato further into the forest towards the sounds of cheering.
Elsewhere, a certain boy was getting ready to watch his first ever official Quidditch match.
