Orbs After Midnight

Summary:

Schezo has a very, very boring day

Notes:

Hi there!! Welcome to the first chapter of a fanfic I started writing as a joke. I am following a set of rules that I made up so bear that in mind, and I also wrote this on my school Chromebook. (Sorry in advance that it is just one long paragraph um. That was unfortunately one of the rules.) Another one of the rules was no planning ahead, and no editing, so that might explain some things about this work to those who plan on reading it.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Schezo's very boring afternoon

Chapter Text

Today was slow, after all Schezo had just been cooped up inside his cave most of the day. Of course, he was training, but it just wasn’t the same. It had been raining. If he went out in that weather he’d catch a cold! And that is in no way a fit condition for a dark mage! So as a result Schezo spent the whole day rotating between the same 3 activities. Honing his spells practicing bladework and baking. He woke up and baked some pastries for breakfast, for a few hours after that he spent time on precision shots for his spells. When it came time for lunch the mage made a quiche, upon finishing the meal he went straight back to work, working on his form and technique for his bladework. He spent time slashing small boulders and seeing if he could break them in specific ways. A long time had passed when he saw the sun had set and that is when he decided it would be best to make something for dinner. The mage decided on a fruit tart, so he gathered the ingredients and made a fruit tart for himself to eat. It was a bit larger than your average tart but again, he has been training non-stop for a few hours by now, surely he must be absolutely starved. This tart was no match for him! And thus soon after its creation came its end. This didn’t upset Schezo baked goods were made to be eaten. That is the goal of baking things after all. After dinner came a sort of restlessness, it was still raining and thus he couldn’t go out. Well he had two options either stay in and find something to do, or go out and get wet. He decided to stay in; as much as braving the elements really doesn’t bother him he preferred to stay dry. Though he opted for staying in finding something to do would prove much more of a challenge than he originally thought. First he tried to hone his spells again but a few minutes in he grew irritated and gave up. Practicing the same thing for hours on end most of the day will have that effect. Next he tried to attempt dancing, it’s not something he tries to or even really wants to do frequently but it’s better than sitting around and doing nothing again. The Mage set down his sword and took off his cloak; he rested these items on a nearby rock. He took a long and drawn out breath and began to step around gracefully and eloquently, everything seemed to be going very well. That was until he tripped over a small rock and fell on his back. Schezo huffed in irritation. By this time he just decided to stay on the ground in spite he angrily stared at the crystals hanging from the ceiling. Even though he was agitated the sight of the crystals seemed to calm him down. They were sparkling with shades of greens and blues aglow from the magical energy held within them. Soon thereafter Schezo scoffed and rolled over so he could sit up he went to go grab his cloak and sword. He finally gave in and decided it would be better to brave the elements instead of staying in and just growing more and more restless. The rain was pouring pelting down like marbles falling from the sky. It was nothing that Schezo couldn’t handle of course but nonetheless he was agitated by the pouring rain. Schezo wandered around aimlessly that was of course until he decided to track down Arle. Tracking down Arle is something that Schezo did all the time so perhaps this was the activity that was going to stray him from his seemingly infinite boredom. Schezo searched all the places that which where he assumed he might find Arle. First he walked down the regular path through the woods, the mud that was fully covering all of the path made it much harder to traverse but Schezo persisted, he did not find Arle. Next Schezo checked the marketplace surely there he would find Arle that’s where she goes to acquire all of her ingredients for curry, but again Schezo did not find Arle. By now Schezo was wondering where Arle could possibly be Arle was not in any of her most frequented places. Where else was there to check? It was in this moment that Schezo somehow managed to forget that he is not an ordinary person and much unlike any ordinary persons Schezo lives in a cave. Arle however does not. And Schezo in his poor memory skills neglected to also remember the fact that on such a rainy day like now, most normal people would be hulled up inside their houses waiting for the rain to clear up before setting foot outside again. It wouldn’t be until one soggy wet searching hour later that Schezo would realize his own stupidity and defeatedly attempt to make his way back to the cave in which he resides.
