Work Text:

"Come on, Vicks, it's my car." Jay reached over to pull the steering wheel away from her but she swatted his hand away.
"No, you're drunk. I'm not about to let you drive." He tried again, but she simply slapped his hand once more.
"Just pull over, I wanna drive." She rolled her eyes and kept going, ignoring his comment entirely. The man-child sitting in the passenger seat groaned, mumbling incoherently to himself as he crossed his arms and stared out the window. Vicky glared at the road in front of her, half-debating dropping him off on the side of the road for making her take him home. To be fair, she could have just let him drive himself, but then he would have ended up in a morgue before morning hit. So here she was, ubering his drunk ass home while he sulked in the seat next to her, filling his old car with the scent of alcohol. They drove for another ten minutes in tense silence, tall trees on both sides of the thin road caging them in before Jay tried again.
"I swear Vicky, I'm not even that drunk. Just pull over." His words slurred together, giving away the fact he was lying. He reached over again, this time his hand wrapping around the steering wheel and tugging harshly to the side. Vicky pulled it in the opposite direction, the car moving into the middle of the road.
"Get your hand off the wheel." She said firmly, but when he didn't let go she glanced over at him. His face was barely visible, with only the headlights casting some light back onto him. She glanced back at the road, barely making it around a curve with his hand on the wheel. Even in the dim light, she could see his knuckles turning white with how tight he held on. She grabbed his wrist. "I'm serious, Jay. Let go."
"No, pull over. Now!" He shouted and pulled harshly as if to punctuate his point.
"Get your hands off the fucking wheel!" She screamed as the car swerved once again. There was a flash of movement in front of the car before they barreled into something. She slammed on the bakes and went diving into the ditch, but it was too late. After what felt like hours of staring at the lifeless body lying crumpled on the windshield, she spoke first, her voice barely a whisper. "What the hell did you do?"
