After a series of incredibly long flights from Alola to Galar, girlfriends Lillie and Selene were about as jet-lagged as could be. Knowing they had a long week of investigation ahead of them, they chose to spend their first night in the region on a date. Their hands would be quite full trying to chase leads, especially when the Ultra Beast sightings were mere rumors.
The couple checked into a Budew Drop Inn not far from Wyndon City airport where they arrived, then set out to find a cozy spot for their date and get some sightseeing in while they could. They snapped pictures of the Galar Hurricane-- though neither was particularly interested in riding an observation wheel of that size after the flights they’ve been on-- and admired the Rose of the Rondelands and its clock tower. The Battle Tower was one attraction the pair decided they didn’t need to see; a fancy-schmancy high-tech building wasn’t exactly on their list of experiences to re-live. Instead, they hoped their search wouldn’t lead them there and continued on. Plus, it wasn’t a tree, which Selene claimed “was the best part of battling.” Lillie was fairly certain her girlfriend would have tried to challenge the Battle Legends no matter where they set up, given their connection to her home country.
After a meal in the city’s shopping district, the couple found themselves walking the nighttime streets, simply enjoying each other’s company. Their feet seemed to have a mind of their own until they finally sat down under the light of the stadium. There didn’t appear to be any battles that particular night, so the girls enjoyed a quiet moment, gazing upon their lover’s face under the rosy lights. Lillie was glad, not only to be here with her beloved, but also that the light obscured her own profuse blushing. She could feel how warm her face had become. Wordlessly, the two leaned in for a gentle kiss. As they came apart, she noticed Selene’s eyes wandering. She explained, “There’s a girl over there who kind of looks like Gladion.” She took a peek for herself.
Truth be told, she really didn’t. Their facial structures were entirely different. But Lillie supposed she was missing the forest for the trees, since this girl wore a studded leather jacket and had some of her hair buzzed. That must have been enough for her darling to draw a comparison. She just laughed and rested her head on her lover’s shoulder. “I guess it’s time we turn in for the night, isn’t it,” Selene asked. She only got a murmur in response, so she slowly stood up and brought her girlfriend to her feet. Taking her hand, she led them back to their hotel.
“Aw, aren’t they cute?” Gloria pointed to a female couple walking hand-in-hand.
Marnie thought for a moment. “Yeah, but you’d better not be trying to convince me to wear that,” she said, referring to the blonde’s white sundress. “I have a certain way I like lookin’.”
“And that’s just what I love about you, my little Rookidee,” Gloria responded, accentuating it with a peck on her lover’s cheek.
