Notes:

Hey! How are you? If you don't know me, I'm Moni or captainredfield and I post Nivanfield stories on my main profile, but every now and then I think of stories with other Resident Evil pairs, which is the case here. I see this story a lot on my feed and I thought: who could fit into a situation like this? So I simply wrote it with Jake and Sherry and the result is right below. If it really turns out well, who knows, maybe I'll come back and write more stuff...

Work Text:

Jake was standing next to the luxurious car and inside was the beautiful Sherry Birkin, who was properly dressed to go to dinner with her fiancé, who was finishing getting ready and answering calls at the company where she worked.

Taking advantage of that fact, the young driver stole a kiss from the short-haired blonde, who had no other reaction than to try to push the young man away, which he only did when he saw his boss, Sherry's fiancé, get into the car, doing the same thing right away while discreetly wiping the red lipstick mark from his lips and smiling victoriously.

Paul, Sherry's fiancé, noticed that she was nervous and tried to disguise it by touching up her smudged makeup in an attempt to hide how distressed and stunned she was by what had happened seconds before he entered.

— Take off that lipstick, you look like a slut. — the man said, abruptly rubbing his thumb on Sherry's lips to clean off the traces of red lipstick, which ended up staining them even more.

— Are we still going to the restaurant today? — she asked, recovering from the brusque way she had been treated.

— No, I’ve lost the will to go anywhere. Jake, take us home.

— Right now, boss. — Jake said, nodding and looking in the rearview mirror at the visibly upset woman.

Jake glanced between the street and Sherry's reflection in his window, noticing how she stared at her fiancé and tried to touch his hand or thigh, and what she got in return was her ignorance while she was on the phone. This only upset the woman even more and irritated the driver, who kept that feeling to himself. Sherry doesn't deserve a man who doesn't treat her the way she wants to be treated,  Jake said in his thoughts as he arrived home with the couple.

That night, Sherry had prepared her most sensual lingerie, which was pink, with pantyhose and even high heels of the same color, all of this to get her fiancé's attention in an attempt to forget the way she had been treated by him earlier and to show how full of desire she was. When she entered the room, she found the man already asleep and her libido dissipated in seconds, sighing and sitting on the bed.

— What's wrong with me? I got all dressed up for Paul and he doesn't feel like making love. — complained the blonde, looking at herself.

— Shut up, Sherry. I need to sleep, because I have a trip tomorrow morning. — he murmured, turning to the side of the bed.

The blonde had her head down when she saw and felt a hand resting against hers. When she looked up, she saw who the owner in question was.

— Jake? What are you doing here? — she asked in surprise and in a low voice, looking back in distress to see if her fiancé was still asleep.

— He doesn’t deserve a beautiful woman like you. — he whispered with a smile, getting closer and closer to the blonde.

Sherry swallowed hard and, despite being afraid of being caught red-handed, allowed that approach that ended with Jake kissing her on the lips, a kiss that sounded different from the kisses Paul gave her.

The fiancé always sealed his lips with Sherry’s indifferently or sometimes he didn’t even do it, claiming that he didn’t have time for displays of affection because he had to go to work. His beloved lost count of how many times she got upset about that and just accepted everything with resignation.

With Jake, it was completely the opposite. He didn’t care about showing with his actions how much he liked the girl, how much he hated his boss for not valuing someone like her and secretly wished he was the man who would put a smile back on the lips of the beautiful blonde.

The redhead boy didn't take long to deepen the kiss and laid the blonde down on the bed, pinning her wrists above Sherry's head, trailing the same kisses down her neck as she moaned softly and writhed beneath Jake. She could see in his eyes how pleased he was to see those reactions and even more pleased that he was the one responsible for all of it. She was so immersed in feelings she hadn't experienced in a long time that it all seemed like a dream.

And it was.

The blonde woke up with a start and panting at what had happened, looking around and finding nothing but the emptiness of the room and the presence of her fiancé, who narrowed his eyes in irritation.

— What was that? — he murmured emotionlessly, lifting his body for a few seconds.

— It was a dream, that's all. — she justified without giving details, adjusting her satin robe.

— Stay with your stupid dreams and let me sleep.

— Sorry, honey. It won't happen again.

The man hadn't even heard that and was already falling asleep in bed again, much to Sherry's dismay. She felt guilty and confused at the same time for having had that dream about her fiancé's driver. She lay down on the bed, looking to the side and seeing the man she would soon marry, and that sparked her thoughts.

Why did he lose interest in me?

What am I doing wrong?

Why did I dream about Jake?

And... why did I like that dream so much?

How could a simple dream about her driver cause her so many feelings? She fell asleep thinking about that and wishing she wouldn't have another dream like that.

The next day, Paul was in front of the mirror after taking a shower, adjusting the collar of his linen shirt and picking up the black tie he would wear that day for the long-awaited trip he was going to take. Sherry was looking adorable in her white dress with floral prints and smiled when she saw her beloved, approaching him.

— You look so handsome today! — she complimented him with a genuine smile on her lips.

— I already know that. — the man replied with an arrogant and smug air, putting the tie around his neck.

— I was thinking… you could take me on your trip! It's been a while since we've done anything together and…

— No way, Sherry! This trip is for business, I'm not going to have fun, you'd just get in my way!

— Oh, I had thought that… — she tried to justify herself, but…

— Well, stop thinking about such nonsense, I'm already late and I have to go to work. — he said, after putting on his tie and putting on his elegant jacket.

— But I still wanted to go to the restaurant!

— I already told you that Jake will take you wherever you want, I won't be able to go.

The blonde girl nodded without much emotion at the answer and didn't want to stay in that room any longer. If the situation was already unbearable before, it had now become even worse. Paul simply ignored any suggestion made by Sherry. Something was really wrong, but what was it?

Sherry was walking thoughtfully through the garden of the house, head down and sad, and Jake noticed that, not needing much to know who was causing that sadness and that made him slowly approach the blonde.

— Are you okay, Sherry? — he asked, with genuine concern.

— Why don't you leave me alone? — she replied irritably to the young driver.

Jake laughed discreetly and approached the blonde, stealing another unexpected kiss that made the girl push him away and slap his face.

— This isn't the first time you've done this. Jake, I'm not going to cheat on my fiancé with you! What makes you think I'd do something like that? — Sherry insisted, looking to the side to see if Paul was seeing what happened.

— As if you were happy with that guy. I can see that there's no happiness in this relationship and that he doesn't love you that much. — Jake replied confidently, putting his hands in the pocket of his dress pants.

— You don't know anything about Paul!

— I know more about your fiancé than you can imagine.

— That's so ridiculous of you.

— What's stupid is marrying a man who makes you unhappy! Since I started working for Paul, I haven't seen you smile at any time. All I hear is you saying that you don't have time to do anything or telling me to accompany you everywhere. Is that what you want, Sherry? You deserve a man who loves you and values the woman you've always been! You deserve nothing less!

Sherry shook her head in denial and thought about leaving, but was stopped by Jake, who grabbed her by the arm and saw one of the straps of the boy's suspenders fall off with the action, drawing her attention; she had never noticed how the driver was so... handsome.

Jake had always hated wearing suits and ties at work, Paul didn't like it, but he had to tolerate it without much choice. He limited himself to wearing even his usual white linen shirt, but ended up adopting the use of suspenders as his main accessory, being something equivalent to a tie and it was the trademark of his style, not caring if wearing the piece caused stares, he had turned on his “fuck it” to everything.

Sherry took a closer look at the man and it was exactly like in her dream, Jake even wore those damn suspenders that fell to the sides and made him more attractive, but she needed to get that thought out of her head, it wasn't the time.

— Let me go now or I'll scream! — threatened the blonde with even more irritation.

— Come with me and I'll show you what your fiancé does so much when he's away from you! — he insisted, and he quickly led her to the car without waiting for her answer.

The blonde tried to get away from the grip, but the young man kept looking back to make sure that Paul or anyone else wouldn't see them in that situation.

The driver pressed a button on the key of the luxurious car and the trunk opened immediately, signaling with his hand for the woman to get in there quickly. She was reluctant, but got in while muttering "this is so ridiculous!" to the young man, who closed the compartment and looked at his watch.

Paul appeared outside a few minutes later and was talking on the phone while carrying a suitcase that he was preparing to put in the trunk of the car.

— Don't worry, I'll keep your suitcase here, boss! — said a very helpful Jake, who picked up the luggage and saw that the man ended the call, asking something to confirm to Sherry what would come next: — We're going to the airport, right? You can go and get comfortable in the car right away.

— That's right, but before we go I want to stop at another place, you know what I'm talking about. — said Paul with a smile and patting the driver on the shoulder, who smiled back and nodded as the man entered the back door and sat down relaxedly.

Jake quickly opened the trunk and looked at Sherry, placing the luggage in the corner, very close to her feet and saw the woman still angry for having subjected herself to that. She didn't want to believe that her fiancé could be doing something, but she couldn't keep thinking about it until she had proof that it could or could not be true.

Sherry remained silent throughout the entire car ride in the trunk and had no idea how many minutes they had been moving. Ten minutes? Fifteen or twenty minutes maybe? She just wanted to clear up that doubt once and for all and rub it in her driver's face that all the insinuations about her fiancé were pure lies.

Suddenly, when she least expected it, the car stopped moving, which obviously meant that the two men had reached the destination that Paul had mentioned wanting to stop at before going to the airport.

Sherry heard the driver's and passenger's doors open at the same time and heard her fiancé's voice, but... she heard something more than that and also other things she hadn't expected to hear. That left her confused and surprised.

— I missed you so much, my love! — said a melodious woman's voice.

— I missed you too! Let's spend a few days together, how about that? — suggested Paul with a smile as he held the woman in his arms.

Jake, who had already gotten out of the car, pressed a button on the vehicle key that made the trunk open, revealing a Sherry who was visibly disappointed not only with what she had heard, but also with what she was seeing, causing Paul to be genuinely shocked.

— So this was your “business trip”? — she asked ironically, making air quotes with her fingers about her fiancé’s travel.

— Babe, I can explain, it’s not what it seems! — Paul began, trying to clear his side of the story.

— Thank you for opening my eyes to the truth, Jake. — she said with a resigned smile to the young man, who nodded.

— So it was you, you nosy driver! I’m going to fire you and I’m going to beat your face in! — said the man, who was furious and was going to go after Jake to carry out his threat, but…

— I won’t allow it and if you’re going to hit him then you’ll have to go through me first!

Sherry had stood in front of Jake with her arms open and a determination that she herself had not expected to show so quickly.

Paul looked at that woman with anguished eyes, trying to get closer, but all he got from Sherry was her distance and her coldness.

— And I always thought the problem was in me, but I was wrong. — the woman recalled, shaking her head in denial. — Our engagement is over, Paul.

— Sherry, we can fix this, love! I'll fire that idiot driver and we'll be fine! — the man suggested desperately, looking at his now ex-fiancée and the other woman who was still watching everything confused.

— Nothing can be fixed, you always wanted this woman, now the way is clear. — Sherry shrugged off her fiancé's attempts to rekindle the relationship and ripped off the engagement ring she had once carried with such pride and threw it at Paul, who heard the thin sound of the jewel falling to the floor and all he could do was watch the girl walk away towards Jake with a smile. A genuine smile that made her even more youthful and beautiful.

— Where do you want to go, Sherry? — the equally youthful Jake asked chivalrously, opening the car door for the blonde.

— Anywhere we can be alone and enjoy each other's company. Maybe a restaurant? — she said, smiling at the boy.

— As you wish, ma'am.

— I almost forgot... if you want to surprise me with a kiss again...

Jake smiled broadly at Sherry's suggestion and, grabbing her by the waist, did what she asked: he gave her an expected and now passionate kiss, all of this done in front of Paul, who was regretting having exchanged his fiancée for a temporary fling.

When he saw them leaving in the car, he felt regret, but it was too late. Sherry was next to Jake and feeling something she hadn't felt with her fiancé: happiness. She was finally smiling for real and the person responsible was Jake, who opened her eyes to the truth.
