Chapter Text
It’s so cold. I feel something rough and hard all around me. It’s so cold. I feel something touching my face. It’s cold. I hear loud thumping and sirens. It’s so cold. My eyelids feel so heavy but, Im so cold I can’t stay put. I twitch my finger trying to grasp my strength. Why am I so weak anyway? Why am I struggling to move? I start to push off the ground some, trying to get up. I try and try for what feels like hours but I can’t sit up. I can’t even open my eyes. That is until I feel a sharp pain in my hand that causes my eyes to shoot open.
I slowly sit up and look around to find myself in an unfamiliar setting. There are large buildings everywhere and I’m surrounded by a crowd of walking people. It’s very loud out and it’s raining too. Just constant sounds of cars and yelling. I stand up and and realize Im on a sidewalk next to a fence. I look over it and notice another street with buildings and trash all over. Where on Earth am I? I stumble around through my confusion, getting yelled at by passerby’s I bumped into. Im turned around in the commotion and all of a sudden Im shoved into something hard and metal. I stumble back and realize I’ve shoved some sort of robot over the fence and onto the street down below. Before I can even fully process it though two more robots roll over and grab me, dragging me to a small mansion that is drastically different looking from the rest of the city. I try to struggle and hit them but metal can’t feel and I just end up hurting myself. The robots throw me through the doors of the mansion and lock them and I am greeted with a large empty room.
I stand up, brushing off my pants and after trying to break open the doors, I decide to look around. The mansion looks pretty warm and homey and is very full of light in contrast to the dark city outside. This room had some plants and a couch but not much else so I walked through a small doorway and was met with a much smaller living area. Inside this living area was two people. A girl and a guy. The girl had pale skin and long brown hair that was orange at the tips. Her smile lit up when she saw me and she got visibly excited. The guy on the other hand had short brown hair and a messy stubble. He looked very tired and just sighed when he saw me. They were talking about “something” when I walked in but they stopped immediately and the girl ran over to me.
“Hi, welcome! Gosh it’s been so long since we’ve had newcomers! Im Erin, what’s your name?” She enthusiastically questioned.
She shook my hand and left me silently wondering how to respond. Obviously I should respond with my name right? But that’s when the realization hit. I can’t remember my name. I can’t remember a single thing about myself. My head starts pounding and so I stumble over, holding my forehead in my palms. Erin helps me sit on the couch and the man stares in silence before getting up and leaving. I took a moment to calm down and when the pain stopped I looked up at her and took a breath.
“I….I don’t remember my name..” I responded.
She gave me a soft smile and brushed some hair out of her face.
“You’ve got amnesia huh? Don’t worry I forgot a few things when I first came here too. Until you can remember, why don’t we pick a name for you?” She asked.
I looked down for a second while thinking before nodding a bit nervously.
“Um y-yea sure…how should we pick?”
She put her finger to her chin and hums as she thinks. She stares me down for a second examining me when she seems to notice something.
“Oh you’ve got an ocean symbol on your jacket! You must be from the Quantum Orcinus sector! Soo why don’t we call you Finn? Like a fish finn!” She exclaimed.
I get a bit confused at “Quantum Orcinus” but decide not to question it for now. There’s too much going on for me to keep asking questions so I just decided on my name.
“Uh yeah I like Finn. It’s nice” I mumbled.
She cheered and told me to explore while she gets the “others” to come meet me. I walked through the the halls, seeing multiple closed rooms until I finally found the bathroom. I splashed my face with water and stared at myself in the mirror. I had short and messy dark hair and my skin was pale and looked..strange? The weirdest thing about my face though, was my eyes. They were a bright yellow with hues of green that almost looked like they were changing. Of course I assume it was a trick of the light or just me imagining things after staring for too long. After a little while I hear Erin call my name and I open the door to go meet the rest of the people here.
