Chapter Text
When the beautiful woman arrived at her one bedroom apartment, she was exhausted with the day. She hung her umbrella and raincoat on her coat rack, both dripping on her dark wood flooring. She dropped her computer bag on her small dining room table, decorated with small trinkets collected over the years, which doubles as a desk.
On the way to her bathroom, she stopped in her bedroom to find her lounge wear for the night. She opened her pajamas drawer and drew out a red set with loose shorts and a short cut tank top with small black cats decorating it. She then opened her lingerie drawer and picked out her favorite set: a red bra with wisps of black weaved into the lace on the cup and strap, and cheeky bottoms that matched.
She left her bathroom door open, for her cat to come in and out of as he pleased, to lounge while watching her as she carefully shaved, attempting not to nick herself.
The woman brushed her hair, following with adding all the different oils and serums that would help protect it, in result of her hair type being high maintenance.
After all of her pre-shower duties were done, she finally stepped into her shower, the warm water pouring over her smooth skin, washing away the vexation of the day. She used her nice floral body wash, shampoo and conditioner, making the whole bathroom smell as she did, overwhelming her cat enough for him to leave his spot in the sink.
She stepped out of the shower, carefully closing the glass door after turning off the water, and dried herself with her towel. She wrapped her hair in her special pink towel, she specifically sought out for its softness and ability to not make her hair so frizzy, which she struggled with. She slipped into her luxurious lingerie and expensive pajamas with glee.
After doing her hair, the woman then left the bathroom to sit down at her dining table and pull out her computer to finish her work that she brought home.
It ended up being around 7 pm when she finished; she decided her hair was dry enough to finish taking care of it. She put in the rest of her hair products that she needed, finishing with her hair in two protective dutch braids.

After reading on the couch for 30 minutes, the woman checked the time, seeing that it was almost 8pm. Expecting Jason’s arrival soon, she decided to get up and start on her dinner— his lunch.
Continuing with the theme of a self-priority night, she decided to make her favorite meal, though it was not the healthiest; pesto chicken pasta. She had already set out the chicken before she sat down to read earlier, so it was already marinated as she put on the water to boil.
As she was cutting up the chicken in strips, she heard her front door open and the shuffling of clothes as her boyfriend took off his jackets. She heard Jason sigh as he leaned over to push off his boots. His heavy methodic steps came up behind her, “Good evening, baby” he said as he stopped behind her. He was very pleased to see she had on his favorite pajamas of hers, they were so uniquely her.
Since it was below freezing outside, his hands were cold as he placed them on her warm bare skin, between her shorts and the top. The woman shivered as she felt cold coming off of, not just his hands, but also his whole body behind her.
Simultaneously, as he slowly inched his hands lower, pushing them between the silkiness of her underwear and her smooth skin, he bent down and slowly kissed behind and below her ear while nuzzling in her delicious smelling braids. As he slowly moved down her neck with his praise, his girlfriend hummed in content as she continued to slice the meat, leaning back into him.
He was still laying wet and hot kisses on her neck when she finished, turning around to put her arms around his neck and kissed him. He was leaning down due to being much taller than her as he laced his arms around her lower back, his strong forearms scooping her up and pulling her body to him. His right hand moved up to her upper back, pushing her chest up and closer to him as he deepened the kiss, humming with the comfortability of her warmth against his cold clothes.
They stood like that, until they heard the tell-tale sign of the water boiling over and hissing against the hot metal of the stove.
Still holding his girlfriend to him, Jason used his left hand to turn down the heat and lift the pot to relieve it from boiling over. She giggled around his lips as it happened, and to his utter dismay, left his embrace to continue on moving over the chicken to the pan.
They made their dinner together, every once and awhile making quiet small talk, asking about each other's days so far, explaining the plot of her book, talking about what Jason’s plans were for tonight’s patrol. Jason would sneakily steal some kisses, with his girlfriend complaining that he was distracting her and that the chicken would burn.
Finally, as she combined the sauce, chicken and noodles all together, he brought the bowl over, setting it on a pot holder on top of the dining table; now rid of all the woman’s homework, which previously occupied it. While Jason was doing that, she grabbed the plates, forks, salt and the garlic knots she threw in the oven last minute.
They sat down, Jason giving her a smile, and began to eat. They talked very few words, but just being able to be eating together, in the same space, was good enough for Jason. During the very few moments during the week he got to see his girl, he would soak up her attention and presence.
As he ate, he watched her, he memorized her to look back to while during patrol tonight: the planes of her face, her lips that were still swollen from his kisses, the few strands of hair slipping out of her braids. He loved her mannerisms, the way she would twirl the spaghetti three times before stabbing a piece of chicken and slipping it into her mouth, leaning over her plate to slurp the noodle before it dripped on her chin. Her nose would scrunch whenever she would eat a a bite that was too salty, followed by a swig of her favorite drink in her glass cup with dancing black cats painted on it.
Once finished, his girlfriend started to pick up all the dishes, ready to move them into the sink to clean, but as he laid his calloused hand on her soft one, he said, “Go sit and relax, baby, I got it.” She kissed him with a smile as a thank you. As she pulled away he chased her lips, not wanting his reward to end.
She fell back on the couch, reclining back on the arm with a sigh. She read her book, satisfied with the day and calm evening, as Jason clinked and scrubbed around in the kitchen.
After washing his hands with her kitchen soap, his hands smelling the same as her, he came around to the couch. Placing his hands on either side of her shoulders, and with a groan, he slowly laid down on her. She spread her legs, so that he could be comfily nestled in her hips. His feet were propped up on the other couch arm, his height always being an obstacle. He moved one of her braids out of his way before laying his head on her shoulder, facing the window to look out and watch the rain. His breath brushed over her exposed collarbone.
She carefully repositioned her arms around him to hold the book in front of her face, placing her bookmark and annotating marks on top of his back. Holding her book with her right hand, she stroked his hair, cautious to not get in his view of the window. Her bracelets and rings jingled as she stroked her manicured nails through his black, curly hair, scratching his skull and pinching the strands between her fingers, gently pulling. Jason hummed with fulfillment. This is how he wanted to die; sheltered in her arms on a rainy night.
They laid like that for a while, the rain pattering on the window as their evening’s soundtrack, until 10pm. When his girlfriend’s book fell on his back, it told him that she had dozed off safely in his arms.
Cautiously and as silent as possible: he pulled his hands out from beneath her, catching her book behind his back and placed the bookmark in her place. He placed the paperback on the table, blowing out the lavender smelling candle.
The couch creaked beneath his weight as he leaned up, standing up on the side of the couch.
He leaned over and scooped her up in a bridal carry and walked over to her bedroom, pushing open the ajar door with his hip. Her cat quietly meowed up at him, knowing that his owner was asleep and Jason was doing what he did every night, tucking her in.
Jason laid his sleeping girlfriend down on her soft sheets. He carefully plucked off her rings, slid off her bracelets and unlatched her necklace; placing them on her dresser. He fluffed up her pillow while making her sit up and lean against him. He then gently leaned her back down, settling her into the soft mattress. He picked up her feet and rubbed her lilac lotion into them, her nightly routine. His girlfriend gave him a sleepy smile, still laying with her beautiful eyes closed. He brought up her covers and tucked them in around her, making sure there was no way cold could sneak in and touch her.
She sighed in pleasure as he did so, slowly slitting open her eyes to look at him beneath her lashes. She caught his hand before he could pull away and whispered, “Stay safe and come back to me, please.”
His heart cracked a little as she closed her eyes and curled into her covers. He didn’t want to leave her, he wanted to climb in behind her and feel her warmth against his chest as they fell asleep, together, safe in each other’s arms. But, he knew that Gotham and his father needed him to patrol tonight, so he reluctantly placed a single kiss on her parted lips.
He turned on her heated blanket to medium, gave her cat a scratch, until the feline started purring, then walked out of the room, soundlessly closing the door, giving one last somber look back, just to remind him of what he would be coming back too in the small hours of the night.
