sunshine is sparse, in a place like this. it’s freezing all the time, covered in snow and ice. but under these blankets, it’s warm. and the body next to you is warm, too. two arms are around you, the bone you can feel from one has always made you a bit sad. you aren’t unnerved or scared anymore, you just feel bad for him. not that you really know what happened, but the horrible rot he suffers makes guilt pierce your heart.
no need to think about that now. you glance to meet his eyes, he still has that gas mask on, he’d stated a few times he didn’t want you breathing in his poison. you pressed a gentle kiss to one of his lower horns, it brought a quiet, somewhat squeaked out sound from him, that almost made you want to giggle. the corners of his eyes scrunched up, you could tell that meant he was smiling by now. he closed his eyes and pressed his forehead to yours, it was the best he could do. you enjoyed the proximity anyways. you closed your own eyes, he held you a little tighter. and despite the thick snowfall outside, you felt warmer than ever.
