Phuwin squinted at his phone, the Tokyo sun searing hot against his skin. He was in Japan for a promo tour with Pond, and between the rush of activities, he was determined to figure out this PayPay thing. Frustrated after multiple failed attempts throughout the day, he groaned, "Ugh, Pond, help!" and handed over his phone. "It's all in Japanese!"
Pond, always the reliable one, never far away these days, leaned in, his shoulder brushing against Phuwin's. "Let me," he whispered, his breath teasing Phuwin's ear. "I've got this."
So for the next couple of days, Pond became Phuwin's personal PayPay tutor. He taught him how to send money, pay vendors, and even teased him about his "investment strategy" (which mostly involved pressing buttons at random). Their banter became playful, full of laughter, teasing, and glances that lingered a little too long.
One night, the entire crew went out for dinner. Phuwin and Pond were almost attached at the hip as they cracked jokes, totally unaware of the smiling grins of their colleagues. "You're a PayPay pro now," Pond whispered, nudging Phuwin with his elbow. "We should celebrate."
"Absolutely," Phuwin concurred, his eyes shining. He nudged Pond's shoulder playfully. "My treat, since you're my financial guru now," he added with a laugh.
Later, Pond offered to drive Phuwin back to his hotel. The ride was quiet, comfortable, and silent with exchanged glances. When they arrived, Phuwin hesitated at the door. "Thanks, Pond," he said softly. "Want to come up for a bit? We can… maybe… review more PayPay stuff?"
Pond smirked, eyes glinting. "Sure. PayPay things."
In Phuwin's hotel room upstairs, they managed to discuss everything except PayPay. They laughed and told stories, and the easy silence came back, this time filled with a different tension. As the night wore on, Pond realised he was still there, sprawled lazily on Phuwin's bed. "It's late," Phuwin murmured, already half asleep.
"Yeah," Pond replied, his voice low. He didn't move.
Phuwin shifted over, leaving just enough space between them but Pond closed it instinctively, pulling him closer. By morning, Phuwin woke up to Pond’s arm draped over him, a silly grin tugging at his lips.
He knew, even with a thrill in his chest, that this was something more than just friendship. And it could all have begun with a little help from PayPay.
