ROUGH DRAFT (SUBJECT TO CHANGES, SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME!)
Far into the Nebulis Sovereignty, stood the shining example of the power of astral mages, in the form of the royal palace. Glowing bright in the late night, one could only wonder what important activities take place within. Surely only politics and discussion of the future of the Sovereignty, or perhaps the training for one of the Lou daughters in preparation for their future ascent to the throne.
Meanwhile inside, Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX, the second princess of the Nebulis Sovereignty, was currently in quite the predicament. She was sprawled out on her bed, contemplating her situation. Her attendant Rin stood to the side, ever the watchful guardian.
"There's no way this is happening, not now! It's unjust, it's unfair!"
"Well, milady, I admit it is quite the dilemma."
Just half an hour prior, Alice had a troubling encounter with her mother. A month or two ago, she had essentially told the queen that she had a boyfriend to ward off all the despicable perverts who had been coming up to her for marriage proposals. There was a whole news story about it, and it was supposed to have been a done deal. Unfortunately for her, she had then completely forgotten all about it due to some specific recent activities, but the queen had not. A whole month or more of zero news about her "boyfriend" had made her mother suspicious, which had caught Alice completely off guard.
She stared at the ceiling as she tried to think of a solution to this problem. Her showing of Rin's picture with herself and Iska, her imperial swordsman-
Alice suddenly blushed as she realized the manner she had referenced Iska in with her internal monologue. Even though he was just her rival. And it was a completely proper way to refer to him in that way, of course.
"Lady Alice, are you alright? Maybe all this stress is getting to you, you look like you're glowing! I will call the nurse immediately!"
Rin started to walk to the door. Alice quickly responded before she could get far.
"No!- it's alright, I just... thought of something wrong." Rin stopped halfway, and turned back to face Alice with a worried expression.
"Is this about the war? Perhaps you need a break, you've been battling nonstop for a while."
"It's definitely not that Rin! We need to focus on the task at hand."
"You could just go with what your mother thought." The queen had simply come to the conclusion that Alice had broken up with her boyfriend due to his high status, which was a reasonable conclusion based on the information Alice had provided her.
"If I do, then I'll have to go back to meeting those horrid marriage proposal applicants. That is simply unacceptable."
"In the end, it is for the best milady. You've been spending too much time associating with inappropriate individuals."
"What do you mean by inappropriate individuals?! I associate with perfectly appropriate individuals, I am a princess after all!"
"Well, I do have one specific person in mind..." Rin turned away in silence, knowing that the rest of her thoughts would most likely not be appreciated by the princess.
"Tell me who it is- oh. Iska is not inappropriate! He's a perfectly proper man!"
"I would beg to differ milady, as despite his uses, he is still our enemy."
"He is my- he is... he's my rival! Of course I can be around with someone that I am- competing with!" Alice stuttered through her sentences. Just the thought of Iska, especially recently, was somehow disconcerting in a strange way.
"Whatever you say, milady." Rin backed down, not wanting to further escalate the argument. (and further increase Lady Alice's time spent thinking about the swordsman.)
Alice wasn't satisfied, however. She was about to launch into a comprehensive explanation of why her and Iska belonged together- until the door opened, and Queen Millavair Lou Nebulis VIII- Alice's mother, walked in.
