Bucktommy Fluffebruary- Sleepy cuddles

Work Text:

It had already been a long shift and Buck was ready to go home, until he remembered that the team was going out for breakfast after work. He tried to remember why he had agreed to this until he heard Chimney tell Bobby that Maddie was able to make it after all.

That’s right, Karen, Maddie, Athena, and Tommy were coming too. It was something they all planned, at least before they realized what kind of shift they would have. The only reason Buck was still looking forward to it was being able to see his boyfriend. They both hadn’t been able to see each other as much due to their schedules and he missed him.

They chose one of their favorite cafes to go to and Buck hoped the coffee was strong enough to wake him up. However, once he saw Tommy sitting at the table talking to Karen, he smiled.

“Hey Karen,” Buck leaned down to hug her before he sat next to Tommy. “Hi, baby.”

“Hey.” Tommy wrapped an arm around his chair and kissed his cheek. “How was your shift?”

“Long.” Buck sat back in his seat, looking towards Eddie. “Have him tell you about the last call. I need coffee before I can talk.”

“Buck needing coffee before talking?” Maddie asked, walking up with Jee in her arms. “You all did have a long shift.”

Buck just gave his sister a sleepy smile, deciding not to flip her off with his niece present. He’d just find a way to get her back once he was more awake.

He had wanted to be able to enjoy a nice outing with everyone, but he was even more tired than usual. Rubbing his eyes, Buck leaned back in his seat, trying to keep up with something Maddie mentioned about dispatch.

What felt like minutes later, Buck felt someone rubbing his shoulder. “Hey, babe, come on, you need to order food. What would you like?”

Buck shook his head, turning his head further into the soft sweater his boyfriend was wearing. “You pick. You know my order.”

He could hear a couple soft expressions of awe and he just ignored them in favor of pressing closer to Tommy. Tommy ordered him some egg whites with avocado toast, making Buck hum in delight. It sounded really good.

“Baby, you sure you don’t want to just take food to go?”

Buck opened his eyes, blinking as he rubbed them. “No, no, I’m good. Sorry guys.”

“We had the same shift as you, Buck, we get it.” Hen smiled. “It’s not your fault you didn’t make it to the coffee maker before some of us,” she looked pointedly at Chimney, who used his daughter as a buffer as he drew on a paper placemat with her.

Buck smiled at his family before focusing back on the conversation. He would probably feel embarrassed later for basically falling asleep on them, but he was glad that they understood.

Once breakfast was finished, Maddie, who had gotten a ride with Karen to the cafe, offered to drive Buck back to the loft while Chimney followed along so he could drive her back home. Buck almost argued, but one look from Tommy had him decide he better not chance it. He barely made it to the cafe and he didn’t want to ruin his plan of falling asleep in bed. Preferably with said boyfriend.

After saying their goodbyes, Buck and Tommy headed upstairs to the loft. As soon as he got inside, Buck groaned at the sight of the stairs. “Why did I buy this loft again?”

Tommy chuckled and walked over to help take his jacket off. “Because you wanted your own space, remember?”

Buck nodded before slowly making his way up to his bedroom. He had just enough energy to remove his shoes and pants before collapsing in bed. Waving his arm, he turned his head in Tommy’s direction.

“I need my pillow.”

Tommy laughed. “It’s under your head, babe.”

“I meant your chest.”

Tommy crawled onto the bed and Buck was satisfied to see his boyfriend had also removed his clothes except for his briefs. If Buck had the energy, he would take the time to appreciate the sight. He settled for pulling Tommy close and snuggling into him.

“Much better.”

Tommy rubbed his back, kissing his temple as Buck closed his eyes. “Get some rest. I’ll be right here.”

“Sounds perfect.” Buck snuggled closer to him.
