An Apolo-FLEECE

Summary:

Despite having a long day, Sheep gets to see somebody who he had met earlier that day. Surprises ensue.

Notes:

This fic takes place right after the episode “Wish You Were SHEAR!”, so go watch that episode if you hadn’t yet.

Work Text:

Sheep couldn’t help but lie down on his bed hard; every part of his limbs was aching and he just needed a long rest.

What was going to be a special day turned into chaos; Sheep was mistaken as a dog and was “adopted” by Lisa Rental, all while trying to get Swanky a gift. It didn’t help matters that Swanky thought he had forgotten their anniversary, and was being romanced by another dog (a greyhound specifically): An Ideal Date.

Luckily, things went back to normal, as he was free once Lisa herself was mistaken as a sheep, and was reunited with Swanky (albeit, without a gift and in a pretty dress).

Sheep was about to close his eyes, and drift off to sleep, when he heard a knock at the door.

Sheep let out a bleated groan, “Baah…”

The door knocked again, slightly louder this time.

Sheep yawned as he slowly got up and made his way.

“Baah?” Who wanted him at this time?

When Sheep opened the door and saw who was waiting behind it, all of his energy suddenly came back, yet he also felt scared of this individual.

It was… An Ideal Date?!

Fearing the worst, Sheep covered himself and apologised for making him lose the race and Swanky, “Baah! Baah, baah baah.”

He fully prepared himself as the greyhound… Placed his paw on him and sighed?

“Woof…”

He was… Sorry, for everything?

Sheep was baffled by this, “Baah?”

An Ideal Date looked down and closed his eyes in confirmation. Seeing this just made Sheep even more confused.

All of that confusion would instantly be thrown away with one answer, “Woof.”

Swanky told An Ideal Date everything; from Sheep had to run away from Lisa Rental, to the reason she chose Sheep was simply because she knew and trusted him more. This clearly made An Ideal Date feel guilty about acting so pushy, and it didn’t help matters that the Greyhound Track made a fool of him, and how they have a strict no-sheep policy (so even if Sheep wasn’t seen as “the mystery lady”, he would be disqualified and that wouldn’t be fair). In short, everything was too much for him and he wasn’t in the right mind at the time.

Hearing that An Ideal Date wasn’t as bad as he was led to believe, Sheep smiled and gave him a hug, “Baah…”

An Ideal Date was initially shocked, but soon he hugged him back, before he asked him something. “Bark?”

“Baah!” Sheep agreed to his proposal of being friends, and told him that he can come over to his apartment at any time he wished.

“Woof!” An Ideal Date thanked him, but brought up that he couldn’t come over often due to having to work as a race dog and his owner would hate it to see him slacking off, let alone visiting a sheep.

Sheep was a little disappointed by this, but nodded understandably; relating to the fact that Swanky couldn’t visit often as well due to her owner hating sheep so much (but even saying that was an understatement).

Just before he had to go back home, An Ideal Date remembered something else. He looked to his left, placed his hoofs inside of something, before showing whatever was inside to Sheep.

It was a large bone.

“Baah?” Sheep was very confused by this; he didn’t like bones very much.

An Ideal Date chuckled, “Bark…”

The bone was for Swanky. Knowing that Sheep couldn’t get her one for the anniversary due to that whole scandal, An Ideal Date ‘borrowed’ some of his owner’s money in order to get one.

Sheep carefully (and struggled due to its weight) grabbed the bone from the greyhound as he bleated in joy, “Baah!”

An Ideal Date smiled seeing Sheep like this, before he waved goodbye. Sheep waved back before closing the door and going back to bed… Until he realized he wasn’t tired anymore; probably due to being so excited to give Swanky that new bone.

Maybe Sheep owes An Ideal Date that much?
