“Did you hear me, you stupid girl?! I KILLED. I KILLED MUGGLES FOR SPORT!”

“WHAT?”
“Did. You. Enjoy it,” she repeated.
He wanted to throttle the girl for her insolence. Before he could give her another tongue lashing, Hermione laid a shaking hand upon his forearm. He hissed through his teeth as though he were burned. When she spoke, her voice was gentle.
“If not, Professor, I’d say you haven’t been a Death Eater for a very long time.”

As an unlikely friendship blooms during Hermione's return to Hogwarts for her eighth year, and learns things about herself and the former spy she could never have dreamed of.
