Won't Say I'm In Love

Summary:

Molly totally isn't in love with Tina.

A ficlet set before the main events of the play.

Notes:

edit:

I wrote this after my high school put on a (licensed) production of Aliens vs Cheerleaders. We did rewrite some sections, notably getting rid of the Lewis and Molly kiss at the end and renaming some of the cheerleaders.

Yes I wrote fanfiction for a high school play. This is how you combat the post-show depression!

Work Text:

Molly was 100% positive that she didn't have a crush on Tina Carpenter.

Yes, she stalked the head cheerleader's Instagram all the way back to 2019, but that didn't mean anything! That was totally normal behaviour, right?

Besides, she had barely talked to Tina, only observed her at the mandatory pep rallies that always got out of hand. If Molly had any feelings towards her, they would probably be that of hatred and resentment. She was the epitome of evil, after all.

However, she couldn't quite explain why her eyes always gravitated towards Tina's name and photograph each time they appeared in the yearbook every June.

Tina was all over the pages: accepting an award from the chess club, posing with the senior dance company at the end of a number, making a speech for the debate team, planning an event with the student council, and being lifted into the air by the other cheerleaders during a competition.

The only reason why she knew so much about Tina was because she had no choice not to, really. If Molly wanted to make the girl her enemy, she needed as much information about her as possible.

Besides, it's not like Molly was ever going to have a real conversation with her, after all.

She had nothing to worry about.
