When the flower rots

Summary:

After enduring so much during her time at Darkwick, Keito can’t take it anymore, her heart is heavy and she’s decided giving up would be less of a hassle than keeping her head high and breathing.

Chapter 1: Medicine never fixes broken spirits

Chapter Text

Keito sat shaking on the broken floors of the cathedral meant to be her “dorm”, tears flooding her vision and streaming down her cheeks as she held a handful of as many painkillers as one could possibly find on the highly regulated campus, the tacky surface sticking to her sweaty palms.

Why even do this of in a year she’d die anyways? She’d die anyway… So therefore it doesn’t matter if she just sped that inevitably up and cut to the chase?

Her abdomen trembled, making her feel as though she may throw up. She just wanted this to end… She never wanted any of this in the first place, she just wanted to go to a stupid concert…

Now- Now she was stuck in a school that acted more like a prison and flipped her entire world upside down, forced to spend the rest of her days being given false hope and made to be a bunch of entitled ghouls’ personal maid to bully and never be good enough for…

Jin only called her when he needed someone to go play fetch and kiss his feet, Yuri always spoke to her like she was a filthy diseased pest and a screw-up 24/7, Taiga she may as well already be dead because clearly nothing about her is important enough to remember, and Leo- Oh Leo- Did he genuinely hate her? He didn’t even try to hide how much her presence bothered him.

But all that could change, all these stupid games and nights of losing sleep over seeing monsters more terrifying than one could imagine, could all end in just one swallow. It almost felt liberating to know that.

Yet she’s been like this for the past half hour, no matter what she couldn’t get herself to do it. She had no hesitation, even if this ended up making her really sick and it was possibly a painful way to go, she thought it’d be better than surviving another day here.

But that didn’t change the fact that she felt scared… Really, really scared and her arm almost felt paralyzed, feeling as though moving it was impossible- Or really any part of her body for that matter. Foolish, huh.

A shiver ran up her back, snapping her out of it briefly. She slumped down against the cold stone wall further, clutching her aching and hyperventilating chest with her left hand, unable to stop sobbing or pathetically whining. Living just hurt so much more than anything death could bring.

She had to do it, she had to rip off the bandaid to taking her life so that anyone she cared about could move on and be happier without her getting in the way… Without her being one extra burden on the world…

Holding back more gross tears and wiping the snot off her upper lip, Keito threw back her head and shoved her hand against her mouth, closing her stinging eyes tightly while forcing all the pills in at once.

Finally… She could be done with it, be done with waking up wishing she were dead. Her wish finally came true…

Creak…

“Honor student-?”

Notes:

Sorry if this is short or kinda badly written/emo, I for once wrote it in one sitting and not over the course of several months so- I tried. And I’ll be (likely) adding onto this in more chapters with a few different ghouls in the future. Whenever said future is.

But with all that said, I hope you enjoyed reading! <3
