WB Month Writing Workshop Prompt: Superstitions

Work Text:

“You know it’s bad luck to go into a second battle shiny.” Waxer said, plopping down next to Quartz on the floor.

“I know!” Quartz grumbled, poking Waxer with his paintbrush, still clean and dry, “I just don’t know what I want to paint!”

“It doesn’t have to be something big.” Boil said, having poked his head into the room as well to look at Quartz’s armour spread out across the floor of the bunk, an open can of paint next to him. Not a single piece had a bit of 212th gold on it. “You can just paint one piece, or part of one. I know a couple of vode who painted the inside of their armour, that’s how unsure they were about what they were doing, and that works just fine.”

“Boil’s right.” Waxer said, nudging Quartz with his shoulder. “It doesn’t actually have to mean anything.”

“You made it seem like it did!” Quartz exclaimed and Boil sighed, settling down onto the floor with them.

“He’s just messing with you. You do have to get at least a little bit of paint down though. Do you want to start on a piece of flimsi?”

“Yes please!”
