His Heart

Summary:

Stan loves two things: Kenny and his heart. The sound of it beating against palm or in his ear is always so satisfying, so relaxing, no matter the organ's tempo. Those moments are even more meaningful on Valentine's Day, where they most times celebrate being cuddled together.

Notes:

(A/n: I haven't forgotten nor given up on my story, I swear! Since I haven't updated it in a while, the least I could do was write a stenny one-shot for Valentine's day. I'll upload the next chapter to Consuming Darkness, Arising Light one of these days...if I can stop getting distracted lol...Please enjoy, the South Park characters do not belong to me)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Stan can't wait for his boyfriend to arrive, which should be soon. He's sitting on the sofa in the living room by himself, still in his nightwear, not even paying attention to what's being shown on the television screen, feeling extra giddy. It's not because he has the house all to himself today, he's not fifteen. The reason he’s smiling as if he’s waiting to have his picture taken is because today is Valentine's Day and it’s fortunately on a Saturday. He doesn’t have a box of chocolates, flowers, not even a card prepared. But it’s not the first time, so he doesn’t feel bad, not in the least. He and Kenny both established that they didn't have to gift the other anything to express their love for one another on Valentine's Day, their affection for each other was more than enough. As cheesy as it sounds.

Just when Stan turns the t.v off with the remote, there are three knocks at the front door. His sapphire eyes practically light up as he gets up and goes to open the door. He sees his handsome blonde-haired lover smiling back at him with bright hazel eyes, and he, too, is empty-handed, wearing a white T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. Stan lets him come inside the house and waits for him to remove his shoes as he closes the door, then kisses him, resting both hands on Kenny’s firm and soft chest as the other male gently grips his waist. Stan feels the rapid beating of the taller male’s heart beneath his palms, and it feels amazing, perhaps stimulated by the walk here, or the thought of seeing Stan. The noirette loves the feel of the fast pulsations either way. They kiss a few seconds longer, then Stan brings Kenny up to his bedroom. How they will spend their Valentine’s Day is very simple compared to what some other couples do, they are going to just cuddle in bed. It's Stan’s favorite pastime.

They enter the room, Stan closing the door behind them, then nearing his bed. He lets Kenny lay down first before joining him, laying on the taller male’s left side. The noirette rests his head on Kenny’s chest as they get comfortable, his ear directly over his heart, which is still beating fast. Stan develops a relaxed smile on his equally handsome face, the quick beats sounding euphorically profound in his eardrums. Kenny starts caressing his soft, dark locks, his own lips in a content small smile as he stares at the ceiling.

The room is silent. The only thing Stan hears is the thumping of Kenny’s heart that’s now staring to slow down and his light breathing. He watches the steady rise and fall of Kenny’s chest, transfixed on the pulsations that become visible through his shirt after every exhale. Seconds later, the blonde’s heartbeat returns to normal.

Time goes by seemingly slowly as the couple lay in bed. Stan’s ears picked up on the slightest changes in Kenny’s heartbeat all the while, sometimes picking up a slight pace when he inhales, then slowing back to normal when he breathed out. The longer he stares and listens, he soon starts to feel his eyelids droop. He doesn’t want to sleep, not yet at least. He still wants to keep listening to his boyfriend’s heartbeat. But as he continues to listen, the more it sounds like the organ is trying to coerce him to get some shut-eye with its soothing tempo. He attempts to fight off the drowsiness, lasting long enough to hear one more change in Kenny’s heartbeat, as if done intentionally by the organ itself. It starts to beat slower and sound deeper, echoing faintly after each beat within Kenny’s chest. The blonde’s breathing remains unchanged.

Stan has never heard Kenny's heart beat like this before and instead of feeling sleepy, fascination keeps him wide awake. The new sound had the opposite effect on him. He then wonders if Kenny is aware of this, and that’s when he realizes that the blonde has stopped stroking his hair. Stan looks up at his face to see him asleep. Stan lays his head back down on Kenny’s chest and resumes listening to the deep and perpetual beats in blissful silence.

(A/n: Yeah, this was entirely random and short sadly lol But I hope you enjoyed)
