Work Text:
It was the week before Valentine's Day, and Nile's dating profile was filled with messages from more or less desperate men who were looking for a date. After reading the tenth message, Nile decided to ask her friends for some help so she wouldn't end up with the wrong date.
Andy: "Not that I don't appreciate free beer and pizza..."
Andy ate the last bite of her second pizza slice.
Andy: "So wanna tell us why we are here tonight?"
Nile took a sip of her beer before telling her friends about the over fifty messages on her dating profile.
Nile: "I guess I am looking for some dating advice."
Nile looked at her friends.
Nile: "Please don't laugh at me for laughing."
Joe placed his arm around Nile's shoulder.
Joe: "Nicky and I won't laugh at you because we still believe in love. Babe? Why don't you start by giving our favourite little sister your best dating advice?"
Andy: "Hi, I thought I was your favourite sister."
Joe: "You are our favourite big sister, Old Girl."
Andy punched Joe on the shoulder.
Nicky: "My best dating advice is to find someone who will drag you outside at 3 AM to look at the stars."
Joe: "Oh, that was a romantic night."
Joe forgot all about fighting Booker for the last pepperoni slice and started kissing Nicky instead.
Booker: "I am only going to say this once: if anyone, and I mean anyone, wakes me up at 3 AM to go look at the damn sky, they will be shot."
Andy: "For once, I agree with you, Book."
Booker ate the last bite of the pepperoni slice.
Booker: "Listen, Nile. I won't give a dating advice because you know what I think about the fabricated holidays."
Booker took another beer.
Booker: "Instead, do what those two teenagers did."
Somehow, Joe and Nicky knew Booker was talking about them and stopped kissing.
Booker: "Oh, you never told Nile the truth about your first meeting. What did they tell you?"
Nile: "Something about meeting each other on Valentine's Day in the rain."
Andy: "Even though they both were wet, it wasn't raining, and it was the night after Valentine's Day."
Joe looked at Booker.
Joe: "You told Andy the story."
Booker: "I had to come up with something when she found you both all tangled up naked on her bed."
Joe: "Please stop talking."
Booker: "Why?"
Nile: "Before you two start fighting, could we return to my problem? Still single and without a date for next week."
Andy: "Don't worry, Nile. I will be your wingwoman when we go out on Valentine's Day. It will be great fun. Booker, are you joining us?"
Booker: "Not this time. I have said yes to work."
Nicky took a beer before handing it to Joe.
Nicky: "Can we come?"
Andy: "No, even though you are cute, it is a girl's night out. And something tells me Joe has something big planned."
Joe kicked Andy over the shin while Nicky looked at Joe.
Nicky: "What is she talking about?"
Joe: "I have no idea. Anyway, is it wise to send Nile with Andy all alone?"
Booker: "At least Andy won't forget Nile like someone else did."
Nile: "What is Booker talking about, Joe?"
Nicky: "It wasn't Joe who forgot Booker. And I am still sorry."
Andy placed an arm around Nile's shoulders and directed her a bit away from the boys, who were talking about past events.
Andy: "Forget the boys for a moment. What do you say, Nile? A night out just us two. It will be fun, and I promise, the booze is free."
Nile: "Why not? I would love that. And between us, I think I am dropping the dating profile for now. Maybe I can find someone in the real world."
Andy: "That is the spirit. And I promise to help you find the right guy. I will text you the details next week."
They then joined the boys for another fun evening together.
