A Gift for More Than Just Valentines

Summary:

It's Valentine's Day, but the following day will also be Nanna's birthday. She hopes to finish her assignment on time to be able to see someone important to her.

Notes:

After the last fic I wrote, I essentially wrote this one here to be silly and fun as a "cool off" fic. There really isn't any substance to this one but it was still fun to write. Nanna and Febail is yet another rare pair of mine, but I think they are very cute together. Hopefully, I will get around to writing more for them in the future.

Hope you all enjoy! Happy Valentine's day!

Work Text:

Sitting at her desk, a blonde haired teenage girl in a school uniform tapped one foot on the floor while she worked on writing the last paragraph for her essay. Everyone had already gone home for the day and she was the last one to stay as she wanted to get ahead of everyone. Even though tomorrow was Saturday, it was also her birthday, so she wanted to turn in the essay due on Monday today.

Looking up at the sound of a couple of girls giggling from outside the hallway, the teen spotted Miranda and her cousin, Tine, walking side by side as they carried some small boxes. Just as they were about to go out of view, the brown haired girl stopped and gave her friend a wave and a smile.

“How is your essay coming along?” the girl asked.

“Fine,” she replied, smiling, before hearing a short tapping from a table behind. The girl turned to see her teacher, patiently sitting at his desk, giving her a curt glare.

Frowning a little, she nodded and waved back at the two girls. The cousins waved back, smiling, before they headed off, leaving Nanna to finish her work. Putting her pencil back to the paper, she continued writing before setting it back down a few minutes later. The girl then started proofreading it, looking it over only to stop when she spotted out of the corner of her eye two individuals she recognized walking by the classroom. They were siblings and it was the brother that made her heart begin to race. Once he was out of sight, her heart sank. She wasn’t going to be able to make it in time. Instead she forced herself to take her time and finish the essay.

Once completed, she stood up and went over to her teacher’s desk and stapled the pages together before handing it to him. Upon seeing it completed, he started looking it over as soon as he put his eyeglasses on, but stopped, looked up, and gave her a nod to dismiss her. The girl quickly bowed before going back to her desk, putting away her pencil into her book bag, and quickened her pace a bit to see if she could make it.

Dashing down the hallway, she found herself already at the entrance with him nowhere in sight. Still, she didn’t want to just give up. Throwing one of the doors open, she found herself standing at the top of the steps before hopping down each of them quickly before reaching the curb where other students would hang out before going home. He was already gone.

Letting out a sigh in disappointment, she reached for her hair to pull some of it behind her ear when she heard a voice from behind call out to her, “You looking for someone?”

Eyes widened, the girl spun around and a small smile crept across her face as she spotted the blond haired individual she had been looking for.

“Febail!”

Sitting on one of the bases of the concrete support beams to hold up the archway to the entrance, the blond haired teen slowly stood up and approached. He wore his own school uniform, too, but the jacket was stashed away in his own book bag, poking out slightly.

“I heard from Patty you were staying late to finish the essay your teacher assigned to you, right?”

“Yes,” she replied, nodding her head, and smiled. “Were you waiting for me?”

“Yeah,” he admitted, nodding his head in return.

“Good, I was hoping to give you something,” she started, reaching for something in her book back, “since you’re going to be gone this weekend hunting with your mother.”

She then pulled out a small box before handing it to him. His face flushed slightly. “You didn’t have to…”

“Well, you’re important to me, so it’s only right that I give you this today,” she stated, feeling her own face flush.

“Thank you, Nanna,” he replied, accepting the gift. Smiling a little, he then said, “I actually need to give you something, too.”

“Huh?”

Give her what? The boys weren’t supposed to give anything to girls on Valentine's Day. Curious, she watched as he pulled something out of his book bag before holding it out to her. It was a small charm in the shape of a bird’s feather. Seeing this, her eyes widened and she looked up at him.

“What’s this all about?”

“I…well, Patty actually, suggested I give this to you now since I won’t be able to see you tomorrow,” he explained, before holding it out a little closer to her. “Happy Birthday, Nanna.”

Unsure of what to say at first, she then slowly held out her hand and took the small charm before getting out the charm bracelet she wore. The charm had a little clip on it, so she was able to hook it on with ease.

“Thank you,” she finally said, beaming.

He nodded his head. The girl then playfully tapped his present she had given him. “Open it.”

“Alright,” he chuckled, opening up the box before finding a small, white headband inside. He grinned.

“Hey, this looks pretty cool. Although, it looks like something a shonen protagonist would wear,” he joked before putting it on around his head.

“So, you like it then?”

“I do!”

“Good!” she laughed.

“Well, I should be going then,” he said, closing up the now empty box before stuffing it into his bag. “Do you want to walk home together?”

“Sure,” she smiled, and the two started doing just that.
