"Hey! Would you like to see a magic trick?"
Dennis’ enthusiastic voice tickled your ears as he suddenly appeared in the living room while you lazed on the couch. You had your nose stuck in an engrossing light novel but you turned your attention towards your boyfriend when he called your name. You peered up at him beneath thick lashes with an inquisitive look, noting the magician’s hat he held in one hand while a wand was clasped tightly in the other. A small smile played on your lips as your book fell shut with a soft snap and it fell into your lap. You nodded in response to Dennis’ question.
"I’d love to see one" you replied.
Dennis’ bright and beaming smile was dazzling, his eyes shimmering with mirth as he prepared himself. He took a deep breath, chin jutted out and chest puffed up as he got ready to put on a performance.
"As you can see, there is nothing in this hat" Dennis proclaimed.
He turned the rim of the hat towards you, showing that his statement was true as there was nothing hiding inside of the hat. Next, he flaunted the wand in his other hand as you nodded along, eyes flowing the movement as he twirled the wand between his fingers.
"But with a wave of this magic wand, I can make anything appear" Dennis continued.
"Anything?" you lightly teased.
Dennis gave you a soft wink as he tipped the hat up, pressing a finger to his lips. "I must ask for silence from the audience so I can concentrate."
You couldn’t help the small bout of giggles that bubbled up your throat as you pressed the seam of your plump lips together, hand politely covering your mouth as you followed along to his instructions. Your eyes traced the movement of the wand again as it hovered over his ‘magical’ hat, playfully waving in the air as he drew nonsensical patterns with it. He tapped the brim of the hat once as he seemed to focus on the magic trick he was weaving, brow furrowed in concentration as the rhythmical tapping of the wand against the hat cut through the silence.
"Abra cadabra!" Dennis exclaimed.
In the next instance, he reached his hand inside the hat and pulled out a bouquet of beautiful red roses. You were stunned and awed at the sight, hands clapping together as you cheered on the little performance he gave you in your small, humble living room. Dennis grinned as you clapped for him and he bowed with dramatic flair before he flaunted the bouquet for you. He dropped to his knees in front of you, a hand placed over his heart as he offered the flowers for you.
"For you, my darling" he sang with a soft hum.
Your long lashes fluttered wildly over your round, warm cheeks as you gasped softly, heart swelling with affection and head feeling fuzzy from his display of love. You reached out with shaky hands, taking the roses from Dennis with a soft smile. The scent of roses filled your lungs with each breath you took, the soft petals tickling your nose as you inhaled the sweet perfume. You were speechless for a brief moment as you gathered your thoughts, heat creeping down your neck and burning the tips of your ears.
"Dennis, you’re so sweet. They’re beautiful. I love them."
Dennis’ smile was contagious as he held your hand, thumb brushing along the knuckles as he beamed up at you.
"Happy Valentines~" he cooed.
You smiled sweetly before leaning forward and placing a soft kiss to his forehead. "Happy Valentines."
